Chafing

It's hot, I want to wear dresses but there is thigh chafing. I have a pair of black bike shorts that I can wear under dark dresses but I need something nude coloured to stop my poor thighs being rubbed raw when wearing lighter dresses or skirts. Do such things exist?

Another vote for the Evans ones. Yours also do similar ones. Don't go for anything shapewear, you'll roast yourself to death!

There are some really good products on the market now which mean that you don't have to be red hot all day wearing tight shorts under your dress.

Metanium nappy rash is really good to prevent & heal chafing by the way. The tiniest amount though!

I definitely can't be wearing my Spanx in this weather. Are the Evans/other similar pants cool enough even though they're not cotton?

Chop the legs off a pair of tights and wear them like cycling shorts , but lighter

Bandelettes! They're like little strips of fabric that look like the top of a stocking but they stay in place and mean you can wear normal pants and not overheat in shorts.

I like Sloggi long briefs, available at debenhams. They come in white, nude and black and are cotton.

And they seem to be 20% off at debenhams today, must get some more!

What's the sizing like for the Sloggis learner? Do I order one size down like I usually would when buying underwear or go for my actual dress size?

Chaffree knickers (get them on Amazon, if you are near the bottom of the size range, size down) and the Big Tights Company. Both are brilliant, comfy, much cooler than bike shorts, and work. They claim to be breathable, which gives me the image of my bits panting excitedly, but whatever they do, they don't make you sweaty.

Normal dress size is fine in the sloggis

On me anyway! But I would normally buy normal dress size in knickers.

I'm around a 16 but my thighs are not firm - learner, cherries, minty, Mabel et al, so the pants you've recommended dig in to the leg or do they do as promised and look unnoticeable?

Minty would you recommend getting the size I am (12-16) in the big bloomers or sizing up?

Should have been more specific...I love Spanx (not in this weather!!) but find the bottom of the shorts cut in on my thighs so they're fine with something unfitted but look pants (pun intended) with trousers or more clingy skirts.

All these things feel too hot for me - that Lancôme ain't chafe cream works or more cheaply use roll on deodorant - let it dry (you have to sit legs wide apart) and that really works - I learned about it here.

Also it has the added bonus if some sort of wind blew up your skirt like Marilyn Monroe, not everyone would see your big pants!

Reup I totally agree about the heat. I've ordered some chafing gel but will try the deodorant too. Dh uses a Mitchum roll on which I think will be perfect!

Yes I use that one - I thought the most powerful the better! I couldn't believe it worked the first time (I had taken back up cream and shorts and used neither)

The Lanacane gel is also an amazing makeup primer! Just like Smashbox!

Plain old talc works well for me.
