Not vintage just something you've had for years.
I have a jumper I had at school and it still has a name tape sewn - it's 23 years old and worn regularly. It's a plain red hand knitted cotton jumper.
I also have two navy blue t-shirts that I've had for at least 25 years - I wore one the first time I kissed a boy - they are just thick cotton but amazing quality and have a very flattering sleeve length and hold their shape. I wore one yesterday. No idea what brand they were.

I also chucked some socks two years ago that my mother and I had both worn regularly - I nicked them off her - she bought them in Argentina in 1978.

I still have the dress I wore to my mum's funeral in 1990. I also wore it to my dad's funeral in 2002 (I do have plenty of other black clothes. My entire wardrobe almost is black). And my MIL's funeral last year. I guess it's my funeral dress now.

Re the sizing thing - it's a Next dress, size 8. It's noticeably smaller than size 6 Next dresses from last summer. And it hasn't shrunk - it's dry clean only. I know people don't like it when those of us with memories and/or clthes from way back when to actually physically check say this, but sizes have clearly changed A LOT over the years.

nickEcave · 17/06/2016 16:45

I still have the claret coloured silk nightie that I wore as an evening dress to a university ball 25 years ago. It's size 8 and very low cut so I didn't wear a bra. Post-children I am size 12 with 32FF norks, so won't be wearing it again! I also still have a tiny black lace and sequin waistcoat from my teenage goth days. My 9 year old daughter now has it in her dressing up box.

imsorryiasked · 17/06/2016 16:49

A navy blue jumper that my nan made for my first Guide camp in 1984. I wear it for gardening now.

ChishandFips33 · 17/06/2016 17:05

I have a cropped jumper my other half bought me off his own doing not long after we started going out - it'll be 24yrs old - I keep it cos it's something that's never been repeated!!

I also have my pram outfit from when I was a few months old! 40+ years ago!

Lweji · 17/06/2016 17:12

Until recently I had a jumper and skirt I bought about 28 years ago.
But still have a tunic I bought in Morocco 23 years ago. I almost never wear it.
A wooly wrap skirt and a wooly jumper, about 25 years old.
And a silk kimono robe that belonged to my mother. No idea how old. Possibly as old as me, in its 40s. I don't wear it, though.
I really should declutter.

CointreauVersial · 17/06/2016 17:13

I've not kept many old things, but I do have a black pencil skirt which DM made for me when I went to university, in 1985. So it's 31 years old.

I can just about get into it, but the waist is much too tight on my post-3-DCs tummy. I'll hang onto it for a while, though.

KatieHopkinsAteMyHamster99 · 17/06/2016 17:25

I have a blue and white stripy tshirt that I bought from M&S when I was 14, it's perfectly wearable still (am 42 now)

The oldest thing I wear regularly is Gap raincoat from 2002

BobbinThreadbare123 · 17/06/2016 17:35

I've got a Topshop black silk jacket embroidered with white Oriental patterns that is about 13 years old. I have a children's t-shirt which I have had for nearly 25 years (it's a Disney) and it became a pyjama top some years back. It's rather short and all its glittery bits have gone. I'm 32.

Pretty ruthless here.

90% of my wardrobe is under 2 years old.

I have a 6 year old 'occasion' dress which I know I will probably never wear again, but it was expensive and I only wore it twice and can't bear to give it up yet.

I dont have a thing from my youth. I was two dress sizes smaller then anyway, so good job Grin

quirkychick · 17/06/2016 17:54

I'm pretty ruthless too, but I have got some favourites from years ago. I have some 501s from the early 90s that I have kept. A velvet jacket that was my mum's, so 70s or 80s, a Spanish shawl that was my grandma's which is probably 50s. I have a Guess leather jacket from the late 90s too.

It kind of balances out all the new stuff Blush.

