Cath Kidston ...what are your thoughts?

Personally I like a lot of the prints, mainly floral but some others like gnomes, Cowboys, sausage dogs and kittens.

However, I do think it is incredibly overpriced for the level of quality, in recent years. On Facebook groups and on reviews of Cath Kidston products, there seems to be many customers complaining of faulty stitching on purses/bags and about clothing items (possible sizing issues im not sure).

I can't remember the name of the person/company who took over from Cath, herself, but IMO they are ruining the brand by not being consistent with product quality.

Anyway, what are your thoughts when you heard the name Cath Kidston or see someone with the brand over their shoulder or in their bags, etc?

I have one of the oilcloth (?) bags. It was a Christmas present, and while I would never have chosen it myself, it's the one bag that I use all the time! It's a good colour though, like a dull teal with off white spots, so it goes with a lot of my clothes. I dislike the floral ones!

hotdiggedy · 22/06/2016 18:48

Not really a fan. Too floral and overpriced.

Greenteandchives · 22/06/2016 18:50

Overpriced for what it is.

Muskey · 22/06/2016 18:53

I don't like kath kidson stuff. It looks like it has been washed far too many times and reminds me of stuff that people wore in the 1950s

Kenworthington · 22/06/2016 18:54

Awful passé mumsy shite

didireallysaythat · 22/06/2016 18:55

Don't like. Flowers, dots and all so Kidston. The American tourists like the shops though so quite popular I guess, just not my thing.

hormental · 22/06/2016 18:57

I find it twee. Not a fan

Hoppinggreen · 22/06/2016 19:02

I've got some nice floral trainers and a plain tshirt.
Wouldn't buy most of their stuff though

BananaChew · 22/06/2016 19:08

Not a fan.

hollyisalovelyname · 22/06/2016 19:47

I like it. It's pretty.
I can't stand Orla Kiely stuff though. Far too mustard and dull brown Smile

Buttwing · 22/06/2016 19:51

Straight to the point there Ken!! But very trueGrin

EmGee · 22/06/2016 19:52

I like the spotty stuff rather than the floral. I also tend to buy teacher gifts from there (nice pencils etc). I only buy in the sale though!!

Last time I was there I was tempted to buy some of the kids PJs. They looked really cute and similar in quality to Petit Bateau PJs.

Kummerspeck · 22/06/2016 19:52

I think it is cheap, tacky shit and can't believe people are suckered into paying that much for it

YourPerception · 22/06/2016 19:57

It's hit and miss. I agree quality is no longer there.

MadisonMontgomery · 22/06/2016 19:58

I like some of it - I've got a couple of oilcloth bags that are a fair few years old now that I use for shopping & they are holding up well.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 22/06/2016 19:59

I actually despise it. wouldn't be seen dead in it.

Thecazelets · 22/06/2016 19:59

I had a CK towelling dressing gown as a present that I had to take back as the quality was so poor. It put me off tbh although my current purse is CK (also a gift) and is actually wearing v. well. I used to have the oilcloth tablecloths etc when dcs were small - probably why it all feels a bit ten years ago to me. DD likes the floral/dotty satchels as schoolbags though.

Nepotism · 22/06/2016 20:09

Love it in moderation. Best bed linen I've ever had came from there 10 years ago and still looks new. Curtain fabric great quality. I'm too old for the clothes but have a couple of bags.

Kenworthington · 22/06/2016 20:17

I wanted to make sure Yu were all totally aware of my view on the subject and not open to misinterpretation buttGrin

P1nkP0ppy · 22/06/2016 20:22

It's like the original Laura Ashley, overrated, expensive and ubiquitous and Orla Kiely's up there too.
😟

cruikshank · 22/06/2016 20:22

It's for women who pretend they don't have vaginas.

Shit, twee, overpriced crap. Seriously, if you're thinking of spending your money on that shite, just give it to me instead. I'll stroke your arm and tell you you've got good taste, even in the midst of floral/spotty horrors and the best bit about it is that you won't have to carry around a mumsy supposed status signifier afterwards.

Cocolepew · 22/06/2016 20:23

I wouldn't wear the clothes but have a few bags which I love. I would like some kitchen stuff too.
I do like vintagey florals anyway.

Cocolepew · 22/06/2016 20:24

I know I have a vagina and dont think Im mummsy btw.

DianaT1969 · 22/06/2016 20:26

No way. Ever. Am nauseous even passing a shop.
