What foundation do you wear? I'm very fair skinned and struggle to find make up that doesn't look a bit too dark on me.

I'm quite pale, I wear max factor face finity all day flawless in warm almond. They have lighter shades then this in bigger boots stores. I've tried other more expensive foundation but always go back to this.

Heyheyheygoodbye · 08/01/2016 15:24

Nars. I thought their colour match was good - they paid attention to the pink/yellow etc not just the paleness.

slug · 08/01/2016 15:39

Lily LoLo for me, but 14 year old DD who is beyond pale, almost to the point of being blue, finds Pixi works for her. She uses the vitamin veil to cover spots, though they have liquid and powder foundations as well.

jamtartandcustard · 08/01/2016 15:49

Mac studio fix nc20. Also used loreal true match in rose ivory in the past

FelixFelix · 08/01/2016 15:52

The Body Shop sell 'foundation lightening drops' which you add to your foundation and mix to make it a lighter shade. I've not tried them yet (I have the same problem with foundation. Everything I try is too dark but I am allergic to tonnes of cosmetics so I'm really limited with what brands I can use) but I've read a lot of people say how good they are.

FoodPorn · 08/01/2016 15:57

Bobbi Brown here too (and I'm usually as white as a sheet)

KateSpadeAddict · 08/01/2016 16:00

I’m Bobbi Brown Alabaster too Smile

I am Snow White White Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 08/01/2016 16:21

The Nars Creamy concealer in Vanilla is the best concealer match I've found. Many are too dark or too pink and can be spotted a mile away.

MagpieCursedTea · 08/01/2016 16:27

Loads of great ideas here, thanks! Will have to do some shopping Smile

Boots Calico is far too dark for me and too pink- looks grey on my skin. Shame as I liked some of the formulas.
All the Bourjois ones are far too yellow too.

I find B Brown works, or Nars Mont Blanc, or my favourite at the moment, Dior Star in 101.

DD likes MAC in a very pale shade- can't recall the name.

TheLesserSpottedBee · 08/01/2016 16:43

I went to Boots completely bare faced except primer, and sat in a window where Clinque had their counter. I have their lightest one which I think is Alabaster.

The woman paid close attention to my skin undertones and put three different stripes of foundations on my skin to see which one matched the best.

The natural light massively helped and I definitely got the right one for me.

Larval secret beauty foundation is amazing stuff especially for pale and very pale skins.

Lots of different shades

Laval not larval!

Mac studio fix nc15

madmomma · 08/01/2016 20:31

Maybelline dream matte mousse in the palest shade. I love it more than posher ones

flippinada · 08/01/2016 20:36

I'm very pale and freckly with yellow undertones (undertone is always important but even more so when you're a pale face) and the following foundations I've found are really good:

Diorskin Star/Forever Fluid in Creme (011)
Clinque Even Better in Linen
Revlon Colorstay in Buff
Bareminerals original in fairly light/golden fair

taybert · 08/01/2016 20:37

Yup, lily lolo porcelain.

hollinhurst84 · 08/01/2016 20:45

I need pale and pink, so no yellow undertones
Best matches for me
Dollish veil vita bb cream in purple
Naked skin urban decay 0.5
Illamasqua skin base shade 2
Kevyn aucion sensual skin shade 02
Mac water weight NW15

RipMacWinkle · 08/01/2016 21:06

I am very pale with uneven skin tone and freckles ( selling myself here). I wear Armani Luminous Silk in the lightest colour which I think (confusingly) is 2

Plumpysoft · 08/01/2016 22:13

I have just bought the new Effeclar Blur BB cream and it is excellent. Much more coverage than a normal BB and perfect for pale skin

Wagglebees · 08/01/2016 23:31

There was a time when no range went quite pale enough and the counter assistants would desperately suggest they "warm me up" with something Katie Price would rule out as too orange. The past few years though, lots of companies have finally got wise and extended their shade range at either end, so instead of 6 shades of beige, there are cool and warm tones, very pale and very dark and everything in between. It's not all perfect but much better.

I'm currently using Lancome teint idole 24hr in 010. Not sure what shade that is. I've also used 005 (I think) which was slightly lighter. Both are cool shades.

Thinking of trying a By Terry one as I've heard good things recently and the shade range looks good.

Wagglebees · 08/01/2016 23:31

Rip Freckles are gorgeous!

Wagglebees · 08/01/2016 23:35

For concealer, Amazing cosmetics amazing concealer is...er amazing. I've got it in fair and it blends perfectly. Highly recommend it especially to anyone who has blemishes they want to disguise.

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 08/01/2016 23:40

Another vote for lily lolo.

They do a number of pale shades - porcelain, china doll, barely buff.

You can order samples fairly cheaply and they show a colour chart which shows whether they are blue, neutral or yellow based.

They're mineral foundations, so you'll need a kabuki, and if you google buffing you'll find the best way to apply it.

MagpieCursedTea · 08/01/2016 23:43

Lily lolo seems very popular! What's a kabuki? Is this something I should know about? Blush
