Where shall I look for good quality scarves?

I really like scarves and have quite a few from places like White Stuff, Fat Face etc. Mostly viscose.

I see women who look really put together wearing lovely quality (silk?) scarves, suddenly my viscose ones look a bit tatty Hmm

Where can I look? And what's the best way to tie them?

A1 Sharon, I have the same problem. TK Maxx is good but you have to be lucky. I like the length of www.scarfroom.co.uk scarves, this is the one i purchased last - hope this helps

yoox.com has a good selection of scarves, from basic to designer, at much more reasonable prices than conventional retail.

If you are any good at hand sewing you can also make your own. I used to check the remnant bin at Liberty and in the silk shops on Berwick Street in Soho for nice fabric, then hem them myself.

Liberty of London have an eBay store - they don't have stock regularly so out them on a watch/alert list. I've gotten incredible silk and cashmere scarves for £10-40, which would be about 10x as much in their store.

Tk maxx often have lovely obscure Italian and German brands that aren't well known here (Google in store). You have to go through all the tags and look for silk though. Lots and lots of synthetics: I look for summer scarves in winter - and vice versa - as they're always in their clearance section.

They haven't had anything for some months, so easiest is by their name libertylondonwholesale. Everything comes with original Liberty tags and/or boxes too. Tate have a shop too but thwhy only discount by 10-20% so not a great bargain at all. You can find some great scarves in their online shop but even at 50% sales, they're still a splurge.
