What do you think about these sandals?

Been obsessing about these since I first saw them in the catalogue:

www.plumo.com/products/Lina-sandals.html

I need new sandals, and have a white canvas bag I could wear them with in the summer. I mostly wear dresses/skirts in the summer, and trousers and jeans when it's colder and for work (we have a pretty laid back work outfits rules, pretty much anything goes; apart from tracksuits I guess).

But are they really worth all this money - what do you think wise Mumsnetters?

exasperated I love those Dune ones. I'm going to buy the tan ones.

CreviceImp · 16/03/2016 18:39

these are lovely. I can't wait for some sun in order to crack them out. They look even nicer in reality and are very comfortable.

zipzap · 16/03/2016 18:48

I got some of these Teva sandals last year, having seen lots of people recommending them on MN for being really comfortable - they were right, they were so nice to wear...

I also have had excellent fairly flat sandals from Clarks, Ecco, Merrell and Josef Siebel. I need to wear flat shoes after breaking my foot years ago and discovering that it now hurts to wear even medium height heels. But also some of the ones on here are too flat for me - I think it can be bad for your foot when they are really really flat!

I bought these in blue a couple of weeks ago and love them. Quite saltwateresque but cheaper!

Also, I agree with everyone else about the model. Looks like she's a fashion model (big feet) who wore the shoes for a clothes shoot and they just cropped the image to her feet. I'm sure the rest of her is lovely!

HoggleHoggle · 16/03/2016 19:31

dorothea they are lovely...how's the sizing? I have narrow rabbit feet so sandals are often too wide on me which is massively frustrating.

Chinesealan · 16/03/2016 19:35

OP. If you look like a kookie skinny actress or media type then they'll look ultra cool. I imagine our clothes style is generally like this as you like them and you'll therefore pull the look off.
I wouldn't wear them as I'm ordinary and stout of ankle and the cool ironic look would be lost.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 16/03/2016 20:04

hoggle thanks! They're not as wide as the saltwater ones. Worth a go.

Obs2016 · 16/03/2016 20:10

£140? They are ghastly. As are the models feet.

CakeNinja · 16/03/2016 20:46

This thread has confirmed to me that I will never own a pair of sandals ever!

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 16/03/2016 20:47

I really like those Mama, I think they could look super stylish with the right outfits and every single pair that has been linked to are much less appealing, with some downright grim (though the blue office ones weren't bad).

Mind you, I love a pair of fugly sandals, these and these are my faves.

FankEweVeryMuch · 16/03/2016 21:06

I like both Blush

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 17/03/2016 09:02

YYY Hound I LOVE both these APC sandals and the flat pair would be perfect for what I need, but they are a little bit too £££.

Are they fugly though (I think they are gorgeous)? Maybe I should start thinking about the frump factor now that I'm closer to 40 than 30. I just never paid attention in the past, I just wore what I liked...

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:18

I like them OP, I have a similar pair from Carvela with a buckle (aka Jesus style) instead of a crossover and they are the comfiest shoes ever!

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:19

But why would you pay for a model with such minging feet if you want to sell a sandal? It's beyond me!

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:21

It's a shame they don't come in different colours.

And wait for the sale if they have them, they are expensive, but they look good quality.

SansaClegane · 17/03/2016 09:22

Have you ever looked at moshulu? They have some nice ones and they are honestly the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn.
I have these https://www.moshulu.co.uk/ladies/sandals/sevillebrightt_fuchsia.htm

(Please don't tell me they are super frumpy, please!)

Bunbaker · 17/03/2016 09:24

Wow, there are some pretty hideous and uncomfortable looking sandals on this thread. I do like some of the Clarks one though, and am a fan of Rieker footwear.

I have some Rieker work shoes and a pair of Rieker boots. Their soles are a little more shaped and are much more comfortable for all day wear than something that is completely flat.

I bought these Earth Spirit sandals three years ago and they are amazingly comfortable and practical enough for walking around in all day, yet pretty enough to wear with more dressy clothes. They are much sturdier than they look and I will wear them until they fall apart.

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:27

Sorry, but all of the links above are far more "grannified" than the OP's choice. The ones the OP likes are more retro than granny.

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:28

www.plumo.com/products/Savina-sandals.html These are nice too OP!

Bunbaker · 17/03/2016 09:29

My links? I don't think they look grannyish at all. The style that the OP likes is what my 85 year old auntie would wear.

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 17/03/2016 09:33

fresta yoox have them in raspberry but I don't think I could make them work for all my clothes

www.yoox.com/uk/44779529HP/item#dept=women&sts=sr_women80&cod10=44779529HP&sizeId=13

Agree about the model's feet, they used these sandals for styling a lot of things in their catalogue, so this was a closeup shot on the same model who wore most of the clothes in the season's catalogue and clearly feet are not her strength... I kind of don't mind it too much, it makes it all more "real" IYSWIM

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:33

Yes Bunbaker, my mum wears those Reiker ones and she's in her 70s! Some Reiker ones can be OK, but you have to pick and choose.

fresta · 17/03/2016 09:37

Mama, they will probably look nicer on normal feet, that model has very long thin feet and I don't think they fit her foot shape very well.

Chinesealan · 17/03/2016 09:45

I agree Fresh. OP has posted a pic of deliberately styled retro sandals and people are responding by saying they're frumpy then suggesting actual frumpery as an alternative.
