Well Gap seems to think! I bought some skinny jeans from Gap Outlet earlier (Bargain!) and easily fitted the uk size 4 (25s) if they had a 24 in stock I'm convinced I would of squeezed into them too!

Of course in truth I'm 5ft 9 and a size 8 but hey my ego got a boost! Grin Tho should I really be aspiring to a ridiculous size for my frame- probably not Hmm

5'9" and "longer in the torso". Those are like magic words that I will never say!Envy(5'1" and short torso!).

Humble314 · 26/01/2016 15:20

Im five foot two and size 8 and i dont think i should go down a size. Occassionally due to vanity sizing i roll my eyes, but at your height id be worried if you were my friend. Are you sure you are size 8?
Vanity sizing is rife but careful that it is definitely vanity sizing at play here.

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 26/01/2016 15:23

I think it's a ploy to get people to buy from their stores. I can be anything from a size 8 (uk) to a size 14 Confused

BreconBeBuggered · 26/01/2016 15:24

Me too, OP.

Granted, it's in a shoe, but hey.

Yseulte · 26/01/2016 15:44

And this is why vanity sizing sells.

LittleLionHeart · 26/01/2016 15:46

I am a UK 6 and I can't fit in to anything at gap Sad

BrianButterfield · 26/01/2016 15:53

It is vanity sizing - I had some size 4 trousers I could take off without undoing the zip Hmm. I am an 8/10 normally.

I got a XS blazer in Zara yesterday alongside a L jumper... go figure!

JakeBallardswife · 26/01/2016 16:03

I'm a size 20 ish ( depending on the shop) I'm going to gap too.

I can get the lightheartedness which is evident all the way through! I'm in no danger of slipping through a drain as someone said earlier, I'd get stuck.Grin

wol1968 · 26/01/2016 16:04

Someone mentioned M&S, well I can't get my head round them at all. I have a skirt from them in a 14 that fits perfectly, some jeans that are a 12 and are loose and a donated jacket that is a 16 and nowhere near as loose as it should be at that size. Confused Grin

Mistigri · 26/01/2016 16:10

Gap sizing is just silly. I'm also an 8 and I'd always start by trying a Gap size 2 and sometimes have to go down to a zero. I'm 5'3" and not even especially slim, I have quite a muscular build.

I also wonder what really petite people do - shop elsewhere I guess. My petite teenage daughter buys some of the spanish brands which come up small.

breezeharbour · 26/01/2016 16:15

I go from a 14 to an 18 depending on where I shop. I was a size 12-14 before I got pregnant mourning my pre-baby figure where I didn't have a stomach like a bowl of jelly

Vanity sizing is ridiculous. I don't want to sound like someone's nagging mother, but it's much more important to be healthy and able to exercise than to be able to wear certain sizes of clothes.

TrashPanda · 26/01/2016 16:16

I have a pair of these from Gap and they are a UK4P but in these I am UK6R. I find Gap sizing baffling!

Claraoswald36 · 26/01/2016 16:17

I wear a gap 4 and a next 6 so not far out. Next 6 are but roomy

Nicebucket · 26/01/2016 16:18

You're so lucky😥

I used to be size 6, I'm 5 feet 4 inches. I'm a size 8 or little over now and it's depressing

Youarentkiddingme · 26/01/2016 16:24

I'm 5"7 and I'm off to Gap as I'd love to be a size 10.

Got to be easier than the diet I'm currently on. Grin

Outaboutnowt · 26/01/2016 16:26

I'm a bit shocked by some of these comments. 'You're so lucky', 'Jealous', 'ego boost' all a bit sad really.
Why is it such an ego boost to fit in a size 4, vanity or not, lighthearted or not. Who cares what size you are, 4,6,8, what difference does it make?

ProfGrammaticus · 26/01/2016 16:29

Gap sizing is indeed mad. It just means you can't shop there online. Why don't they, you know, actually measure the clothes and tell us how many inches/centimetres they are? Then we can measure our bodies and buy the right ones???

CountryRoadTakeMeHome · 26/01/2016 16:35

Most of you gathered that my OP was lighthearted and in no way am I a size 4 as I keep repeating it's ludicrous sizing! I do however love their jeans Grin

Although I appreciate the obvious concern in some posts it is totally viable to be 5ft 9 and a size 8. I eat well and exercise, I have a physically active job. I am slim rather than skinny.

Exactly Outabout, as I said in my second post, four down from the start of the thread.

Gosh, size 4??? do they do that in adult sizes??
