If so, please advise how you did it. I want so badly to have a fresh berry lip but I can't do it.

I'm trying and failing!!! Confused

Pupsiecola · 03/01/2016 11:21

Ha! I too am guilty of this. Have you tried the Clinique Chubby Sticks? The original, sheer ones? A gentle and subtle splash of colour. I have three and really like them.

Rainbowglow · 03/01/2016 14:54

Not really. I love the idea of a bright lip and tey them but Keep going back to various nude lipglosses and lipsticks. I did however pick up a Josie Maran lipstick in Tickled Pink. Its sheer but has a pop of colour.

SunshinePanda · 03/01/2016 15:55

No help at all but I've just bought a nude lipstick this afternoon. Took me ages to find one in just the right shade of nude! I usually use just a lipgloss instead. I did try on a plum lipstick but quickly came to my senses. However I agree a burgundy berry crayon might be the way forward. Do any of you have the perfect nude lipstick?..

Destinysdaughter · 03/01/2016 15:58

I love them as they suit me! Make my lips look fuller and my face softer. Everyone's different but good luck trying new colours!

VagueIdeas · 03/01/2016 16:08

I'm trying!

I bought a couple recently - a fresh rose pink and a dark metallic reddy purple for Christmas. I'll come back and tell you the brands once I'm not stuck upstairs trying to get a baby to sleep.

But MAC Patisserie will always be my go-to lipstick Grin

Dungandbother · 03/01/2016 16:13

Do it do it.

I'm now addicted to red bright berry reds.
I discovered a brand called Delilah and it's fab, really really long lasting and doesn't dry my lips.
Also have an Aveda and a Nars.

I never wore lipstick. Now I'm never without it.
However, I have also heavied up the eyeshadow to balance my face out!

burnishedsilver · 03/01/2016 16:39

Try Rimmel Oh My Gloss lipgloss range as a way of easing yourself into stronger colours. The red is lovey and soft when on and it leaves my lips in great condition (so much so that I am looking for the clear one to use as a lip balm).

AppleSetsSail · 03/01/2016 18:33

OK, thanks ladies. I will try what's been suggested here (I do love Clinique Chubby sticks).

I have a Nars satin lip pencil in Biscayne Park that I can't seem to pull myself away from.

I honestly feel that i look best in a smokey eye and a nude lip, but I worry that I look like a wag.

Here you go:

MAC Patisserie - nude, goes with anything, wear all the time.

Revlon Ultra HD in Rose. This was the least scary looking colour - the others were much bolder. But actually, the formulation is so balmy I reckon I could consider pulling off another shade from the range.

Max Factor Colour Elixir in Mulberry. Now I always think that I look like a clown in a bold, dark colour (I've given up on any shade of red) but this is a kind of metallic berry. Again, I wear a light application so it's not too in your face. I was pleasantly surprised.

Start with sheer lipsticks like the Mac Lustre finishes

doctorboo · 04/01/2016 13:45

See, I have the opposite problem: I love a pinky berry colour but have always lusted after a decent nude.
My
MIL gave me a fabulous lip gloss set from m&s which has a fab nude and lovely subtle pinky shade and berry shade. Neither are garish and are very nice. There was also a lip balm in the pack too, which I use when I'm not using the glosses.

This is a pic of the darkest of the three: 'plum'

I like the sound of the Rimmel gloss and the look of the Mac Patisserie. Hope you have fun choosing.

AppleSetsSail · 04/01/2016 20:21

Mac Patisserie does look promising.

I love the look of that Revlon one

VagueIdeas · 04/01/2016 20:42

MAC Patisserie is a nude though! I photographed it just as a comparison.

Not that I'm saying don't buy it, because it's fab, but if you want to move away from nude lipstick, that ain't the one Grin

WhyDoesGastonBark · 05/01/2016 10:56

You just need the perfect shade to get you on your way. My first berryish tone was Rebel by MAC. After that I was converted.

I know, I came here looking for help and you set me up for a relapse before I even got started. Damn you.

Why is there no laughing crying emoji one here for your last comment!!

I'm a huge fan of nude lipstick, but as I've got older it makes me look totally washed out.

My favourite pale nude was Paul & Joe no 7 which I don't even think they produce anymore.

Now my daily nude is Mac Mehr. It matches my lip tone perfectly.

If I look particularly washed out or am going out in the evening, I switch to Mac Lady Danger.

I have to say I love seeing women wearing colour during the day. To me it indicates to me, they have comolete confidence.
