Spotted someone in town wearing silver mules, 2 hours later I bought these from Topshop Blush

My name is SalmonMaki and I'm a shoe addict

Also, last week I bought that H&M khaki jacket someone linked to - but in navy. Damn these S&B threads!

niminypiminy · 24/05/2016 22:04

Remus if you come into some money, I can vouch for the quality of Marimekko clothes. I have a cotton jersey dress and it looks brand new after 3 years and hundreds of washes, and is made really well - for example it has bust darts so that it fits neatly over the shoulders, and the neck is finished nicely so that it sits properly. Really recommended as an investment.

JackandDiane · 24/05/2016 22:05

as a Finn by name I vouch for Marimekko
Only use the homeware tho

It's definitely worth signing up to the Marimekko newsletter if you like the look of their stuff. They have some very good sales (I bought that skirt last year with 50% off) and as Niminy says excellent quality.

SalmonMaki · 24/05/2016 22:14

I know what you mean Jack about that style of shoe - but the woman I spotted made them look so wearable and comfortable!

All these 80s, 90s & 00s styles that we're revisiting, I'm currently using a bucket bag fgs! Should have kept them all from the first time round.

taybert · 24/05/2016 22:30

Got this denim jacket in the end. It's nothing special but a nicer colour than the picture and ticks the box.
Alas, my current quest is for work clothing following weight loss. I've bought quite a bit of casual stuff but have rather neglected the work wardrobe. Falling down trousers and sack dresses are not a good look. So far I've got the plain Boden Ruched skirts and black and navy slim trousers. Nice summer work tops anyone?

AdoraKiora · 24/05/2016 22:32

I know Bon Prix is the naffs of naff, but I bought these in the silver/navy/white to go with a specific outfit and they are SO much nicer in RL and very comfy. Might need to tuck in to the other other colour. I bought something from JD Williams last week. Slap me, somebody, please. It'll be Per Una next Grin.

Bare legs. Was chilly by afternoon, but its a very flattering dress. Got compliments.

Right, I have GOT to impose a clothes buying ban on myself until September now. I have more summer clothes than i am ever going to wear this year. S&B junkie!

Yeah, I ordered a ravello top but it was cream, thus see through and unsuitable for a health professional so it went back. I could try other colours I guess. Is the uniqlo Tshirt the drapey one? I've been wearing those for the last couple of weeks and they are good but I was meaning to have those for non work. I have a bit of a thing about there being no crossover between work and non work wear. It is a completely made up segregation that exists only in my head though so I should probably just get over that if something is suitable for both!

taybert · 25/05/2016 08:07

My room is starts the day completely freezing then becomes stifling at about 1 o'clock. Luckily, I have an array of uniqlo Cardigan jackets.

notagiraffe · 25/05/2016 08:09

That Anthropologie skirt is gorgeous. Wish I had the legs for it.

PrimalLass · 25/05/2016 09:13

Nice summer work tops anyone?

I've just found a couple in Sainsburys this morning, on my way to work

There is a 25% discount thing on Tu clothes so they were very cheap. Both broderie type cotton tshirts.6

Plus a linen-ey blazer that was £25 minus tje 25%. It is perfect for both work and casual. I'll have to get another button hole put in as its a bit gapey across the boobage.

And a yellow, sleeveless broderie top that will be lovely with turned up jeans and sandals.

To be honest, the quality is just the same as Boden for the things I bought today, and a quarter of the price.

taybert · 25/05/2016 09:25

I looked in Sainsbury's yesterday, they had some nice stuff but the store I was in didn't have any in my size. I did get a nice gruffalo t shirt and some spider man pyjamas though so it was worth a look!

KanyesVest · 25/05/2016 13:41

I've ordered a couple of linen t-shirts from la redoutte, linked to upthread, hope they are as useful as anticipated. I have one cream and one grey from other shops which I'm wearing a good bit. They do need a vest underneath for work though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2016 18:28

I really like the wooden block heeled sandals.

Don't like any of those skirts though, sorry. :(

AdoraKiora · 25/05/2016 19:08

Is there a Sainsburys with a good selection of clothing in north London (for next month, when my clothes buying ban is over, obviously Grin)?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2016 19:24

Absolutely love this but it's polyester. J&D will hate it.

Sainsbury stuff is top banana. I bought a couple of the broderie items but unfortunately they came up very small and had to go back or more likely I came up large.

My Boden Ruched top arrived - it is fab quality, double layer heavyweight jersey, and the neckline/shoulders are very flattering. But there isn't enough ruching in the world to completely disguise my flabby midriff - I am getting so fat at the moment.

It needs a loose/flowy bottom half, methinks - it looks good with a maxi skirt, and would look even better with the Marimekko gorgeousness linked by GGG. I do have a beautiful statement skirt, a double layer thing from Primark of all places, but I can't do it up at the waist any more. I may have to perform surgery on it or resort to safety pins beneath the ruches
