Ugg boots - yes or no?

I've been given some money for Christmas by DH who is far too crap to choose a present (frankly it's better this way...) We're in Germany which is bloody freezing and I'm kind of longing for some lovely sheepskin lined Ugg boots but don't know if they're a complete no no by now. Any views?

According to the Sunday Times style magazine they are still ok as long as worn casually uggs, the trend that refuses to die

DarrellRivers · 20/12/2006 19:28

probably no on balance(although take your point about the cold and being quite practical)

PeckaRolloverAgain · 20/12/2006 19:30

hell yes

taylormama · 20/12/2006 19:44

as soon as i get my redundancy money i am splashing out on a pair of Uggs and a matching handbag ... cannot wait ...

Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 19:45

Am definitely going to get some now, sepcially after Times article. But which ones? And from where? Does anyone have any good links?

taylormama · 20/12/2006 20:04

i am getting mine from Daniel footwear as they have a shop near me Daniel

greedyformincepies · 20/12/2006 20:08

yeah go for it! and get the gorgeous ones with laces up the front, i would! try this link

BlueDaisy · 20/12/2006 20:21

Yes they still look great with jeans imo. Wish I had some actually!

What ones are you going to get?

Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 20:27

Fab links! But do we know anyone who would pay £93 for "house boots" ie slippers...?

OP posts:
Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 20:28

I quite like the classic ones - legs are far too short for the knee-highs! Bit sand or chestnut ?

OP posts:
Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 20:30

And that's "BUT sand or chestnut"...

pedilia · 20/12/2006 20:32

I am going to get myself some after Xmas, I love em'

BlueDaisy · 20/12/2006 20:33

I lkie the sand ones, I would go for the tall ones but I have quite long legs.

MadamePlatypus · 20/12/2006 20:35

Uggs are great in a practical sense as a cosy boot to be warn after surfing, skiing, canoeing long walk in the freezing cold, when you are camping. I don't think they are fashionable anymore, but if you neeeeeed them to keep your toes cosy, go for it.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 20/12/2006 20:41

Ive just ordered some chestnut from a fab site i found.

its in NZ and they will ship here for free and only about 80 quid for classic short

BlueDaisy · 20/12/2006 20:41

But I think that Uggs are kind of like trainers/Timberland boots ie not highly fashionable but a 'basic' everyday item of your wardrobe type item?...

Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 20:45

That's what the Times article says. OMG, I'm buying "classic items" for my wardrobe. Must be a proper grown-up now And what's this fab site then Pecka??

OP posts:
saffy202 · 20/12/2006 20:47

I got some from the same site as Pecka - was wearing them today - so warm and cosy I didn't want to take them off

Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 20:48

My feet are freezing Do Ugg fans have any opinion on Crocs? Similarly unglam but comfy...

OP posts:
saffy202 · 20/12/2006 20:55

here is where mine came from

saffy202 · 20/12/2006 20:56

doh - doesn't work
www.hartings.co.nz if anyone can link it

Scootergirl · 20/12/2006 20:58

Brilliant! By the far the cheapest I've seen. Which ones did you get?

OP posts:
Snowstorm · 20/12/2006 21:01

I really love the thought of warm, cozy feet and imagine that Uggs must be wonderful but I don't have very long (or nicely shaped) legs - my brother got the nice legs in our family - and hate to think how much worse they would probably make me look ... darn it!

saffy202 · 20/12/2006 21:05

I got the short chestnut ones

saffy202 · 20/12/2006 21:07

Delivery was quick also - had seen lots of recommendations from another site which was reassuring.
