Need help re wedding dress...

Hi all,

I'm getting married in April. Registry office and lunch with immediate family. I would like a nice dress (not a wedding dress) to wear but not sure where to start.

I am 5'5, size 14, big boobs (36G), slim-ish legs.

If anyone knows if some good websites or has any recommendations for me that would be fantastic :)

My style is... I don't know really. A little bit eclectic. Price - anything up to 200/300?!

Thanks 👰🏻😊

Should maybe add, high necked dresses don't really suit me because of my big boobs...

And I am not a fan of maxi dresses...

Do you want traditional wedding dress colours?

Cric · 07/02/2016 08:15

How exciting!

MuttonCadet · 07/02/2016 08:26

What colours do you love?

Do you like your arms? (Are you happy to be sleeveless or capped sleeves).

Do you like plain and simple or more comfortable with lace / gathering?

Very exciting! Thanks

patienceisvirtuous · 07/02/2016 08:27

Hi Cric :)

No, not traditional colours. Am open to anything really... I have dark hair and eyebrows if that helps 😄

I'd rather not be sleeveless but could wear bolero or cape I guess?!

I like most colours - not yellow/mustard. Not pink...

I really like dark reds/purples/browns...

Also open to style but generally do like a bit of detail :)

Love this LK Bennett dress.

Am I anywhere close on these?

fastdaytears · 07/02/2016 08:49

How very exciting. Congratulations.

How old are you (can I ask that or is a S&B etiquette fail?) and do you have a dress you currently own and feel amazing in that we can take inspiration from?

patienceisvirtuous · 07/02/2016 08:53

Thanks Mutton! Like them all aside from the floral - also don't think I am slim enough to carry that style off.

LOVE that Taffeta one but I think the neckline would be too high.

The other two are really nice - if only they had size 14s in stock 😟

If you have big boobs and are not too tall I find fifties style or prom style flattering.

I am tall and they look awful on me but would work on your height.

Choughed · 07/02/2016 08:56

Oooh Lady I love that second dress you linked to!

LadyPriggsbottom · 07/02/2016 08:58

Oh I love that one too OP! Quite different really - glad you like it too.

LadyPriggsbottom · 07/02/2016 08:59

Oh pants there was a third - have linked the second one twice there! One sec will find it.

patienceisvirtuous · 07/02/2016 09:01

Thanks fastday :) I am 38 (but am a young-ish looking 38 if that's not too immodest :) )

I'm not overly happy with my body at the moment - 3 miscarriages in the last 18 months has wreaked havoc with my weight. So flattering style is probably priority over cost/colour...

I have this which I love (but perhaps isn't dressy enough) ladyvlondon.com/Oxblood-Long-Sleeved-Lyra-Dress/#.VrcHTGaQHCQ

Oo a lot of these are on the money!

Lady - love all three of those! And fast, that coast dress is lovely. I guess I'd need to order and see what suits me best.

I am on a diet/fitness drive to try and tone up so that I feel nicer for the day :)

I'm very sorry to hear about your losses OP. Flowers

That dress you have is really nice and I think you can set your own level of dressiness for your wedding really, but I would probably go for something a bit fancier if it was me.

fastdaytears · 07/02/2016 09:14

Ooh love that dress! I have big boobs too (no slim legs though!) and I'd wear that all the time. I think you should be able to channel that look into a dressier version.

I love the Jenny Packham stuff at Debenhams for big boobs small waist effect but the range they have at the moment is rubbish.

Sorry to hear about the losses. Sounds to me like you're going to be a super hot bride. Flowers
