I'm turning 30, where should I start shopping?

Kind of lighthearted! I used to shop at Topshop, H&M etc but feel Topshop is a bit young for me personally now.

I now have 2 young children and haven't been shopping in a while living in leggings and long baggy tops (breastfeeding).

For my 30th I'm going to get a new wardrobe. Where shall I start and what essentials do I need?

I like Mint Velvet, Whistles, Jigsaw for good one-off pieces.

I will be 30 in June and still shop at Hollister, H&M and River Island, etc. I just pick stuff that flatters my shape and no crop tops, haha! You are still so young, wait until you are 50 to start shopping in Next or Dorothy Perkins ;) (I apologise to those who do, haha!).

Plus, long baggy tops aren't needed for breastfeeding! I've just finished feeding my 18 month old...I wore a tight long vest (those cheap ones from h&m) under practically any top. Pair them with a nice pair of skinny jeans and I could still get away with looking 25, even with my 4 year old and 18 month old in tow, hehe x

Mid forties and still shop in all those places (TopShop, New Look, H&M, etc.) Still feel I am too young for White Stuff, Fat Face (although there are some exceptions). God knows if I'll ever feel old enough for M&S!

I am 60 tis year and still shop at Topshop. I have just bought a floral shirt which even my mother (90) would look respectable in and some black denim dungarees. My mother thinks M&S is too frumpy for her, so won't be going there. I don't usually like White Stuff as I don't want to look like a droopy social worker but this season they have a few things that I do like, so I will be getting one dress and a cardigan.

Next - too much synthetic stuff.

The shops you list as being ones you like are where old ladies like me shop.

I am! Grin I feel old, been through lots.

Topshop seems full of crop tops and ripped jeans. I will always love H&M.

Is mint velvet and whistles/jigsaw too old for me then?

I'm in my 40s and shop in whichever shop sells what I'm after at that moment. Just buy what suits you rather than what's fashionable.

I went off Topshop a while ago, partly I wasn't keen on what was in there and secondly the quality seemed to get really bad (yet the prices kept rising!)

Whistles and Jigsaw are lovely - go and treat yourself!

I think you're a bit old for Per Una. Do you have a decent garden centre or Edinburgh Woollen Mill nearby? You could get a lovely fleece or two, and a floral scarf to add that unique personal touch.
Also keep an eye out in printed TV guides for the adverts - I find they're good for getting hold of wire-free bras and nice supportive pants.

I am also turning 30, I shop at Dorothy Perkins, Jane Norman and ASOS. I still like new look and top shop stuff too though.

I'm 30 and I shop in Gap, Esprit and sometimes Monsoon (depending on the styles, as some are a bit old and frumpy for my liking!) Occasionally I also shop in Dorothy Perkins as well as Debenhams and House of Fraser for the range of concessions.

It is difficult though, I'm curvy and I feel a bit stuck between "younger" shops, which seem to only sell clothes that suit skinny people, and "older" shops which are a bit boring and unfashionable.

Amber send off for the Marisota catalogue and be done with that ripped jeans nonsense. And buy a few thermal vests while you're at it. You can never overestimate the importance of keeping your kidneys warm.
