What do you think about these sandals?

Been obsessing about these since I first saw them in the catalogue:

www.plumo.com/products/Lina-sandals.html

I need new sandals, and have a white canvas bag I could wear them with in the summer. I mostly wear dresses/skirts in the summer, and trousers and jeans when it's colder and for work (we have a pretty laid back work outfits rules, pretty much anything goes; apart from tracksuits I guess).

But are they really worth all this money - what do you think wise Mumsnetters?

I think they look like the worst of Clarks (and I'm not a Clarks fan).
Think white sandals rarely look good. Make feet look bigger and easily become scruffy and generally look naff IMO.
I have Saltwater sandals and some nice Geox pairs from earlier seasons. Very comfortable.

polyhymnia · 16/03/2016 12:35

Those in the OP also look a bit Hotter which in my book is as bad as it gets. Or M and S.

newdocket · 16/03/2016 12:43

I am a huge fan of the granny sandal. So I quite like these but think they are a bit spendy, I reckon you could get something as nice/nicer for half the price. And concur, the model's toenails are a bit grim!

polyhymnia · 16/03/2016 12:46

Sorry, finally can I just protest (again) at 'granny' being used as lazy shorthand for frumpy or unstylish. Becoming a granny does not remove your sense of style and there are stylish and unstylish women of all ages. And comfortable doesn't automatically equate to frumpy.

VelvetCushion · 16/03/2016 12:55

Absolutely awful. Frumpy and boring. Nooooooo

AlmaMartyr · 16/03/2016 13:10

They are a bit grim, and not worth £139.

SaliShoes · 16/03/2016 13:33

If you want flat sandals, have a look at Dune, Jigsaw, Geox or similar, and at least they will have a bit of style. The ones you have linked to are the equivalent of Clarks Playdeck - a style that were 'in' in the early 70s and now Clarks do them as a retro style.

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 16/03/2016 13:43

Thanks SaliShoes good tips there.

BunnyTyler I think those are far more hideous now, but would have worn them 15 years ago.

Madbengalmum · 16/03/2016 13:57

They look like the clarks ones i used to be made to weAr when i was about five!

BunnyTyler · 16/03/2016 14:36

They're all coming back now Primal Grin

I am in raptures as I love that style.

FashionLover1 · 16/03/2016 15:54

They are not bad, it's just a matter how you will style them.

Ella2016xxxc · 16/03/2016 16:23

Ella2016xxxc · 16/03/2016 16:24

Ignore that ..was meant for another thread.
Silly woman ha ha

ginorwine · 16/03/2016 16:40

I love them
Think they are cool !!!

Doobigetta · 16/03/2016 16:49

How about these? A million times cooler and a fraction of the price

MamaAwayOnBusiness · 16/03/2016 17:13

ginorwine ah if you only came in earlier. I have lost the will for them (and confidence to chose another pair).

Doobigetta I think these are alright, but I need flat sandals. Have some lovely block heel sandals for days when I want to be a bit taller, I just need some flats for everyday running around... I will have a look at other New Look offering though, I did find some great leather sandals there in the past...

I quite like the look of some boot-type sandals, but I'll spend good par of the summer in hot places so need something strappy rather than sheets of leather if that makes sense...

What about these and they come in various colours

www.dunelondon.com/mobile/lotti-leather-cross-over-strap-flat-sandal-0079506840008515/

I had them last year in rose gold and they were comfy.

thatsn0tmyname · 16/03/2016 17:19

I like a big chunky sandal but they're overpriced for what they are.

HoggleHoggle · 16/03/2016 17:21

I'd been thinking of getting something similar-ish, though I don't like those particular ones...

I'm keen on these Clarks ones, not sure if they're the type of thing you had in mind?

This is how I wish more flat sandals would be ; a footbed & sole that isn't rock hard or slidey!

I'd struggle to pay that for a pair of boots so certainly wouldn't pay that for a few thin strips of leather.

thisismypassword · 16/03/2016 17:29

I remember my dowdy music teacher wore something like this in the 90s

member · 16/03/2016 17:54

Office have a similarish idea (sole - wise) at half price £20.

Doobigetta I had a lovely pair of sandals like that. First night I wore them I chipped a huge chunk of wood out of the front. Then, walking home, I realised that clumping around on two bits of wood was a bad idea. Every. single. pace. jarred. up. my. spine.

Doobigetta · 16/03/2016 18:26

Not ideal, PrimalLass. I have to admit that I have two pairs of chunky wooden platform sandals that I love but don't actually wear that often because my wedge espadrilles are just easier.
