Chafing

It's hot, I want to wear dresses but there is thigh chafing. I have a pair of black bike shorts that I can wear under dark dresses but I need something nude coloured to stop my poor thighs being rubbed raw when wearing lighter dresses or skirts. Do such things exist?

Another vote for roll-on anti-perspirant - apply liberally and up to pant-line!

BeMorePanda · 19/07/2016 15:12

I rave about this stuff on every thread and everyone ignores me but it seriously is the shit!! I've gone from someone who would never wear a dress/skirt without tights, to someone who wears dresses and skirts all summer long, and walks for miles without issue. One tub lasts well over a year:

Please do not think I find these even remotely sexy or stylish, but they have proved to be a godsend to me when wearing longer skirts or dresses so I don't care! From M&S.

Ooh, the chub rub. Was just looking at past threads on this. I bought a couple of pairs of Evans comfort shorts a couple of years ago, and they do work, though are mahoosive – the waist comes up to my boobs – so not totally great for very hot weather. Have also tried the roll-on deodorant solution, and it does work, though not for a whole, sweaty day.

Have just brought some Body Glide, as recommended on previous chubrub threads, but it has yet to arrive...

I'm very surprised that mainstream shops don't stock 'chub-rub solutions' as it seems to be such a widespread problem. But no. Nothing in M&S, Sainsbury's or Primark...

Are the big bloomers ones cotton? I don't want any man made fibres if it's hot enough for chafing!

ilovecherries · 20/07/2016 14:02

No they aren't cotton, but I've been wearing them (not the same pair!!) for the last three days and no swamp crotch. They are are very comfy. I find pure cotton gets very damp.

ilovecherries · 20/07/2016 14:05

Birdie, I don't find they dig in. I'm wearing them right now with a pale coloured tee shirt dress and you can't see the edge standing or sitting. And there is a lot more pull in them if I needed it, they aren't at the max. I truly feel almost knickerless!

I've just bought a nude pair of underwear shorts from H and M. They are clearly for nothing other than thigh rub issues! Planning on wearing tomorrow so I could report back my findings!

You can get a blister preventing stick in Boots (which I'd recommend actually for the job it is intended to do) that you rub on your feet and it makes your skin sort of "glidey" - it's great for wearing shoes with bare feet.

I've never tried it for thigh chaffing but expect it would work a treat. It's brilliant for stopping blisters. I'll see if I can find the brand I have.

This is it. Highly recommend.

So, I've been trying the antiperspirant trick and it works!! I'm not sure it would for a properly hot day and lots of walking but it's fine for warm and the school run. I'm definitely investing in some 'bloomers' for the next time we have hot weather (that'll be 2017!).

cherries they sound perfect
rocket have you worn them?
howtochoose I'm buying that!

It does work in hot weather, but you have to make sure you've covered a high enough area so that the sweat doesn't drip down (I know, yuk). Make sure you do under your knicker elastic (as well as thoroughly between thighs) for optimum comfort.
