Ok so I have a list of foundations from which I want to buy one product to use in the daytime ranging from high end and high street.

Top of my high end list is Chanel, mid range Mac and top of my high street list is bourjois, no 7 ; possibly loreal? Or maybelline? These are just options to start testing with.

I would like something with medium to highish coverage that doesn't sit in any dry patches, dry my skin out or cause breakouts. Not so bothered about perfect colour match, or all day staying power ( as I think this will cause breakouts by being too sticky)

I just need a guide really of tried and tested foundations you love.

I am currently using clarins, bourjois CC, Lancôme Teint miracle all of which are running out and are either to thick, to claggy too drying or just don't cover enough. Although I'm happy for now with clarins for nights out.

All advice gratefully received.

Vichy dermablend.
Ive used everything from Dior, Estée Lauder, Clinique, well actually every counter in my local department stores ! As well as spending a fortune in boots on foundations like loreal and max factor. But Vichy is the only foundation ive ever stuck to, I love it !
Never breaks me out, I just put some nivea soft then the Vichy foundation and it lasts all day.
I buy mine in boots.

Also any suggestions for a creamy concealer with staying power that doesn't dry out skin, cause breakouts or dryness.

whosthemummy thank you I would never have thought of Vichy but makes total sense from a skin care angle which is what I'm after.

I have two firm favourites:

•MAC Studio Fix Fluid.
•Max Factor Face Infinity 3 in 1 Foundation.

L'oreal Infallible 24h Matte foundation is slowing making its way into the favourites after a week of trying it out!

I prefer medium/high coverage with a matte finish!

tigerdog · 19/02/2016 13:11

Armani Luminous Silk. Best foundation texture and application I've ever had, but I am too pale for my usual colour these days, so have been trying others.

I am using YSL fusion at the moment, it has nice texture and matt but not drying. Tried a sample of the new Chanel Les Beiges the other week - lovely and I wish I had bought that instead.

Watching with interest for other recommendations. Can't find a high street foundation that doesn't slide off my face after a busy day.

Lottapianos · 19/02/2016 13:17

I love Rimmel foundations. Match Perfection or Wake Me Up for medium coverage, Lasting Finish for fuller coverage. They would tick all of your boxes. I read a review of Match Perfection where the make-up artist said it was exactly as good as YSL Touche Eclat.

hollinhurst84 · 19/02/2016 13:31

Concealer - I like urban decay naked skin one or Kevyn aucoin sensual skin enhancer. The second one you need a pinprick amount, it is v v pigmented. I dip a damp beauty blender in a teeny amount then use that to conceal

Foundation - ones I've used and liked are mac waterweight, revlon color stay, urban decay naked skin (repurchased this X 3!), illamasqua

PollyPerky · 19/02/2016 13:37

I think a lot depends on what colour your skin is. I'm limited because I'm really pale. The only range I've found where the colour is spot-on is Bobbi Brown Porcelain. But I don't rate any of the foundations - too watery, too shiny, don't last. The only one worth looking at is the stick foundation but if your skin is oily you might like her Long Wear.

Currently I am using Dior Star which is lovely though still half a shade too dark in 101.

NARS is worth a look at.

Clinique Even Better has a nice texture but no shades pale enough for me.

Clarins foundations are nice- I used the uplifting one (not that it does!) which has a medium-full coverage.

PollyPerky · 19/02/2016 13:38

Concealer- Bobbi Brown creamy concealer with a tiny bit of powder over if you need it.

notamummy10 · 19/02/2016 14:25

Concealer wise - MAC Studio Finish or Rimmel London Lasting Finish :)

Missionitreat · 19/02/2016 15:22

Ok so after trying many many foundations today I plumped for one that wasn't even on my list. No 7 Stay perfect foundation in warm Ivory. It seemed to tick all the boxes today. I have never tried their foundations before and I was colour matched and after trying it out on a cleansed area of my skin it went on really smoothly, was the perfect colour and seemed to look fine on my skin. Time will tell.
Most of the other high street options were quite chalky in comparison although they appeared fine to start with till I tried the no 7 which in comparison is a really lovely texture.
I decided to just look at high street options today so avoided Chanel, Mac, Lancôme, bare minerals etc etc which I will do when I've got more time to meander in all the relevant shops and counters incl space nk.
I wanted an everyday cheaper high street foundation for everyday coverage for short trips ie popping to shops, school run and a high end product for work and evenings out.

