Blue nail polish. It's a bit mum boot, isn't it?

I've just put some on my toes. I fear it's a bit "ooh I'm crazee me".

I have a turquoise Leighton Denny on my toes, dark green Chanel on fingers. My toes are hidden because it is pissing down.

JimmyGreavesMoustache · 26/06/2016 18:07

i like do really like navyl, but can't wear it as my skin is so pale it makes me look a bit corpsey. Ditto taupes and greys. I'm stuck with rouge noir .

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 26/06/2016 18:07

Niminypiminy that is a seriously nice blue - what is it?

SealSong · 26/06/2016 18:08

I hate this 'mum boot' shit - it's sneering at other people's appearance choices.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 26/06/2016 18:15

Mum boots are boots that are typically worn by suburban women in their thirties, who have taken a few years to catch on to what the current trend is, and so are wearing boots that are in fact a few years out of date.

That's one definition, what do you think?

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/06/2016 18:20

I have gone full circle and back on the rouge noir since chanel have re-done their formula.

I'm not a fan of blue nail varnish but would rather that than a button moon necklace.

MrsCampbellBlack · 26/06/2016 18:23

I think the mum boots thing is actually more to do with the jeans they're worn with - slightly too uniform mid blue denim and ever so slightly the wrong length.

Could make even the coolest boots look wrong.

I feel a bit sad - we haven't had the annual school run dress ruckus thread. Could do with something to distract from the 100+ threads about brexit.

MsRinky · 26/06/2016 18:41

In the 90s I had a friend from the US bring me some ultra-cool Hard Candy nail varnish in a matte baby blue which you just couldn't get over here.

Wearing it lead to a very stressful moment, mid smear-test, when the nurse suddenly exclaimed "ooh, I've never seen anyone with that colour before!" before we established she was talking about my toenails rather than my cervix. Never worn it since.

Hopefully · 26/06/2016 18:43

I currently have bright tomato red on my toes and think that it looked a bit frumpy on me - I like it on my fingers, but I currently have greige fingers and red toes and it just screams 'I was too wimpy to go bright on my fingers.' I appreciate that is not remotely relevant to blue polish, but it's been irritating me since I painted them yesterday and I've been looking for someone to whinge to.

FrustratedFrugal · 26/06/2016 18:49

Mum boots have already experienced a comeback - and so have flappy too-short bootcuts.

Painting my toes blue tonight Wink

niminypiminy · 26/06/2016 18:54

Degustibus it's Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in mum boot blue Damson Smile

Haggisfish · 26/06/2016 19:11

I don't wear blue nail varnish as I think it looks a bit 'dead'!Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/06/2016 19:43

I quite like blue nail varnish. Denim and blue nail varnish pretty much the only blue stuff I ever wear.

I quite like some mum boots too though, and denim skirts.

Saw a woman last night wearing peach jeans and a button bracelet - now THAT was an 'Ooh I'm crazy, me' outfit.

BennyTheBall · 26/06/2016 19:48

Gah! My toenails are almost always Essie's Beach Bum Blu. Although they're currently Essie's Chinchilly, which is grey. I only switch from the blue every few days in case people think me a skank who never paints her toenails.

I am neither a rebel nor a mum booter.

cosmicglittergirl · 26/06/2016 20:04

I have baby blue nails and teal finger nails. Mum boots sound comfy.

Bolshybookworm · 26/06/2016 20:13

Another pasty rouge noir fan here. My favourite nail colour of all time- couldn't care if it's in fashion or not.

I do miss the brief, late noughties fashion for neon nails. Still miss my neon pink essie.

Polkadot1974 · 26/06/2016 20:16

Oh I like navy too. Knew I was doomed when k started reading these threads but have had some tips to drag me away from mum gloom- also love Jo's Glastonbury outfits

Madbengalmum · 26/06/2016 20:20

Not into blue nails,sorry

shins · 26/06/2016 20:45

Too pale so they look a bit necrotic on me.

Love this thread though; don't really mind being judgy or judged. As Mr Bennett says in Pride and Prejudice - "For what do we live but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn?"

leedy · 26/06/2016 22:29

I have navy blue toenails. I like them.

midnightmoomoo · 26/06/2016 22:35

I wore baby blue toenails as my 'something blue' when we got married a long time ago

LBOCS2 · 26/06/2016 22:45

I have many blue nail varnishes I have many nail varnishes. I have recently found the holy grail of navy varnishes; not sparkly or shimmery, a good rich colour - Nails Inc's The Serpentine. Everyone should wear it.

JaceLancs · 26/06/2016 22:53

I'm on lilac at the moment was going to go bright turquoise next time but you've put me off!

JackandDiane · 26/06/2016 22:58

Currently wearing Chanel Le Vernis No 707 Mediterranée on my toes. I guess that's more of a teal - does that still make me a mum boot?
not that I'll stop wearing it as it's my favourite colour!
