How much did you spend on your wedding dress? Any regrets?

As the title says.

I ask because this is my dream dress:

The wedding is going to be a boho sort of ceremony abroad and I just love this dress. I am not sure I want to be spending nearly two grand on the dress though as that is the same price as the wedding package!

Did you spend a lot and find it was absolutely worth it? Or more importantly, did you spend a minimal amount on the dress and feel amazing?

Any links to cheaper alternatives for a boho kind of feel would be great. I am a size 8-10 but I have a mum tum so skin tight would not be great. Temperature is going to be about 30 so not even sure on what fabric I should be going for. Help?

It was roughly 2K nearly 16 years ago. But it was from Ian Stuart and his wedding dresses are beautifully theatrical, and I felt like a fairy tale princess in it.

Worth every single penny, and more...

Though it's been in a box, in the attic for the last 15 years Smile

My sister got married abroad and paid 2K for her dress. She wore it for about ten hours and it has been in her attic for the last six years. Imo it is a crazy amount of money for a few photographs. I'd prefer to blow it on a shopping spree or a holiday but it is relative to your personal finances and how much it means to you.

If you can afford it, that is a beautiful dress

I spent around £900 14 years ago. I did really love the dress and felt lovely in it - but I have seen many brides in much cheaper dresses look so stunning that I think I didn't need to spend that much. My sister bought a dress for £90 and looked lovely and my best friend bought a 2k dress but second hand for much less.

Beautiful dress! I'm getting married in September and I spent €1800 on my dress, €300 on the veil, I love it and I can't wait to wear it! If you can afford it, go for it!!

I paid about £100 for my wedding dress. I had it made and it was a 1950's knee-length aline dress (summer wedding). The only regret I have about it is not getting the bodice tailored nearer to the day as it was a little lose around my chest area. Oh, and donating it to charity a few years back! :S

Bolero - £30
Petticoat - £60
Alterations - £25

It was exactly what I wanted - 50s style circle dress. I hate long dresses on me so the tea length was great, I could dance in it and I could move easily.

I came on here to gloat about how cheap my wedding dress was (£55) but now I see that I already did, and that this is a zombie thread, grrrr.

My dress really was an excellent bargain, though. Only £55.

MIne was £1400 from Jenny Packham. It was/ is absolutely beautiful and we could comfortably afford it. I felt great in it.

However, if we got married now I'd do the whole thing differently. Just the two of us and ds, maybe abroad, very low key, with probably a dress from Monsoon or something. I wouldn't spend that much now, I wore it for a total of 12 hours!!!! So that's like £105 an hour of wear! Hmm

£38 an dit was a lovely Eliza j dress.
Do t regret it for a moment.

That dress is very reminiscent of the Quiz dresses.
Are you sure you want to spend £2k...on a dress?

£125 off a high street website, I am not a dressy person and didn't see the point in spending a lot for one day, people kept telling me what a nice wedding dress it was and I was very pleased to tell them how cheap it was

Spent £199 on mine 26 years ago, quite a different colour for the time, went shopping on my own chose it on my own. Really I was more bothered about just getting married and going off on honeymoon than faffing about with dresses. But we paid for everything so I was not prepared to spend more for the just over 4 hours I wore it.

I look at it now and again, wrapped in its box in the attic, filthy around the bottom from sand and grass and really its quite awful, but liked (not loved) it at the time.

But I did fall in love with a very pale blue Victorian 2 piece which was almost £1000 and £650 to hire, could not justify that cost!

I like your dress your thinking about, but do agree with everyone else about looking at the high street, but if your hearts set and you can justify it to yourself, why not!

Mine was a Justin Alexander 50's style ankle length dress. It cost £1500. Not the style I wanted at all but fell in love with it on sight and it felt so right when I tried it on that I refused to even try anything else. It's perfect for a low key wedding we planned too. However I haven't worn it yet as just a few weeks after buying it we found out that we are expecting so had a quick registry office wedding just the two of us and were going to have the wedding party this August actually but two months ago we ve found I am expecting again!! So it's postponed again! 😩 I call it the fertility dress! One day I ll get to wear it 😂

I bought a Jenny packham for £1400 and sold it (when Kate Middleton started wearing her stuff) for £650! I was delighted! My dress was similar to yours and sold quite easily as the evening dress styles are harder to come by. I'd buy it.

Mine was 1000. I don't regret it. It was just what I wanted.
I tried cheaper dresses and they don't have the same structure and support. So it depends what you need.

Getting married in two weeks, we had 7 weeks to plan the entire thing!
Dress cost £750 then £150 for alterations.
It's absolutely stunning, nothing like I thought I'd go for but is perfect for me. I honestly couldn't justify spending over £1000 on a dress, the only reason I went over my budget of £500 was because I got a gift from a family member.

I kinda still feel guilty that I have a £900 dress and husband to be only has a £180 suit!
