The Crepey Buds Of May

Err, how did that happen with no one noticing!
It's because we're all on the dark and stormy, sloe gin and prosecco innit.

Sorry for the not v inspired title but I panicked.

Aww, thanks for asking - she is fine (especially after a nap!) She was laughing about it over dinner - she said her HOY and her male Eng Lit teacher looked more panic - stricken than her when they tried to calm her down before the exam, and the female teacher had to step in! At least they can now see that we haven't been exaggerating the extent of it.

MrsS, glad they sorted it. I hope your DH is giving you sympathy and gin Wink

herbaceous · 20/05/2016 19:57

I hold a similar fondness for jacuzzis.

Mrs S - I hope DH hasn't asked what's for dinner. Or that if he has, you have delivered a roundhouse kick to the chops.

Re Northumberland, I don't suppose for a moment it will be nice weather. When holidaying in the UK, we take with us rain and cold, even in otherwise warm and settled periods.

Hatty - I am the only driver, and don't really like driving more than two or three hours a day.

Lalsy · 20/05/2016 20:12

Very glad, BTM!

Herbs, we do that too. We managed to bisect a heatwave last year. And we once drove to newcastle from London, Christ on a bike (he'd have ben faster), never again.

hattymattie · 20/05/2016 20:23

Oh Herbs - I didn't realise - it's at least 8 hours drive - train it then - get a direct to York then Newcastle (IMHO weird people always get on at Peterborough - not really sure why).

Mrs S - so glad the offending article has been removed - good luck again for tomorrow with dear old puss.

BTM - glad DD is a bit calmer. I have plied DD2 with Hagen Daaz. She has had 7 hours of maths today. Tomorrow is school prom, so we'll nip into town for sandals. They have organised an Uber car to bring them back - brilliant!

motherinferior · 20/05/2016 20:30

We have driven from London to Newcastle with a carsick DD2.

Cremo · 20/05/2016 20:30

Mrs S. Glad you are ok. Hope the journey is manageable with Pink Kitty.
It for the best. You can imagine her happy wearing a tam 'o shanter and doing the Highland Fling. Or gambolling in ecstacy over the glens and airy mountains. Och aye.
=_=

Herbs & you are pure filth btw. Grin
Have googled op, and it may just be wrist splints.

motherinferior · 20/05/2016 20:31

I am packing because in case I didn't mention it I am going to ItalyGrinGrinWine

Cremo · 20/05/2016 20:34

S&b approval; this

hattymattie · 20/05/2016 20:37

We do Folkestone - Teesside (DH does the France stretch). I have to say when we went to Devon last year I discovered East/West was pretty much as long as this, with slower motorways.

Crem - I'm sure they won't leave you incapacitated.

addle · 20/05/2016 20:43

Lovely dress Crem

MI - capsule wardrobe? actually, if anyone does have suggestions for holiday wardrobe I'd welcome them. I always get into a right state.

BTM - glad DD recovered so well.

Mrs S glad you're ok and will be thinking of you tomorrow

As always, impressed with teh level of filth on this thread - looking at you Herbs and Mrs S but missing Stropps

motherinferior · 20/05/2016 20:48

Really lovely dress.

I appear to be taking most of my collection of charity shop white linen tops. This is utterly stupid but I like them.

hattymattie · 20/05/2016 20:48

Have a fantastic time MI - change as good as a rest and all that. You might get some sunshine as well.

Nice dress Crem.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/05/2016 20:52

I am worse in real life, Addle, and am often described at work as "having no filter between brain and mouth". I think this is unfair, as I do sometime pause before coming out with something. However, I am starting to write some porn now, to while away my evenings (and essentially I want to see if I can do it - writing about sex is not easy).

Where are you going again, MI? GrinGrin

I am still a bit of an emotional mess, but hopefully next week will be better.

herbaceous · 20/05/2016 20:54

Lovely dress crem. I want one now.

DP is unexpectedly late out, and there is NO WINE in the house. I have resorted to a flat G&T, and commanded he come home sharpish, bearing a bottle of red. I have also ordered a Mexican takeaway. It's been a lovely relaxing day of not rushing hither and yon, for the first time in weeks.

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2016 07:36

Lovely dress Cremo - would look great on you!

MI, I hope you are up and on your wayEnvy

MontserratCaballe · 21/05/2016 07:45

Buon viaggio, MI Smile

Mrs S - hope your day is as gentle as it can be. Presume you are staying overnight. Hope your poor face is on the mend Flowers.

Crem, the dress is gorgeous.

Mothers of teenagers - I have my 15 y old babysitter coming round this morning to babysit, er, the freezer. Curry's helpfully gave me a 13h time slot for delivery and installation of said new freezer and DH is living it up at a music festival. I need to take my children to ballet, drama, etc etc so teenager coming to man the joint and will ring if they come when I am out. I am 5 m away and will come back. She is going to be here 9.45 til 12. How much should I pay her? What is reasonable for just being in without any children? I pay her about £7 an hour for looking after the kids. £15? Not enough? Too much? Help please.

MontserratCaballe · 21/05/2016 07:52

In S and B news, I have bought these which are fab.

I also have bought a skirt good for work

Just need some sun now to wear them all....

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2016 07:54

Monty, in a situation where I am less than 20mins away, I ask that they ring half an hour before they are going to arrive and I dash home when the phone goes (usually from work) - do you actually need someone there?

If you do, then £15 sounds fine (particularly if she is going to be just sitting doing homework/watching TV!)

hattymattie · 21/05/2016 07:56

Monty - £7 seems more than reasonable as there aren't even any children to babysit. It's the freezer - what could go wrong?

hattymattie · 21/05/2016 07:57

Oh - you mean £15 in total - yes go for it (sorry just woke up)Blush

MontserratCaballe · 21/05/2016 07:57

Hm - this is Curry's who don't offer that level of customer service alas. I think I need someone here as they will bugger off if the door isn't answered straight away. If you think £15 ok, I will give her that. I would have paid that for a timed delivery slot but I was told such things don't exist. John Lewis wanted £150 more so I had to go with Curry's on the Brixton Road.

Blackduck · 21/05/2016 07:59

Monty I bought those in the grey alternative! (I am not a big one on very bright bottoms...)

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/05/2016 07:59

On train with very distressed cat. I look as if I am fleeing an abusive relationship. I have no luggage, a cat and a large hospital dressing on my face.

hattymattie · 21/05/2016 08:00

Like the Uniqlo clothes too - would love to dare to wear patterned trousers - I'm such a boring dresser. Will wait for the sales and buy a zigzag pair that I've been eyeing;

Rosebag · 21/05/2016 08:12

Lovely style hauls cremo and monty. Yes £15 sounds fine. Life's too short to stay in for deliveries!

MI hope you're on your way now and that its just the time you need right now. You rock a red lip. I still rely on my trusty No 7 shiny conker. It's probably discontinued. I do have to lighten it a bit these days as I grew old! Blot it a bit more than I used to.

mrsS hope your poor heads starts to heal soon ...will this be the end of it? And good luck on your trip north with the hapless shitten Flowers

Will catch up on other stuff later. I am knackered from a 3 hour really intense meeting with CEO yesterday. Today I am teaching teachers in the Euston area....NOT under the umbrella of annoying trustee organisation...its as an independent for the first time. Somewhat nervous.
