This is for my mum, she needs help!
Wedding in the summer in a castle. The invitation says black tie / evening dress. My mum is 5ft1, size 10, she is 61 but looks about 40. Dark brown hair olive skin. She has looked and looked but can't find anything to buy, so, style and beauty gurus, can you find my mum a frock?

Ted Baker are great for dresses like that. Fitted on the top and flared out. Have a look?

nancy75 · 22/05/2016 20:22

The French connection model is 9 inches taller so that would swamp her!

Another French Connection

nancy75 · 22/05/2016 20:24

Ted baker have got loads but they have lots of cut out bits or they are a bit short ( and she is super fussy!)

Oops, sorry for double post.

Any non-petite dress is going to be shown being on a model who's at least 5'7" and likely more towards 5'10". At 5'1" she is almost always going to need alterations or a petite cut- she's surely used to that?

nancy75 · 22/05/2016 20:30

I can't see it coughed, says page not found

My DD is 5'9" and has two Ted Baker dresses which are knee length on her. They are definitely not all short!

MrsLettuce · 22/05/2016 20:31

Or is she buying short dresses to wear as longer ones? THat does work for some women.

nancy75 · 22/05/2016 20:32

Mrs lettuce, that's why she thought midi rather than full length. The French connection dresses are floor length with beading to the hem, she would have to have about a foot cut off the bottom and they weren't dresses you could do that with.

Coast have a range of shorter length dresses.

Thank you coughed, I think that's too glittery! Sorry for saying no to everything Blush

I am going to a wedding in Spain next month. They tend to wear more evening type wear there for a wedding. I booked a personal shopper appointment in Debenhams. She had some things waiting for me which I immediately explained were not suitable and why, so she fetched another selection.

Choughed · 22/05/2016 20:36

No worries OP, it's no hardship to browse pretty dresses. I'm also a short size 10 so I'm not completely disinterested Wink

Buggers, I like the monsoon dress, however my mum hates the shop with a passion ( I worked there for 10 years and she didn't even want it with a discount!) she really doesn't do flowing!

What about The Outnet?

minipie · 22/05/2016 20:40

Chi Chi London, I will post a few links to examples in a minute.

I have ordered stuff from them and it was good quality despite being not that expensive.

Buggers · 22/05/2016 20:41

Ah that's a shame, I'll look on a different website. Any reason why she hates monsoon?

nancy75 · 22/05/2016 20:42

The Karen Millen one looks good, I could see her in that. She probably hasn't looked on the outnet so I will get her to look on there
