How much did you spend on your wedding dress? Any regrets?

The wedding is going to be a boho sort of ceremony abroad and I just love this dress. I am not sure I want to be spending nearly two grand on the dress though as that is the same price as the wedding package!

Did you spend a lot and find it was absolutely worth it? Or more importantly, did you spend a minimal amount on the dress and feel amazing?

Any links to cheaper alternatives for a boho kind of feel would be great. I am a size 8-10 but I have a mum tum so skin tight would not be great. Temperature is going to be about 30 so not even sure on what fabric I should be going for. Help?

DW spent £650 on her dress eleven years ago. I still think it's a lot for something she only wore once, though I appreciate it's cheap in comparison to some other dresses!

That's a beautiful dress (although the model looks particularly gormless) but I'd personally balk at spending £2k on it. If you can afford it and really love it, though, then go for it. Wear a pair of Spanx underneath for your tummy!

I spent around £750 20 years ago. I really loved it and it doesn't look dated in my photos now.

I spent less on my dress than my mother did on her shoes.

I spent £60! My only regret? Guests were hugely complimentary, comments included 'that's the most amazing wedding dress ever' but how did I respond to each compliment? 'Oh god it was dead cheap, only £60 but thanks' Wish I'd just smiled wistfully and said 'why, thank-you' No class me!

That's a lovely frock! Just bloody spend it if you can afford it, why not? I got married 16 years ago and literally bought the first thing I tried on, I just couldn't be bothered. It cost about £150 at the time. It's the one thing I regret about the day. Even at the time I just thought 'thatll do', I was you g and slim and it fitted me, I would prob have looked good in a sack at that point. But yeah a lovely dress imo is really worth it

I second the above poster, just spend what you like (and can afford!) it's your day and your dress!

I think I spent £15 It was a cream skirt suit off the market and it was a long time ago, but I dont regret it at all, it looked good, if I do say so myself and it was very a cheap do

£1500. Don't regret it. We could afford it and it was my perfect dress.

Daydream I do that all the time too! It's a wicked dress for the price that's amazing! When we got married there just wasn't anything available that would have been suitable outside of wedding shops

It's a really lovely dress and perfect for a beach wedding. I do think it's expensive but it depends on how important it is to you. I spent about £1,200 on mine and to be honest I do now think it's a waste when you only wear it for a few hours. But I've never been one of those people who has dreamed about their wedding dress since they were a little girl, and I've always been quite practical and careful with money.

I'd look for similar in bridal shops you never know what you may find, but if you haven't found anything that you love as much and can afford it then go for it.

You won't regret wearing the dress of your dreams on your big day. I spent a lot on mine and still love looking at it and love how it made me feel and looked in my wedding pics

That's the thing. It would be a stretch. The wedding package doesn't include accommodation, photographer and a couple of other bits. It's money that should be being spent elsewhere. The whole point of going abroad was to keep costs down and not have tons spent on things we don't care about. I'm just trying to work out how much I care about the dress.

£1200 I felt like a princess in it and didn't want to take it off! So for me it was completely worth it

Mine was £62.50, I don't regret it. I loved my dress, still do. I have on occasion just randomly put it on and sat watching TV in it . I did try on and put a deposit (only £20) on another dress it was £1199 but still couldn't get my dress out of my head.

I spent £1250 on mine and don't regret it at all. It was beautiful and I loved it. If you can afford it go for it. If not, perhaps see if someone can make you something similar for less?

€1500. And that was a decade ago. For a couple of years I thought about selling it but never got round to it. Maybe my daughter will alter it to her taste some day. I don't really care.

Tbh it was worth it as I was a bit podgy around the middle at the time and I had tried on 40 dresses that just made me look heavy and matronly. This sucked me in and made me look youthful and light.

Sadly a lot of cheaper dresses seem to be designed for those with more willowy figures.

I spent £300 and do regret not spending more on something I loved. The style was beautiful (designers at debenhams ) but I easily could have afforded more. I don't know why I didn't.

£80. I don't regret spending more. I thought I would but I'm really happy with what I had. You'd never have known it was so cheap :)

I go to loads of weddings, I'm not invited just do a job in the church but what drives us all potty is strapless dresses, so many brides look exactly identical surely not what you want on your special day

10 years ago my dress was £120 and a matching jacket was meant to be £160, but then went in to the sale so I took it back and re-purchased it for £80!

They were from Monsoon...the current range is pretty extensive and would be worth a look.

I loved my dress, I really did, but, of course, I've only worn it once. It's not that I regret it but even at £200 I think it was a lot of money for one day, a cost-per-wear basis.

I think mine was £180 from Monsoon. It was 15 years ago and the dress IMO was perfect. Very simple, classic and fairly timeless. It's the most I've ever spent on a dress. I would not have wanted to spend more than I did. There are many other things I prioritise more than a dress that I wore for one day.
