Bikini or one piece swimsuit?

I'm not as confident as I was, I'm not as slim and toned as I was now at 43, going on holiday in a week. I definitely look better in a one piece and you can get some sexy nice ones, does anyone else wear a one piece on the beach , my bum and legs are good it's just my horrible tummy??!!!

Well my Asos package just arrived . I'm definitely going to keep at least one of them, it Ida one piece but it's a plunge neck and backless and looks really nice , I don't feel fat at all it looks good ,the only thing is I will look different lol, wish I could post a picture.

Can you post a headless one so to speak? I realise that sounds gruesome

I used to love tankinis, had a great sporty one, not at all frumpy, but never found something similar again.

I do think it all comes down to personal preference. And there is almost TOO much choice - I find it very confusing Grin

Could you post a website link? Then we'll see what it looks like without you having to post a photo!

Bikini. I'm on holiday and pretty much everyone is in a bikini regardless of size. They look better.

bikini if going to spain/Italy/Greece
pretty much everyone there sticks to a bikini, regardless of age, pallour, size and wobbliness. this oddly makes me (a good size 16) feel far less self-conscious and more confident in a bikini than a one-piece.

Agree as well that it's much easier to get a great, flattering fit with a bikini. I'm tall so a lot of one pieces either cut across my bosoms or disappear up my arse.

I'm just back from holiday and wore strapless swimsuits. I don't wear clothes that are no flattering, same goes for swimwear- why would i make a feature of my worst bits?? Next, m&s, french connection and h&m have great one pieces.

Or maybe a sarong to wear around my waist when walking round in a bikini. I think I'll bring both 😀

bear in mind no-one is looking because the sea, sand and scenery are much more attractive than people. No-one will notice or care.

practicality - bra and knickers works well for easy changing, useless for serious swimming or watersports unless under a wetsuit. One piece means a complete strip when you want to go to the toilet.

This is why I like bikini/tankini top and boardshorts - beach knickers stay soggy for ages and are useless for swimming, boardies dry quickly.

But in a one piece don't you just pull it to the side when you go to the toilet for a wee? (Off topic Grin)

Report
GloriousGusset · 22/07/2016 13:27

Don't you just wee in the sea?

I'm looking. Have had hours of amusement people watching. Lots of large Russian men here with glam wives and teenage daughters doing endless photos of each other.

I have a kaftan I wear for between villa and beach.

I reclaimed the bikini this year after 17 years of not feeling body confident. I was really pleased that I did.
I'm older and fatter than I've ever been but am still unlikely to ever be the oldest or fattest bikini wearer on the beach because in other countries women ALL wear bikinis!

I recommend under wired bikinis that come in bra sizes unless you are young and skinnySmile

Interesting. I'm the opposite of most on this thread - I think one-pieces are far more flattering than bikinis, on most people.

A well-cut one-piece (Seafolly does beautiful ones) will always look better than a bikini, unless you have a very good figure and flat stomach.

Just my opinion. Smile

I have a boyshorts style tankini and love it, feel v relaxed and can muck around on beach with DS, prefer sporty look tbh

Not keen on standard bikinis at all, way too revealing to be comfortable for me. Am medium sized (size 12ish)

A one piece that fits perfectly might be lovely, but it's far harder for it to fit perfectly because it has to be the right length in a number of places (from shoulder to bust, to underbust, to waist, to crotch) and you can't be different sizes on top and bottom.

I recently wore this one piece bikini and loved it.

An expensive, tummy tucking. Strapless swimsuit is my choice, wear what you want, it's only you who matters in the end.

Grin

'Tis funny - I don't like those cut out ones at all. I always think that if you are slim enough/small bosomed enough to be able to wear them, well, then wear a bikini.
If you need more support or wish coverage, then wear a 'proper' one-piece.

I know that's just me Grin
Please do not let me put you off.

I could never wear the one you posted, Rosewine, of the one linked to by Fashionlover; I'd take somebody's eye out...
