Where shall I look for good quality scarves?

I really like scarves and have quite a few from places like White Stuff, Fat Face etc. Mostly viscose.

I see women who look really put together wearing lovely quality (silk?) scarves, suddenly my viscose ones look a bit tatty Hmm

Where can I look? And what's the best way to tie them?

Jaeger have nice scarves and frequent sales Grin

I got lovely scarves from Seasalt. Not silk but a very light fine wool so like viscose but lovely and warm.

HeathrowExpress · 13/04/2016 09:51

TKMaxx have really nice silk scarves. Often they have some treasures from Moschino.

sleepwhenidie · 13/04/2016 09:53

Check out the Outnet and subscribe to sites such as Question Air, shopatanna, Trilogy, Donna Ida and jump when sales start Wink

sleepwhenidie · 13/04/2016 09:53

And look for YouTube tutorials for how to tie.

Becksondergaard do some lovely scarves. I buy them for my sister and she's always pleased. Tk maxx and asos often have them reasonably priced.

I have a beautiful indigo and white silk scarf from Anthropologie. I've also seen some really beautiful ones on Etsy.

mrslebon · 13/04/2016 13:47

Jigsaw have lovely scarves, esp the pom pom trimmed ones.

MrsFriskers · 13/04/2016 13:58

Liberty - can be eyewatering expensive, so I like to rifle charity shops and eBay.

JanTheJam · 13/04/2016 17:43

Lily and Lionel are the bees balls. I love all of mine and they have lasted YEARS. Exellent sample sales too.

Dancergirl · 13/04/2016 17:49

Thanks all will have a look.

A lot of the colours around at the moment seem quite muted and dull. I have fair skin and dark hair and I think I suit stronger colours.

Hermes, but spendy. Vintage Liberty. Moschino. Alexander McQueen. The colours on Hermes scarves are amazing.

Another vote here for Lily and Lionel and one for Beck Sondergaard. Have also got good scarves from Comptoir des Cotonniers, Whistles, LKB, and Hobbs

PerspicaciaTick · 13/04/2016 18:11

- there is a large range of designers at Liberty's

ZaraW · 14/04/2016 01:55

I have some beautiful scarves from A Peace Treaty their sales are very good.

101handbags · 14/04/2016 12:26

I'm a scarf addict - I second so many replies here - Becksondergaard, Whistles, Hobbs, Lily & Lionel, TK Maxx. The only one I can think off to add is Mercy Delta.

Lily & Lionel

Sara O'Neil does gorgeous silk scarves eadachbysaraoneill.wordpress.com/2015/11/21/limited-edition-scarves

A1Sharon · 14/04/2016 17:57

I'm tall and find scarves are often too short, are any of these recommended scarves longer in length? Ta.

Dancergirl · 14/04/2016 20:17

101 are the Mercy Delta ones silk, it doesn't say...?

Try antiques fairs or vintage fairs and look for fairs on antiques atlas website

or try ebay advice
www.ebay.co.uk/gds/VINTAGE-SCARVES-tips-for-buyers-budding-collectors-/10000000010109189/g.html
or the scarf room website
www.scarfroom.co.uk/
or maybe ask older friends and relatives -they may have some they are not wearing or be happy to talk

Dancergirl · 15/04/2016 11:04

Thanks, some really lovely suggestions but the prices!! Shock

The Scarf Room seem more reasonable, what is their quality like chatsworth?

I prefer rectangular to square ideally....

Hi - some are silk & some are wool/silk blend, it gives the details on each scarf individually. Re: the prices, I have plenty of cheap scarves too or buy a lot from TK Maxx, I've had Becksondergaard £79 scarves there for less than £20.

Dancergirl · 15/04/2016 11:18

I don't mind paying £70/80 but not into triple figures!!

I've used scarf room loads and love all my scarves from there, very good quality! They are really reasonably priced and they have some lovely silk ones on too I think. Also they usually have a new customer discount so it might be worth checking out...
