Read to the end to check whether my main rule is there and it's in the last post! No tights with peep toes or sandals - EVER. Makes me feel all funny when I see it.

BrianButterfield · 02/01/2016 21:36

I don't wear colour on top and black on the bottom because Trinny and Susannah said so! I don't know why this sticks, I'm not still wearing scarves as belts or anything.

FreeButtonBee · 02/01/2016 21:37

I can't wait to get back to having fashion rules again. Currently I rotate 3 pairs of gym leggings and a motley crew of vests and loose tops. With hair in a bobble and enormous parka over the top.

Sigh

Bexicles · 02/01/2016 21:42

No white jeans.
No imitation leather.
No polyester.
No visible logos.
I always wear perfume, even if I don't leave the house.

chocolatecheesecake · 02/01/2016 21:42

No trousers without a bum covering top ( pear shaped).

No bare toes without polish on nails

No double denim.

GrinAndTonic · 03/01/2016 03:17

Ankle straps, ankle boots, round toe shoes (ankles like a hippo).
Citrus colours
Midi skirts
High neck shirts (dreaded monoboob)
Bra strap showing
Rose gold

Glad it's not just me - I share so many of the above
No mixed metals
Always wear earrings
Always wear nail varnish (usually pale)
Footwear and bags must match or tone colour wise
No slogans or obvious branding
If I wear a patterned top, jumper or even dress - pattern has to be on back as well
Clean shoes
Coat, jacket or cardigan must not be shorter than what I'm wearing underneath it
Colour matched underwear
Colour matched socks
No visible underwear or even bra straps

Pointlessfan · 03/01/2016 09:27

Definitely agree with no white jeans or branding and that you can either have cleavage or legs on show, never both. I will never ever show my stomach and I have no desire to see anyone else's, that includes bikinis - hideous creation!

sarah2011 · 03/01/2016 09:36

Boobs or legs, never both. Heels with leggings (puke), light clothes with black shoes.

PennyPants · 03/01/2016 10:21

No bright lipstick
No trainers (only converse)
No to most patterns and prints especially camouflage
No to lime green, burnt orange and mustard yellow
No A line skirts

No Linen trousers
No baggy clothes
No waterfall cardigans
No SLS/Silicone-Free haircare. My hair needs all the silicones it can get!

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 03/01/2016 10:25

Polo necks and button up shirts make me feel strangled.
Yes to Use Your Belthooks.
Crop tops (muffin says no)
Yellow makes me look jaundiced.

Most importantly? Socks MUST match.

MrsPear · 03/01/2016 10:33

No logo / slogan clothing
Skinny jeans with long looser fit top or wide trousers with fitted top
Matching underwear
No metal mixing
No open toe shoes
No pencil or tube skirts
Dresses are fit n flare types
Probably loads more

OlafLovesAnna · 03/01/2016 10:35

Black skirt/trousers and a white top is a no no for me - I feel like a waitress

IrenetheQuaint · 03/01/2016 10:48

No waistless garments
No baggy trousers
No leggings
No V-necks (nothing wrong with them in principle but they look shit on me)
Prefer no visible bra strap but if unavoidable in summer it must match top
Gold not silver
No visible logos
No animal print
No glasses outside house unless medical necessity

Stepawayfromthezebras · 03/01/2016 10:48

No yellow gold and that includes bag hardware - I love it but have silver and white gold jewellery and am sticking with it
No black and bright colours or pastels - only wear black with neutrals and dark colours.
No logos or slogans
No jeans and high heels
No open toed shoes
No blue jeans and black shiny leather boots or shoes - only suede or nubuck
No patent shoes
No girly handbags - much prefer man bags
Basically I dress like a man Grin

PurpleTreeFrog · 03/01/2016 17:43

Question for those who must wear belts... Nearly all my tops are long ones that cover up the top of my jeans/trousers, and go down to mid bum length. Unless I'm wearing a shorter top, don't see the point in wearing a belt as the belt is not visible, the trousers stay up fine, and the belt adds bulk. Do all you belt wearers just wear hip length tops or do you wear the belt under long tops too?

cressetmama · 03/01/2016 18:06

No fluorescent colours, but only because they don't suit me. Bright is good, especially shoes.

I mix metals, because my wedding ring is a three colour Russian rolling ring so I can work things together.

I like most of the no-no's, just not all at once.

Navy and black -- can work.

Animal print -- one item, maybe.

Don't wear sandals with tights.
No logos or slogans.

The PP who discussed proportions was right, wide top narrow bottom, or vice versa.

Corygal · 03/01/2016 18:41

Dark blue and black - bring it on
Mixed metals - fine
Matching underwear - of course not

BUT

No artificial fibres
No all-over black until I'm 70
No garment that wraps, ie flashes pants/bosom mercilessly to bus queue

NOW I'M 45

No T-shirt shall cost less than £50, except Primark glories for £1
No chainstore bags or coats (except Uterque or Weekday)
No all-over pricy or all-over cheap

AND ALWAYS
Clothes that look like they were designed this century OR proper vintage
Spacious knickers 2 sizes too big, bliss
Scent every day

fiorentina · 03/01/2016 20:30

Never ever wear leggings except for the gym.
Fitted top or bottom, not both.
No bra straps.
Clean and reheeled shoes.

WilburIsSomePig · 03/01/2016 20:43

No opaque tights, or boots of any kind (except wellies) between May 1st and August 31st

But what would you do if it was bloody freezing on May 1st? What would happen then? Grin

I don't really have 'rules' as such, just things that I either like or dislike. The only one for me really is that I can't abide clothing with logos on it.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 03/01/2016 21:14

No embellishments, hate blingy things.
Always wear a vest top under everything. Gives a smooth line and keeps me warm.
Flat shoes or super high heels, no mid height heels they look awful.
I wear leggings around the house but would never leave the house in a pair.
Can't wear any coat or jacket without a scarf, chunky and warm in winter, floaty one in summer.
I have a wide arse and dumpy legs so tops need to end at my hips, above or below my arse and I look huge.
