Pixie crop lover and haters - Come over here, I have a request...

So, am in the annual 'growing out of the crop' phase that will likely end in failure. I am nearly, nearly at a bob... butthe pixie itch is needing to be scratched!

I know pixies can be a diversive topic... some people luff 'em, some don't, so, rather than ask what I should do and people say what they prefer... can you show pic of slebs that have had crops with pics of them with crops and with longer hair, to see who does and doesn't suit.

Here's mine:

Ginnifer with cropped hair

Ginnifer with long hair

Anne Hathaway long hair

Anne Hathaway short hair

Personally I think these two look fab cropped... what others can you think of?

Lena Dunham..... Pixie suits her more to my mind.

Never head of Jamie Alexander but she looks pretty average with long and absolutely stunning with a crop.

I could be biased though, my hair's very similar although sadly I'm nowhere near as beautiful!

Some people just have iconic short styles and should never have anything else; I'd put Halle Berry and Winona Ryder in that category. Ginnifer G suits hers short but not too short - I like it with the heavy fringe.

JoyceDivision · 19/05/2016 22:20

Margot, I agree with that... halle, winona and Ginnifer with hevy fringe just seems to make them look perfect and elfin....

yet while I like posh spice with short hair I think she looked fab with the choppy bob

I think Emma Willis has the face for short hair, but not that particular Hitleresque style.

Which choppy Posh Bob do you mean Joyce? The inverted one which everyone and their Granny then got?

P.S. I'm tickled that Margot and Joyce are having a conversation on here - sounds like we're at the WI or something Grin.

ScarletForYa · 19/05/2016 22:39

I hate them on everybody.

Everyone always thinks Halle Berry but the reality is always more Denise Welsh.

SwedishEdith · 19/05/2016 22:41

I've only ever thought of Isabella Rossellini with short hair but she looked gorgeous with it long. I think the common theme is dark hair, huge eyes and a voluptuous mouth.

She's had loads of different styles.

I'm super interested in a crop....but not blessed with elfin features.

Can pixie crops work on 'normal' folk?

Also, what's the choppy cut that Posh spice got?

MargotLovedTom · 19/05/2016 23:17

I hate to say it but I think there's a risk of looking a bit butch with v short hair and non-elfin features.

CakeNinja · 20/05/2016 01:08

I love a really short crop on women, but do feel you need really defined features to really pull off the sharpness or else risk becoming what I would look like - a scalped marshmallow Grin
I don't think that has to mean skinny and petite, but just quite defined cheekbones and jawline.

Runningupthathill82 · 20/05/2016 07:38

I love a crop on the likes of Carey Mulligan...but have only once seen the style look good on any of my friends.

Friend in question who carries it off fantastically is tiny (about 5ft and a size 6) and blessed with fantastic cheekbones and a small, angular face.

Numerous other friends have gone for the chop, hated it, and grown it out. I think it's a very unforgiving style which takes a certain face shape to pull off. I would look dreadful with one - all chubby cheeks and double chins.

Merrybertie · 20/05/2016 07:47

I'm just growing a crop out after having it for 20 years. It looked far better when I was in my 20s/early 30s. Now at 40 and having put on a shedload of weight i looked butch and as a pp said far less halle berry and far too much Denise watserherface. I think if i lost 5 stone it would be ok but not great. So I'm aiming for collar length and hoping it won't be too meh. Totally get the itch to have a pixie cut again though.

Most of the women who look good with pixies have pointy chins.

I'd love a pixie but I do not have a pointy chin. Cut my hair short and I look terrible Sad

froubylou · 20/05/2016 08:03

Arrrggghhhg wish I hadn't opened this thread. Currently just growing out a pixie and almost at bob length. But I really really want a pixie cut now.

Sadly I am still carting around about 3 stone too much to carry it off. But I suppose a new hair do is an incentive to keep losing the weight.

I always look like an escaped extra from cell block h with a pixie cut unless I am well below 11 stone.

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 20/05/2016 08:03

I've had everything from tiny pixie to waist length and currently a lob.

Loved my pixie but found I couldn't go make-up free as I looked too plain. Also it's high maintenance as you need regular trims. But it was soooo liberating and I did love it.

coveredinhopeandvaseline · 20/05/2016 08:04

Seriously...I look like a boiled egg with short hair if I'm carrying extra weight...but I have quite a heavy jawline, which looks great when I'm at my usual weight, but less so at the moment!!!
