I am going for

  1. Cut and colour. Not everyone colours their hair some of us only when we needed to at about 42
  2. Wrap dresses and big tits

I had a pixie cut a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Agree it's a bastard to grow out though.

Orangeanddemons · 30/12/2015 17:00

Totally agree with everything on here except the stuff about Cos. I think they're great.

AesopsMables · 30/12/2015 17:00

I like this thread.

Occasionally pop on here to ask advice and the lovely regulars will send through some good suggestions (its all about the briefing Wink)

Saying that...

Why do so many women want to emulate each other? I live in a small town which is very middle class. There is a standard 'uniform' that all the women wear - those between ages of 28-40 are the worst for this. I went onto the high st this afternoon and saw dozens and dozens of ladies wearing;

Fly London Boots
Canada Goose Coats (so not necessary in this weather)
Barbour Jackets in Navy Blue
Cross over body bags
Skinny Jeans

This means either there are a lot of sheep in these neck of the woods or the fashion manufacturers have v little imagination.

Must defend having colours done though, changed my life ten years ago as I often used to plump for Autumn colours and in my old photo's I look older than I do today in my Summer colours. still love a well made black all purpose top but wear silver jewellery near face

fluffypigs · 30/12/2015 17:02

SwedishEdith I totally agree, the name Mint Velvet really annoys me too! I don't really know why... perhaps because it doesn't really make sense?!

As for Cos, I agree a lot of their stuff is bizarre, but they do have some nice knitwear and they generally use good fabrics (except for that awful scuba stuff...)

I live in skater and 50s style dresses. Often with a waist belt Grin
But I'm a true hourglass with a massive bust/waist difference and not much else suits me

Irregular choice.

I just don't get it. They're witches shoes.

Mrs I once died my hair black thinking I would morph into Megan Fox.

I am the whitest person in the history of the universe. I was not remotely mistaken for MF even once...

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2015 17:08

Behold the 50s dresses and waist belts and leggings ShockGrin

Leggings as lounge wear only. I once wore DH's fleece to take out bins but no one spotted me. I hate all the "Don't wear fake tan, you'll be orange" advise on here. Seriously? I look like a consumptive without it. Plus need a bit of colour with my navy/grey Mint Velvet attire..And as for grey hair my hairdresser has promised to touch me up in my coffin in the unlikely event they are showing should I die suddenly. Actually that is a good thing about death I suppose as your hair won't grow. This feels good.

HortonWho · 30/12/2015 17:12

thankfully after reading about them here, I realised I pass their store regularly and went in before I looked at their website. I have to take photos of their tags and note the product number when I try something in their store (and want to wait til it goes on sale) because I can't recognise the piece I tried on from their website. They need to use non-flat chested models, it's ridiculous.

HardleyWorthit · 30/12/2015 17:13

Grin burnished!

So many to choose from but these are my personal faves..

Oh thanks hardly. Thats my new years outfit sorted.

mudandmayhem01 · 30/12/2015 17:15

Hollin, you are very brave! You look fab in the first two dresses, the third not so keen on, buts that's only my opinion. You do the 50s look really well without it looking like fancy dress.

HardleyWorthit · 30/12/2015 17:15

That's my winter boots sorted.

I'm brutal. When posters ask if they should get a pixie cut, I ask if they've got a heart shaped face, wide apart eyes and a small nose. If it's yes, yes, yes then ok it'll look good.

HardleyWorthit · 30/12/2015 17:16
Grin

Glad to be of service!

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 17:17

But saying that, I did get my hair cut short once because it had become ME. I wanted to shake it off, officer. Glad I did. I was in between two court cases at the time.

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2015 17:18

Mud - meh I've given up caring! Trying to dress a size 12/14 waist and 34K bust is hard enough without looking for approval

TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 17:19

Hollin you look lovely. I have a similar style to the first two pics great to see someone else wearing it Smile

TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 17:20

That second one is a collectif dolores isn't it?! I have some of those they are amazing

lurkingfromhome · 30/12/2015 17:21

Yes, on a similar note:

OP: Should I stop dyeing and let my grey hair grow in? I'm 40 and tired of dyeing my hair.

75 million posters: Yes! Look at Helen Mirren. She looks A-MAY-ZING. Do it!

Me: Don't do it. Unless you look like Helen Mirren or similarly fantastic in every other possible aspect. You will age by 20 years overnight.

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2015 17:21

It is. I have two of them, find them v comfy and the bust/waist ratio is good on me
The first is a PUG Heidi in spiderweb print
Most things I buy to fit bust then have 6-10 inches taken off the waist and hips

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 17:22

it's a reminder of how personality is a factor all right. I am more up down. not ''curvy''. I look ''sexiest'' in plain fitted clothes but that be very women's institute written down.