Yy to changing sizes, I have a topshop skirt from the late 80s that is a size 12, I am now modern size 10/12 but there's no way I could get into it now... it's probably a modern day size 8 or 6!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 17/06/2016 17:58

I have a 21 year old dress which I wore to a gig recently and one of the guitarists in the band told me they liked me dress. Don't think she was taking tne piss, she asked where it was from!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/06/2016 18:00

My funeral skirt, which is a lovely black wool Jaeger pencil skirt from the 60s that my mum handed down. Size 12 and thus barely fits me as I am a modern 10.

mckenzie · 17/06/2016 18:41

a thermal vest, bought from Mothercare in 1985, girls size 140cm, white with a tiny pink flower on each strap. It has a tiny hole in it but still fits perfectly and I plan on keeping it forever. Smile

UhtredRagnorsson · 17/06/2016 18:53

mckenzie I had a wonderful thermal vest (damart. Good proper stuff) purchased in 1979 which sadly DD1 stole a couple of years ago. She still wears it regularly. I am hoping she leaves it behind when she goes to college so I can nick it back. I have a PLAN.

JaceLancs · 17/06/2016 19:05

Oldest is probably a pair of yellow kickers which are 34 years old
I have a navy velvet coat which is always admired probably 26 years old
Some faux fur coats which were vintage when I bought them over 20 years ago
A Levi's denim shirt in a peach colour 25 years old and a Lee blue one similar age
I've kept a few classic straight jeans from 20 years ago in case I ever get that size again
Totally agree about sizing I kept a denim dress which is labelled size 14, DD who is a size 8 and occasionally size 6 tried it and can't fasten it!!!!

OliveBranchCollins · 17/06/2016 19:35

My wedding dress which is 14yrs old and my 30yr old wooly hat that I wore when my parents brought me home from the hospital, and I brought my 3DC home in it too

Nepotism · 17/06/2016 20:37

A puffball dress from about 1984. NB I don't wear it! A black velvet boned dress from Laura Ashley from the same era. It's a size 12 and my DD wore it to her prom. She's a size 6/8!

AmberNectarine · 17/06/2016 23:45

A pencil skirt from Warehouse that I bought when I was 14. I was wearing it when I first kissed my DH at 23. I'm 31 now, so I guess it's 17y old.

I also wear a wide red waist belt that I stole from my mum's wardrobe in 2001 and it had probably been there at least 20y at that point!

FurryLittleTwerp · 18/06/2016 00:05

Short tight black denim skirt from Warehouse bought in 1986.

I changed the button - it was orange & I didn't like it - now black.

I dye it black when it fades.

Size 10 - still fits me although I'm currently a size 6-8 in moderntight denim skirts except the waist is still too big Hmm

I also have a pair of pale blue denim Wrangler drainpipe jeans circa 1986, that are dragged out for rock concerts only - I'm worried I'll spoil them Grin

Judydreamsofhorses · 18/06/2016 00:17

An a-line French Connection dress with a pussy-bow neck I bought in 2006, and paid a lot of money for. I wear it (now relegated to work wear) about once a fortnight. I long to find another keeper like that.

TheMightyMing · 18/06/2016 00:46

A black sheer shirt from Morgan ( remember Morgan!!!) that I bought in 1997. It was tiny and very tight! I met my DH around that time when I was about 26. Even that long ago I remember it being about fifty quid I'm sure.

I've hung onto it, I wore it unbuttoned whilst pregnant in 1998 a la All Saints :) . It wouldn't go near me for many years but due to developing a love for the gym it fits as well as it did all those years ago and I have worn it a couple of times this year :) My husband recognised it all these years later!

GiddyOnZackHunt · 18/06/2016 00:52

My dad's overcoat bought in 1961. It's very comfy. And my granddad's gloves c1980.
Bought new? My favourite shirt dates from 1992. My decorating jumper is from 1985. Rugby shirts from 1983. I have my white and gold scarf form the early 80s.

SenecaFalls · 18/06/2016 00:59

A fringed black rebozo (long shawl/wrap) a friend gave me nearly 50 years ago that she brought back to me from a trip to Mexico when we were in high school. I still wear it on a fairly regular basis.

OlennasWimple · 18/06/2016 02:55

I have a proper Breton top from Brittany that must be 20+ years old and I still wear regularly

Last year I threw out a pair of Calvin Klein undies that were about 24 years old 😳 They had started to fade a few years back but the elastic started to go so I had to get rid. They really really don't make them like that anymore