Meanwhile I will be sorting my skin out with liquid gold once that arrives so I have good skin to apply my make up on to and hopefully by the summer I may be foundation free on some days as I will be redness, blotch free and wonderfully smooth. Here's hoping Smile

Op for a concealer, try Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I am very fair and use shade Vanilla. It is a fantastic product!

Missionitreat · 19/02/2016 15:54

Thanks gonegrey I couldn't find a concealer I liked at all today. The maybelline one with a sponge seems to apply nicely but after wandering around for a bit it settled into the creases of my eyes.

Under eye concealing is a new thing for me as I've never had to do it before, I did have a touché eclat which was lovely but I had no need for it and I think there are many similar now on the market which may be better such as the nars or Clinique. I shall investigate.

Tbh honest every time I use an eye gel or cream my eyes look worse, more crepey than if I just left them alone. I think for me I just need to drink more water when go like that.

Bizarrely even though this foundation matches my skin perfectly, went on nicely and stayed on I kind of miss the ever so slight orange warmth you do get, that you think you don't want with my other foundations. I missed my clarins tonight.

I'm very pale too, with cool/neutral undertones, so most ranges don't do my natural shade. I have dry skin, and I want my base to look good for about 12 hours. My favorites are Korean BB creams, I alternate between Missha #13 and #21 and Dr Jart Premium. I have had a Korean cushion compact too, it was fab, and might purchase another as soon as I have used up the products I have. I also like the two palest shades of Lily Lolo mineral foundation and the Nars concealer in Vanilla. I used to like Revlon Colorstay, but the last time I tried it, I got major acne. I have a couple of Pale Bourjois foundations, they pull yellow/orange and are a bit too heavily perfumed for my taste.

Glamorousglitter · 21/02/2016 08:42

I too am looking for a cheaper everyday option (on unpaid maternity leave )
I m currently loving rimmel with the blue lid - gives a nice even coverage not too orange (i m quiet pale this time of year, possibly worse from lack of sleep )
At the moment with lack of sleep hormonal changes winter time weather and general busy ness and not really adhering to proper skin care routine my skin is not in as good aondotion as I do like but even so this is covering I bquite well without looking like a heavy mask

I usually love nars but am finding my usual is not suiting my skin at the moment

However love nars concealer (though don't wear it much) and nars blush / bronzer

Armani foundation rocks too

MsAlbertine · 21/02/2016 13:29

Was a Clinique girl but just switched to Dior Star and early days but like coverage and colour match.

No success with budget brands but haven't tried the Bourjouis (? spelling) yet.

Rainbowglow · 21/02/2016 13:32

There is a lady on instagram called mixedgemsbeauty who has a blog and has done a different foundation review every day in February. Some are £££ but there are cheaper. Have a look I found the reviews quite helpful.

CwtchyQ · 21/02/2016 14:02

For me, it's always been Estee Lauder Doublewear. I've strayed from it (No7 stay perfect I think) and now I've gone back to EL, I appreciate it even more. It's fantastic.

CwtchyQ · 21/02/2016 14:03

(And a little goes a LONG way)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 21/02/2016 14:13

I don't use foundation anymore after discovering BB cream. It's a much lighter feel than foundation and gives just as much covering along with a healthy glow.
plus its only £1.99. Fantastic for tight arses such as yours truly Grin

Cakescakescakes · 21/02/2016 16:38

I have Chanel perfection lumiere velvet. Lovely finish but I'd say only light to med coverage and it doesn't have great staying power. If you have pretty good skin to start with it is great though. Needs a primer for sure.

passmethewineplease · 21/02/2016 17:12

I have tried Clinique but found their albester range was too orange for me, I have no7 stay perfect but I didn't rate it's coverage tbh.

Estée Lauder was too heavy/orangey.

I'm now on revlon colorstay for normal/dry skin and I'm liking it so far. It's medium to full coverage and you can build it without being too cakey. Their shade ivory is very pale too.

For concealer I've heard great things about collverion lasting wear, I purchased some the other day and I'm impressed! It's creamy, good coverage and only £4.19!

passmethewineplease · 21/02/2016 17:13

Collection not collverion. Confused
