Am keeping a lazy eye out for a replacement, mid-range tan bag. Something for everyday use that I can sling over my shoulder. Preference is for something with separate compartments so I can keep the kids' bits and pieces separate from my own. Saw this today. I quite like it but have lost confidence in my sense of style. What I don't want is something so big that I will end up carrying the kitchen sink and with achy shoulders to remind me of the fact that I have stuffed far too much in!

Any views ... or has anyone seen nicer?

Thanks!

It's lovely. Classic and elegant.

Shenanagins · 14/07/2016 22:53

Its lovely!

polyhymnia · 14/07/2016 23:01

I've seen that in real life - am looking for something quite similar to you and am a R and B fan. Really liked it. Only thing that's stopped me buying so far is that ideally I want a long strap too. That's because I travel on tube a lot and like to be hands free then.

ladydepp · 14/07/2016 23:12

Really nice.

I have a mulberry Bayswater but it's heavy and a bit of a bore with the flap. If I was still working I would get something more like this R&B one.

PollysPoppy · 14/07/2016 23:36

This is all a bit enabling Grin

Poly, agree re lack of strap. I quite like the ease of a hands free bag. It is lovely, really nicely finished inside too.

Ladydepp - I love some of the new style Bayswaters. Have some inheritance and have been mulling over an Oxblood one for some time .... although I tried it in tan recently and it was just beautiful!

It is indeed very nicely finished, as is usually the case with R and B. May well end up getting it.

LazyCake · 15/07/2016 00:01

Very nice. Got handbag lust now.

Joneseygirl77 · 15/07/2016 06:12

I like that a lot- leather looks good on it too.

cheeseandmarmite15 · 15/07/2016 10:57

I prefer this one

www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Lauren+Ralph+Lauren+Newbury+tan+pocket+hobo+bag/235573454,default,pd.html

It has an additional strap

Dancergirl · 15/07/2016 11:08

Gorgeous bag! I would love a R&B bag.

Everyonelovessparkles · 15/07/2016 15:15

Theta a nice bag. I have this in navy which is very nice and a similar style to the R&B one but half the price in the sale Grin

tan bag

LizzieMacQueen · 15/07/2016 15:20

I was going to suggest Coach too but other than the one linked above, the (non-sale) prices are ££££.

Mind you, this one is £350.

Oh that is lovely. Maybe I'm odd, but I'd still wear that on my shoulder - how big can your armpits be?? Surely it will fit fine on your shoulder when necessary?

Like the Coach one too, although the leather doesn't look as good as the R&B one. Don't really like the RL one, sorry

PollysPoppy · 15/07/2016 17:07

Thanks all .... still mulling it over but Lizzie has put the cat amongst the chickens with the second Coach bag. It looks lovely and I've looked at it online before though I had forgotten about it. I'm away for a few days and there is a Coach and R&B close by but time is running out before we go home. I might just try to get to Coach for a look!

Lol cat amongst the pigeons not chickens!!!

Dancergirl · 15/07/2016 18:41

I prefer the shape of the R&B one over the Coach one.

polyhymnia · 15/07/2016 20:30

It's not a question of whether it fits over my shoulder - the one in the OP certainly does. It's just that, when I have a bag on my shoulder, I find I tend to have one hand on it holding it in place all the time - perhaps unnecessarily, but would be hard to break the habit now. Whereas, with a cross-body strap, you can achieve total hands-free.

Don't like the first Coach one quite as much, though price is good, and it's a bit less 'deep' - wouldn't be quite as capacious, I think. Second looks lovely but don't personally want to go through the £300 barrier. Don't like the look of the leather on the RL one in comparison to the R and B - looks shinier and 'harder'.

bearofnothingness · 15/07/2016 20:40

i have a lovely bag similar to that from other stories. was alot cheaper than the one in the op! but i love that style of bag.

i got \link{https://www.frenchconnection.com/product/woman-collections-sale-accessories/sbdah/macie-leather-shoulder-bag.htm\this] one today £38 in french connection outlet!

bearofnothingness · 15/07/2016 20:41

sorry \link{https://www.frenchconnection.com/product/woman-collections-sale-accessories/sbdah/macie-leather-shoulder-bag.htm\this one}

Longislandicetee · 15/07/2016 20:43

The R&B one is utterly gorgeous. As is the second Coach one.

Dancergirl · 16/07/2016 10:05

I agree blingy I'm trying to work out if I 'need' a tan bag Grin

Although there is a navy mulberry I have my eye on.....

PollysPoppy · 16/07/2016 10:51

So glad so many like the R&B bag. Have just been to Harvey Nicks and had a look at the second Coach bag. It is really lovely, beautiful finish, nicer lining than R&B and real nice hardware with an expensive feel ..... but ... but .... the inside, zipped area is pretty small. It would really hold not just h more than a purse and mobile. The leather is lovely but perhaps a bit stiffer than the R&B. Handles are a bit shorter so I think it would tend to slip off the shoulder. Truthfully, it's probably a bit smart for what I want and the inside zipped pocket just feels too small. So I will likely order the R&B in my original post when I get home.

I did look at the other bags suggested, and whilst lovely, they just aren't what I'm looking for.

Was really surprised to get so many positives too! Grin. Thanks all.

good one PollysPoppy hope you enjoy your new bag.Smile

Dancergirl I am afraid I can't help you with whether you need a bag... I don't need any of mine but that's not the point.Grin

polyhymnia · 16/07/2016 12:07

Good call, OP. And thanks for checking out the second Coach one and confirming it's not as roomy as the R and B one and a bit 'stiffer' and more formal. Those would be important differences for me too. Hope you enjoy your bag - let us know.

PollysPoppy · 16/07/2016 12:38

Course you need a tan bag Dancer! I also have my eye on a Mulberry but don't know whether I can justify the cost . Actually more like feeling guilty for spending so much on a bag even though I know it's a classic. Got a Mini Marie in the spring so need to step back now!

Poly, I think if I wasn't a sahm and wanted a work bag, then I'd take another look at the Coach.

Thanks Blingy - it's nice to get endorsement from a couple of Voguettes!
