Ffs!!! Fed up with foundation!!!!

Can anyone recommend a foundation for dry/dehydrated skin which gives a nice light coverage and doesn't emphasise dryness BUT also doesn't go bloody greasy and make me look like I've dipped my face in oil!!!
Also needs to be fragrance free!!!

Have you tried MAC Face and Body? It's super light coverage but buildable and doesn't cling to dry patches

Yes I have tried that and unfortunately I hated it :( it sounded perfect for me and good colour match but I found it covered nothing even after layering and I looked like an oil slick :(

Ysl and bourjois both perfumed I definitely need fragrance free

My mate's an Arbonne rep and I get the cc cream off her. It's fab. I used to use a Clarins one before but this is loads better.

You could try Illamasqua Hydra Veil as a primer underneath to resolve the dryness issue. Mac Face & Body is buildable - you can apply 3 or 4 layers of it without it looking cakey. If you want more coverage than that, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light lasts well without going oily and has a good amount of 'slip' on application. Or Face Atelier Ultra Foundation is amazing, but you'd have to guess your shade as I don't think anywhere stocks it other than online.

What's your skincare routine like?

I find if I slip up and don't take care of my skin foundation looks awful and doesn't stay put.

What about a BB or CC cream or tinted moisturiser rather than foundation?

Face Atelier. Superb coverage and doesn't go flaky but don't put too much on. A couple of drops is enough.

Are you moisturising and then applying primer before your foundation? This makes all the difference for me

Are you gently exfoliating your skin? I love my Liz Earle cream cleanser and muslin cloth and then I use Nivea lotion and a Clinique super balanced foundation. It works for me - maybe it could work for you too. Skincare is such a frustrating journey, I know!

Sort out your skin with a hyaluronic serum first.

The reason your foundation goes patchy isn't the fault of the foundation - it's your dehydrated skin drinking up the moisture in it.

Trust me it isn't my skin it's the foundations! I'm currently looking for a good primer but I can't use a heavy silicone based one as it breaks me out! My skin routine is fine, I can't use lots of products my skin is very reactive so cannot change what I use.
The best foundation I tried has been discontinued grrrrr so I know it's not my skin it's all these rubbish foundations.

I've tried many many foundations recently, expensive and cheap, and the very best I've found is Collection Lasting Perfection foundation. here
It's a ridiculous £3.99 at Boots at the moment! I know it sounds rather improbable that something that costs the same as a large latte is good but it really is. Prior to buying this I was using Estée Lauder Diuble Wear & had tried Mac, Clinique, YSL, Bare Minerals, loads of them. The Collection is better than all of them IMO
Another good one is Bourjois City Radiance. That has a nice dewy finish & looks very good on.

would a mineral powder work? I like (although I know many don't) bare minerals and if you exfoliate and moisturise properly beforehand, it shouldn't emphasise dryness.

What are you using to apply the Face Atelier? You've just reminded me that I bought some ages ago and was a bit intimidated by how pigmented it was

I have a similar problem to you, I think there has been a move to long-lasting foundations which look good on camera, but in reality these don't look good close up and highlight flakes, pores etc. The best I have found is Clinique Even Better Skin Foundation. It's medium coverage, buildable and gives that real skin texture look, not dry, not too dewy, fragrance free.

Be careful with primers, many claim to be hydrating but contain lots of alcohol which is drying and damages skin. The Illamasqua one is a prime example of this.

Have you tried Mars op? The weightless one really works for me and I think it is perfume free.
