I fell in love with the advert in April 1986 Cosmo. Didn't get my first bottle till 87 though, then wore it for years.

I think it's been reformulated (haven't all the good ones) and is a bit sweeter now.

It's still very me-when-I-was-achingly-cool.

So many of those 80s in your face perfumes are fab. Not like the sweet sugary pink stuff that comes out every week now, with such stupid names I don't even want to smell them.

Obsession night is nice, a wee bit lighter x

i confess my judgement may be colored slightly by the fact that these people wore it,

An old teacher, who smoked like a chimney then sprayed herself with Obsession before entering the classroom, but she still stank,
and
An ex work colleague ,who had a cleaning job to do, before coming to her second job. She used to use Obsession to ''mask the smell of bleach''.

I'm sure on a freshly washed body, it doesn't smell so bad

I would love to walk past someone wearing Obsession, it takes me back to my twenties.

In honour of this thread I had a little squirt in HoF this afternoon. It's lovely! Doesn't feel dated at all. I'd buy it again.

I've still got a bottle upstairs from years ago, it has probably gone off now but this thread has made me want to have a sniff of it.

I like it too. I wouldn't like giorgio now though! I used to wear Giorgio, for a short while

Eternity was lovely actually......... I might revisit that scent, hmm, it's very fresh. I like fresh scents that aren't lemon.

Do you think it would make a reasonable sub for Cinema? I have the reformulation and it lasts approximately 17 minutes on me. What about this Byzance, worth a blind buy?

Cuh. I used to love Obsession and it was one of the few perfumes of the time that really suited me. I had no idea they still sold it. I'm now going to find a tester somewhere.

Been wearing since I could afford it 25 years ago. Loved it the and still love it now.
Feel weird if dont smell like me. Kids associate it with me too.

I wouldn't touch Giorgio Beverly Hills with a six-foot pole. I used to work for them; there was a permanent cloud of overpowering fragrance hanging over the whole office.

It wasn't all bad....funn-est job I ever had, and met DH there.

What did you do? Cut up the little tester cardboard things?

I got mine from Amazon. It's going to take me about 6 months to get through that bottle!

I moved onto Poison from Obsession.

I've clearly always been a bit in-yer-face when it comes to perfume.

The old Obsession was definitely less sweet though. More earthy somehow. Was it Jerry Hall who said it smelled like sex or was that Angel? I went through an Angel phase as well.

I realise I am very unlikely to ever waft around in a Jo Malone grapefruity kind of perfume.

Love Obsession - the basil note in it is so nice. To me it's quite a dry, desert-y, herbal oriental.

Don't like Angel. Do they still make CK Contradiction? Used to really like that.

Angel is very divisive and should probably get a thread of its own. Personally I recognise the genius of it, but it smells horrible on me and I think too many people wear it too heavily.

Have you tried Byblos Cielo MissB? It's clearly an Angel rip-off (costs about 9 euro for 100ml) but isn't as sweet as Angel.
