I have never heard as much chat about Debenhams - surely the SHITTEST shop in the world, as on here in the last few weeks

SO own up - who works for Debenhams social media company?

I like it. So there

AndNowItsSeven · 05/12/2015 21:55

I love bhs kids clothes, particularly the old fashioned little girls dresses and pjs with matching doll pjs.

Seems to be quite branch dependent. My local one (student town, youngish population, small, Debenhams largest only department store) is pretty alright. The next town over (older community, OAP holiday destination, larger town, more shops) has had its Debenhams teleported in from 1963.

AnyFucker · 05/12/2015 22:01

it's ok for some stuff surely ?

I have some tokens to use

I am looking for a winter coat

I am pretty sure I will find one. Or perfume. Or make up. Or accessories. Swimwear is ok (seasonally). Lingerie is fine too (I like Floozie by Frost French, myself)

Cleo81 · 05/12/2015 22:02

It's old for me, in my early 30s. I brought from warehouse, oasis and top shop years ago but they've left now. All the kids things were too sparkly and with logos etc for me. I have got a few things for ds when he was a baby from babyzoo in the sale which are nice but it wouldn't be my first choice.

southeastastra · 05/12/2015 22:03

it depends on what your branch is like, the one in harrow has a topshop/miss selfridge/oasis/warehouse and elemis stuff which is always nice

Armi · 05/12/2015 22:03

I like Debenhams. I am fat. They stock fat woman clothes; a considerable array of fat woman clothes, compared to other shops. I like this.

BumWad · 05/12/2015 22:05

Jewellery in debenhams is good, but the best bit is concessions. Also bras and make up.

BHS for lighting and homeware

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 05/12/2015 22:07

I worked in cosmetics in Debenhams for five years until March this year. I hate the place for many reasons!

Aciderwouldbenice · 05/12/2015 22:11

The one in m/bro has a lovely make up area and is quite decent for ladies clothing. The one is York is appalling, just terrible.

DeltaZeta · 05/12/2015 22:12

It's good for some things. Red Herring do a maternity range which is stocked in store. So many other retailers are online only for maternity clothes which can be a real PITA. Their bras fit me nicely too just don't get measured there.

NameChanger22 · 05/12/2015 22:15

Our branch is really good, only John Lewis is better. Debenhams always has lots of really good sales.

GoApeShit · 05/12/2015 22:16

My nan buys DS clothes from there. I had to exchange an couple of items as they didn't fit. I got given a gift voucher; I wasted spent nearly an hour of my life trying to spend £30 in Debenhams. Fucking awful shop. I eventually emerged with some Lego, feeling about 40 years older than I am. It's like a timewarp in their stores.

abbsismyhero · 05/12/2015 22:19

i have a brilliant debenhams where i live the ladies are lovely it smells fresh its clean they can actually measure my daughter correctly for a bra i don't really like the clothing just the undies and the perfume

ohtheholidays · 05/12/2015 22:23

Our local one is nice but bloody massive,it feels like you could spend a whole day getting around there and it's carnage this near to Christmas.

LemonRedwood · 05/12/2015 22:26

I lived with a girl at university called Deb Benham. She was lovely.

Can't stand Debenhams. John Lewis, House of Fraser, Fenwicks all much better.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/12/2015 23:02

The one here is really run down, but it does have an excellent Urban Decay counter, and a Benefit Brow Bar. It's also free for cllick and collect which is useful for brands like Bobbi Brown and Guerlain now John Lewis charge if it's under £30.

ggirl · 05/12/2015 23:21

the debenhams in bournemouth is like a relic from the shitty past

the clothes are all colourful empire line tunics and matching trews

truly hideous

I'm amazed it hasn't gone under

MummySparkle · 05/12/2015 23:46

Exasperated my mum has just retired from Debenhams after working there for 38 years! Shock

JaceLancs · 06/12/2015 00:57

My nearest debenhams has a really good selection of perfumes and if you keep an eye out for the deals can be the cheapest
It also has warehouse, oasis, coast, miss selfridge, phase eight and many others
Not a bad range of shoes either - I bought a pair of miss kg boots there recently as they gave the best discount, especially if you have a debenhams card

ChippyOik · 06/12/2015 01:00

i didn't realise it was shit. It sells a lot of the same stuff that a whole load of other shops sell.

I like the principles line, and we don't have principles (shops) in Ireland any more only concessions in debenhams.

itsbetterthanabox · 06/12/2015 01:19

Armi which fat clothes do they have? I've never seen plus in there.

80sWaistcoat · 06/12/2015 06:21

The one in Bath is good, same concessions as most other big shops. And some of the debenhams collection stuff is good, for basics in colours that work for me.
