How do we style this dress (photo included)

I'm going to wear this dress to a winter wedding. I've only worn it in the summer with bare legs and high sandals. How do I style it? Can I wear opaques like that in the photo? I only have patent shoes, will they look odd if worn with opaques?

They are definitely warmer but they look a little casual to me.

I don't think they are casual. It depends upon the shoes and bag. They look more dressy to me than the yellow one in your first pic.
dot I like that but it has no sleeves.

Notfootball · 11/12/2015 22:41

dot the link didn't work for me but was it the purple/cobalt dress? If yes then I agree that it is lovely, I didn't see anything like that when I was out today.

I think the dress is too dressy for wedding unless it's black tie but oh my God you have an amazing figure.

BrendaandEddie · 13/12/2015 15:29

Fgs get a winter dress already

Nadoligllaweneto · 13/12/2015 19:08

Its a lovely dress OP but for a evening "do" not for a daytime wedding and not a daytime winter wedding. You need sleeves and a warmer material and something a bit more appropriate for the occasion.
If it were just the night time party then it would be lovely.

Dontyouopenthattrapdoor · 13/12/2015 19:35

Yellow and grey is hot though. And that yellow dress is lush. I'd do it, with nude tights, grey knee high boots and some sort of grey cardi/jacket thing.

Notfootball · 13/12/2015 19:38

Brenda your scolding made me laugh.

Thank you Burnished

Nado I changed my mind and went for this one which is something like you suggested above. I notice on another thread that lace is "over" but I don't give a damn. I'm sticking with this one (I think!).

Seriously, for a day wedding???

AlwaysBeYourself · 13/12/2015 20:21

Whoops!!! Sorry I was still referring to your original yellow dress which looked far far too cold. Brrrrr!. This is lovely

Nadoligllaweneto · 13/12/2015 20:25

That's got sleeves, Yay!!!! How will you accessorise it Not?

BrendaandEddie · 13/12/2015 20:37

Will work for a winter day wedding as dark. Well done

BrendaandEddie · 13/12/2015 20:37

It's really really nice. You'll look great.

Notfootball · 14/12/2015 14:01

Woohoo!

I think black shoes and silver accessories Nado.

AlwaysBeYourself · 14/12/2015 14:04

Will you not be cold during the day though? What about black knee high boots and a black coat for day and then go all out in the evening.

Twinklestein · 14/12/2015 14:31

Great dress OP (the last one)

I don't think boots would show off the dress (and your figure) to full effect. I'd wear a big coat if it's a church do, and take a shawl/wrap for the reception just in case.

AlwaysBeYourself · 14/12/2015 14:33

So what about cold legs Twinklestein?

Black tights with the black shoes?

AlwaysBeYourself · 14/12/2015 14:35

Nude?

I still think I would wear knee high, high healed suede boots though.

AlwaysBeYourself · 14/12/2015 14:35

"heeled"

leghoul · 14/12/2015 14:48

I think they are all lovely! any dress can be made appropriate for winter... unless it's a very thin cotton white-ish strappy see through thing.

I love the yellow one with red lips and black shoes/jacket

or the others, but not with opaques for the wedding I think

Twinklestein · 14/12/2015 14:48

I would def wear tights personally. Xmas Smile

I just think boots will spoil the line of the bodycon dress & cover up OP's great legs.

leghoul · 14/12/2015 14:51

Last one is gorgeous. Think shoes sound fine, either black sheer tights or skin toned tights, not opaque, with some sparkly earrings and a big winter coat.

leghoul · 14/12/2015 14:51

I vote no to boots
