I bought something from Fat Face. Is this the end?

Picked a random jumper up in John Lewis and liked it. Looked at the label - 100% cotton. Liked it even more. Looked at the price - reasonable. Liked it even more. tried it on. Liked it. Dp liked it. Then I saw the label. I bought it anyway.

Am I doomed?

I'm wearing White Stuff, H&M and Whistles H&M today. I'm 102.

I think £35 is pretty reasonable for pure cotton.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2016 18:20

I agree, Flo, which is why I bought it. So hard to find cotton nowadays.

If you find yourself in Bon Marché, that my dears, is the end.

MinnieF1 · 04/04/2016 18:32

What's wrong with The White Stuff, Joules and Fat Face? I love all three. I'm only 21 Blush

MadisonMontgomery · 04/04/2016 18:35

Nowt wrong with Joules, Boden etc - at least the clothes make it through the washing machine a few times.

SpaceKablooie · 04/04/2016 18:36

I bloody love Fat Face and (some) White Stuff. They often have cotton or linen clothes. I went to Next recently - the manmade fibres Shock!

SpaceKablooie · 04/04/2016 18:37

I wish you could search websites to only show you cotton clothes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2016 18:38

Just looked at the Joules site. It's very pink and blue.

I only like one thing on the while site, I think. cardigan

I wear Joules, Boden and Fat Face. I'm 30. I don't even slightly care.

SueTrinder · 04/04/2016 18:42

I'm sitting here quite proud in my Boden cashmere jumper, t-shirt from Next and jeans from TK Maxx (think that last one is acceptable still on Mumsnet). Boden, Joules, White Stuff and Fat Face is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Try going shopping with my mother, hours looking at fucking expensive jumpers made from synthetic fabrics in Country Casuals. That's when you need to get worried.

BrendasGotABaby · 04/04/2016 18:44

I pick up what I like and sod the label.

However, I did go through an insane period after having my second DC of wearing a lot of Fat face and White Stuff. When I look back at pics of myself then, i was ageing myself massively by going for that style. I was only early thirties, but looked older than i do now at nearly 40.

Having said that, I love a bit of Boden for my work clothes, so what do I know? Grin

littlejeopardy · 04/04/2016 18:45

Im 28 and just rediscovered Fat Face. I thought it sold surfer dude style clothes for some reason and was surprised it was much more English country! I bought a top in the sale and then got a jumper from White Stuff next door. I m also hankering after a Ness dress. Are Ness in the same category? It's a new name for me. X

Tambaboy · 04/04/2016 18:47

I have a couple of Fat Face jumpers, and loads of White Stuff skirts and tops and I love them.Genuine question, what's wrong with these labels? I'm not British so maybe that's why I don't get what the issue is...

Radyward · 04/04/2016 19:00

I absolutely love fatface. There is 3 yes 3 stores in the whole of southern ireland. I am literally craving going to the fatface outlet in Co. Down but can't face going up on my own with three year old ds.
Have a bit of white stuff. But think the quality of the knitwear is atrocious ! Any one else think this ?
Was in Edinburgh in October and went mad in FF. The clothes last well ( I am 42 😐😃)
I like mantaray in debenhams but usually wait until it's 20 percent off
Was in NESS up there too. Had a ness top ages ago got it in a sale but quality was really poor but hey their flash saled are great online

EnglishFern · 04/04/2016 19:01

There isn't an issue. There is just a perception that "mummies" of a certain income bracket shop there. Those who don't want to be classed as a "mummy" of a certain income bracket like to slag it off.

I'm not sure where those people DO shop though. I think they find their clothes in skips. I think they also call clothes "pieces".

Radyward · 04/04/2016 19:02

Oh also ds has some fatface pyjamas and they are such good quality . It's pricey in FF but you get the wear out of them I think

GoldPlatedBacon · 04/04/2016 19:04

I had a look in Fat Face today and really liked the range. Should I be ashamed then?

EnglishFern · 04/04/2016 19:05

No! Why would you?

Tambaboy · 04/04/2016 19:08

Thank you EnglishFern, I'm afraid I wasn't aware of those connotations, not that it matters anyway! I'm too old to care what other people think! Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2016 19:08

I've looked at the website and must admit that, other than the PJs, there is virtually nothing else I like apart from that one jumper. It's all very blue, and I don't like blue much except denim. A shame, as it has natural fabrics at fairly reasonable prices, and hardly anywhere else does now.

OP posts:
EnglishFern · 04/04/2016 19:10

OP why not just shop somewhere which sells clothes you like?

Is that too complicated?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2016 19:12

Have I not said that I bought the jumper because I liked it? Too complicated?

OP posts:
Lookdownthesofa · 04/04/2016 19:12

I think I might have the same jumper (Pembroke Pointelle?). But I knew what I was buying from the off as I was actually in a Fat Face shop.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2016 19:18

That's the one, Sofa. It's v pretty and I am a bit of a sucker for grey knitwear. Grin
