Help, we go to DLP at the end of the month and I do not have a clue what to wear. What would you wear to look chic but also practical? I don't want to end up With that sweaty harassed mum in all the holiday snaps .

Also the weather seems so changeable in Paris, when people say wear layers what exactly do you wear?? I feel I am either winter or summer, I just don't know how to do Spring!

Agatha, I can barely work out what to wear on that's one Spring day in Scotland so what on earth do you wear in Paris? I so don't want to be the overdressed, overheating mum, I just want to be cool for once!

Id forget stylish and wear trainers and a plastic bag poncho like everyone else 😉

I'm not sure that DLP is the place to worry about style. No-one else will care.

No one bothers, honestly. It's all warm coats, trainers, boots. And don't check the weather for Paris, check Chessy, because your miles away from Paris.

Layers definitely Layers. Download the met office app set one of the locations to DLP.

Layers for outside temperature 10°C -14°C roughly: thermal camisole, tshirt, lightweight jumper or cardigan, heavier weight fleece/hoody/jumper. denim skirt, velvet lined leggings (Primark), Dr Martens long boots thermal socks. coat and scarf .

If you are too hot on the first day or the met office is leaning to the upper end of that estimate, leave off the thermal vest and/or the lightweight sweater. If it's hovering between 14 and 15 degrees drop the thermal vest and heavy jumper or drop coat and thermal vest and carry a pac a mac, swap out the lined leggings for decent temp control opaque tights. I still need a scarf at either end but at 10°C it would be cashmere blend, at 14°C silk blend (I spend on my scarfs). You can swap the thermal leggings for jeans, thermal long johns and boots.

Your coat needs to be wind resistant, waterproof, have a hood and look good in photos. Mine has zipped pockets so I don't have to carry a bag.

No way don't bother! Have you seen how many photos you pose for!! I'm looking good for them whatever the weather.

I once didn't bother with make up. Never again!

God I didn't pose for any photos! Too busy taking them of the kids 😃

Incidentally it also works for kids clothes as well. Best way to avoid them being too hot/cold/wet. (If it's colder you add down or insulated coats.)

I like to be in as many of the photos with the kids as possible

I'm going in May and will be wearing Stan Smith Adidas, skinny jeans turned up at the ankle, a tshirt with navy blazer or Gap jumper, hair done, make up, nails done,jewellery...that's the kind of thing I wear/do everyday though.
I'll be bringing a light, waterproof,bum covering coat too.
I think the secret is finding comfy clothes that can still be a bit stylish. You don't have to wear sky scraper heels to be stylish, and stylish doesn't have to be uncomfortable or naff.

I'm just back from Orlando and I have one word for you: trainers. Wear the most comfortable pair you can find. We walked miles and miles, not to mention all the standing in queues.

Layers are as per pp - vest top, t-shirt, light cardie, fleece then waterproof. For bottoms jeans that you can wear long or rolled up. Works for kids too

Totally spot on. I also think the key to lookin stylish is also looking appropriate. Stylish people look comfortable whatever the weather because the have the right clothes that are appropriate to the right weather. The rest of us just have to work that with a capsule wardrobe. Generally, unless you are fortunate enough to look good in trainers, ditch the trainers.

Nickname I have a friend and she is the most stylish person I know. Doesn't matter what she has on, she just wears things so well.
I am definitely not like that! She was wearing a pair of silver glitter trainers the other day-so cool! I would look like I was wearing a pair of Lelli Kelly's .
Good trainers, jeans that suit you, good quality t, and a blazer is a good combo, in my opinion.
The jewellery/hair/nails etc will always lift both you and your outfit.

Just been and it was so changeable. Mostly wore things for comfort and warmth. It absolutely pissed it down one day so style won't come into it. Just wore - boyfriend jeans, boots/converse, striped shirts, don't forget the obligatory scarf/snood, parka or padded, quilted coat. Not high heels - the number of poor women stomping around in high heeled boots - non!

When I say trainers I mean Stan Smith/Converse/Superga. The latter two hurt my feet so I go with Stans.

We're going too but later on in the year so am soaking up all the tips too, thank you for starting this thread ticktock, I want to look half decent in photos too!

I have a midi dress from Oasis similar to this I will wear if it's warm, am hoping it would look ok with white trainers, I can dress up with flat sandals for evening and packs v small and doesn't crease. I like a denim jacket over it but they're then a pain to tie round your waist or carry if it warms up.

I picked up this jumper too as thought it would be nice to layer over tops, again will probably have to shove it in my bag if it gets too warm, I don't want to stretch the sleeves by tying it round my waist.

I was there at the beginning of May last year. It was quite changeable so layers are the way to go. We had some rain but also one afternoon of glorious sunshine.

Light layers and a light unlined waterproof jacket worked for me. My sister had a warmer coat that I did but she feels the cold.

I am not stylish at all and on a trip like this I made sure to pack for comfort.

I wore cropped jeggings and tunic, skinny jeans light top and light cardigan, cropped pattern trousers & linen t shirt on the warmest day and Birkenstocks or Superga depending on the rain.

No one was particularly dressed up. I can't say that I really noticed what anyone was wearing.

It did amuse me that it seemed lovely and warm to us having come from Ireland but people who regularly get actual sunshine were still in heavy coats

its a horrific place fashion wise and COLD as the wind can whistle through.
I have only been at 35 degrees but even then it was bearable because I think it is on a plain

I would agree jeans - something comfy ish on your feet ( but for me was just like a day shopping somewhere , I dont get the Mumsnet agonising over the MILES they walk on these threads) then a waterproof or WINDPROOF jacket

Pack lots of layers, it may be rainy and cold but we went once in early May and it was surprisingly warm and we were uncomfortable in our warm jumpers. Also waterproof coat with hood and comfy trainers/ankle boots.
Whatever you wear you'll feel positively chic compared to others in their Mickey sweatshirts with matching mouse ears!

Boating has it spot on. We walked 12km+ every day.

I wore stans, skinny jeans, Barbour jacket, maje sweaters or uniqlo merino jumpers. Rucksack or big cross body bag.

After 3 days I was in a Mickey Bobble Hat, Disney back pack and rain poncho!

Don't take a bag too big or wear a dress. You have to climb in and out of dirty, sometimes wet rides all day long. Hands free is a must. There is nowhere to leave your bags safely on rides.

You can take your jackets, bags and layers off when getting character pics. Plenty of time to do so, we all did.

Have an amazing time. Take scarves and a brolly as you will be there from 10am until 9pm. We had gloves on in October, it was freezing.

I was there last week and it was freezing, way colder than central Paris.
You need comfy shoes and lots of layers.
So a t-shirt, merino jumper, light waterproof plus extra layers for of its cold, like a fleece or bigger coat.
I had four layers on and a lightweight waterproof but was cold and soaked. All I could think about was having extra layers.
