Stylish and Beautiful bed linen? Any recommendations?

V fed up and decided new bed linen in today's answer! I'd love something a bit different and well made. Fed up with semi synthetic thin and nasty stuff (glares at M and S) . The White Company just seem a rip off. TK Maxx gives me the rage as a shopping experience, although it is probably the best bet round here. I'd pay a bit more for any smaller UK brands.

Does anyone have any recommendations for bed linen that good quality, good value for money and a little bit different?

Cotton and cologne (sorry, no link) for beauty and quality. For price ... You'll be best waiting for the sale.

I would say that it's hard to beat TK maxx for all three of your criteria. But if you want immediate satisfaction for loveliness and quality without the rummaging and waiting (hallmarks of the TK maxx experience) cologne and cotton is amazing.

TK Maxx online is the answer if you can't cope with the stores...

100% cotton. Origin is debatable.
TKMaxx is ok but it depends. I prefer a percale weave and they mostly have sateen, which is fine but doesn't wear so well ime, and I don't like it much. (Percale has a cooler crisper feel, sateen is slightly warmer and fuzzier) So be careful what you buy in TKMaxx. You can be lucky there tho.

Bed linen can be tricky to buy. I've read articles re thread count dodginess, so the info on the packet might say 400 thread but for whatever reason, when measured by a standardised method, the thread count is often lower.
Easy iron options often have some sort of a coating to make the smooth, defeats the purpose of 100% cotton if you ask me.
You could buy linen sheets. I've only had one (good) set and I hated them with a passion. But many like them.
Brands? I dunno. I think my best sheets are ones my mother gave me, about 40 years old. As white as ever and really heavy cotton. (A bitch to iron). Piu Belle are nice, department stores carry them. designers guild usually good. You have to go by the feel of the sheet.
Only buy in sales if possible.

I do realise I sound like an obsessive nutjob. I don't know much about it really, but I bloody love good bed linen . One of life's luxuries.

Northern Nights if you have the cash
If you have even more cash, I'd get bamboo sheets...don't know any brands but saw it in a shop in the US, beyond gorgeous feel.

I would second Designers Guild. Their linen is beautiful and washes really well. I only buy in the sales mind you! If you sign up for their newsletter you get discount codes for an extra 15/20% off too. They do sometimes have it TKMaxx, but it's hit and miss as to whether you can get matching pillowcases etc. Also try these www.bedeckhome.com They often have good sales. If you prefer a more contemporary design Scion is nice, and Orla Kiely is lovely quality.

As others have said, what you want to look for is a high thread count (anything above 600 tends to be lovely) and 100% Egyptian cotton.

The Kelly Hoppen range that she sells on QVC sometimes has some very classic and beautiful designs. Or you could try Achica for discounted ranges.

I know you've ruled out The White Company but I got a set of theirs in the sale and it is genuinely the most amazing feeling linen!

I picked up some grey 100% linen sets from H and M online , I love them really soft .

Soak and sleep do great quality linen and v good prices.

I disagree about going by thread count alone. Our 800 tc were difficult to handle, one double sheet was one washing load and they shrunk terribly when tumble dried but took an age to air dry. I think there's a happy balance when it comes to weight

Sheridan Egyptian cotton is just lovely. Anything we've had from The White Company tends to come out of the tumble dryer really creased.

Thirding Soak and Sleep here. Splashed out on their French linen sheets recently and they're lush - makes me actually want to change the bed which I never do normally!!

My favourite sheets recently have come from a stall in the local market. One turned out to be Ralph Lauren under the bland packaging. I've bought international hotel quality sheets from her, in plain white, and they are lovely. Or the White Company, or Soak and Sleep, but usually TK Maxx if I need colour/pattern.

Oh yes the thread count does not necessarily mean the same quality, or feel. I have 2 sets of 1000TC, one is absolutely lovely. The other one is so stiff it feels almost like paper. Impossible to iron as well.

Hmm, the thread count is a mine field... I think I need a day out groping bed linen!! Thanks for such informative responses. I shall commit to something gorgeous soon and Soak and Sleep also looks promising. This could be addictive....

I really like Toast - and if you want something cheaper La Redoute do very reasonable washed linen in lovely colours

Christy bed linen is gorgeous and feels so lovely to sleep in. Dorma is another good one for traditional designs

Bamboo. It's lovely to sleep in. I got mine from 100% bamboo.

Toast. I still like White Company but their quality has declined I think.

I also love H&M linen bed sets they are gorgeous, 100& linen very classy.
