Under Arm Waxing

Hi, I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post so sorry if not.

I've won an under arm wax in a raffle at a salon but I'm slight anxious to have it done and trying to decide whether to or not.

Has anyone had it done and if so did you find it significantly painful?

Thanks.

What a strange raffle pize, 2nd prize two underarm waxes?

littlepinkgiraffe · 07/01/2016 20:06

I do hope I have won two and not just one. That would look a bit strange otherwise...

3rd prize a bikini wax, presumably 😄

SparklyTinselTits · 07/01/2016 20:25

Not going to lie....it hurts like hell.
I usually have a full Hollywood bikini wax, and that is less painful than an underarm wax Confused

chanie44 · 07/01/2016 20:27

I get mine down occasionally. I'm not going to lie, it does hurt, but it's over very quickly.

Hopefullyoneday1 · 07/01/2016 20:29

F**k me it hurts. Underarm hair roots are huge!
Tender for days after, you can't wear deodorant. Better off sticking to shaving

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2016 20:32

I've never had a Professional Wax but I do my own.

My Top Pit Tips Grin

Pre Wax scrub (exfoliate)
Make sure there's enough length to the hair
Skin must be dry (not easy in Summer, I'm hormonally flushing too)
Light dust of talc
Skin needs to be taut (I put my arm behind my head)
Wax applied in the direction of the hair and whisk off in the opposite direction
Mine usually takes two strios up and down to remove.

If someone is doing it for you, it'll be loads easier, you don't need to think "Ohh I don't want to now"

And it doesn't hurt. Smile

Crazybaglady · 07/01/2016 20:32

I don't find it remotely painful! It's the least painful of all waxwings to me!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2016 20:33

I apply antipong straight after...... Must be hard eh?

Don't have it done just before your period though, more sensitive.

brunette123 · 07/01/2016 20:36

Afraid I find underarms too painful to get them done anymore - bikini and legs lip eyebrows no problem but underarms felt like my whole arm was being ripped from the socket - I have a high pain threshold - no injections at dentist etc but cannot cope with underarm wax.

littlepinkgiraffe · 07/01/2016 21:45

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think I may just wimp out of this one! I have a very low pain tolerance.

Extremely painful!

(And I find having my eyebrows waxed quite relaxing).

Rinceoir · 07/01/2016 21:49

I would call the salon and ask if you can have a different treatment of the same price instead.

rubyflipper · 08/01/2016 11:31

I didn't find it painful at all. Although I hate having my eyebrows threaded because of the pain Shock

spaceyboo · 08/01/2016 13:13

Hurts. A couple of paracetamol/shots of alcohol an hour beforehand helps though.

Queenbean · 08/01/2016 13:48

I really like the feeling of it :) It doesn't hurt at all really, and because the area is so small any discomfort is really quick

Orrla · 08/01/2016 14:01

I get my partner to do my underarms with veet strips. He does a good job too!

I find it far less painful than bikini or eyebrow waxing.

QforCucumber · 08/01/2016 14:08

I don't wax but do epilate and find it less painful than epilating anywhere else on my body, I also love the slow regrowth.

lurkingabit · 08/01/2016 14:50

Not a bit painful!! And the results are fantastic. Takes 2 seconds. I love it, always do it in summer. Absolutely go for it. A doddle compared to leg waxing, and eyebrow threading. Eyebrow threading is a bitch.

Diddlydokey · 08/01/2016 14:54

Orrla who said that romance is dead!!

How long do you grow for and how long does it last lurking

lurkingabit · 08/01/2016 15:30

Well I am fair-haired and not v hairy, and I find I get about a month, but there are stragglers at that point. Not v obvious tho. If I was dark haired, probably not as long, but the regrowth is very soft-ish, so far less noticeable than shaving. I wouldn't shave anymore, I hate that dotty stubble.

Seriously it is so easy. The easiest bit of a body to de-hair.

judgelionelnutmeg · 08/01/2016 17:19

Only had it done once but it was literally bloody awful - in terms of pain and actual bleeding! Apparently it's not so bad for subsequent waxes but I never dared have another to see if that was true or not

ILoveOnionRings · 08/01/2016 17:53

I have it done every 3 weeks - any sooner and hair is not long enough and then it hurts. Eyebrows hurt more and as for legs I have tried twice and never had them done again as I could not bear the pain.

whojamaflip · 08/01/2016 18:03

I have mine done every 6 weeks or so along with eyebrows, Hollywood no half leg and can honestly say it's all fine apart from the legs - they kill!

One piece of advice - try and go about half way through your cycle as its def less painful

whojamaflip · 08/01/2016 18:03

Ffs AND lower leg - I'm not a yeti!
