Crem, it was a friend 's GDS, and the tie was sorted out - 95% tie! We're going down to Yorkshire later today to see them. When my DSis rang yesterday about the new baby, she also has tongue tie. Because their first baby had undiagnosed tongue tie for about 6 weeks (and therefore feeding problems) it was checked straight away. I think, yet again, it will have to be dealt with privately as either there is a waiting time, or some Trusts don't think it matters. Hmm

Cremo · 11/11/2015 09:26

Oh sorry to hear that NU. My dsis, the midwife, says earlier better than later, so unfortunately they are right to go private if there is a long list.

Oh good grief. The cleaning I'm going to have to do later.SadSad
Maybe I can get a note from Sister that I can't clean because of Longchamp Pliage.Grin

BeachysFlipFlops · 11/11/2015 09:28

Cremo, leave them to it. I figure that if workman want to rifle through my financial documents or try to nick anything valuable, it would take them so long to find it in the mess, they'd give up Smile

Last day of window men here today, phew.

Lalsy · 11/11/2015 09:30

NU, that's lovely news.

Crem, I am having work done at the moment and I go out whenever I can, even tho it means lugging my laptop around cafe neros! I would go and find a nice sofa somewhere.

Lalsy · 11/11/2015 09:31

Beachy, my thoughts exactly. Think also with social media, they are all very concerned about their reputations.

herbaceous · 11/11/2015 09:49

Run away, crem. I remember spending eight weeks trying to find things to do out of the house, with DS (3), in November/December, while our kitchen was done. A number of barrels were scraped.

Thanks to top tips, am now googling Lovely Bags. Mmmmmm.... There are some crackers out there.

Had to have Words with school this morning. DS has got pretty bad handwriting. He has been going to 'sparkle club' before school every morning since the start of term to work on this. The teacher taking it says he's coming on nicely, and is just lovely. However, his literacy teacher made him cry yesterday (a rare occurrence) by telling him his handwriting was 'appalling'. I feel this is a) too harsh and b) mixed messages. He's six. However bad his handwriting is, it does not merit being called 'appalling', in a harsh tone, and to be made to cry. He tries so hard, and is so good. Sad

motherinferior · 11/11/2015 09:58

And Literacy is not the same as Handwriting, ffs.

herbaceous · 11/11/2015 10:02

I know. His comprehension is amazing, as is his writing construction. He just can't get it down fast enough.

Lovely sparkle club teacher also assessed his reading, which is apparently 'outstanding' and 'off the charts'. I love lovely sparkle club teacher.

DP has appalling handwriting, yet is extremely articulate. I sense a pattern.

Lalsy · 11/11/2015 10:21

Does the literacy teacher know what "appalling" means? Poor little ds.

Cremo · 11/11/2015 11:13

Ach Herbs, that's not fair, especially in front of ds. If she had anything to say about him it should have been done behind closed doors. I think she could save the word 'appalling ' for her own behaviour.

Electrician has drilled into the back boiler pipe and now flooded the living room. I am calmer than him who is running about in mode of headless chicken.
Me " can you fix it?"
Him " yes , yes , that's no problem"
Well then it's not a problem, just drain the tank , and get on with it"
Him, somewhat calmer and sucking his fag, " oh ok"
Ffs, I am outta here. Can't be arsed with this. And I'm on leave too. Am away to Sofa In Cafe.

wordassociationfootball · 11/11/2015 11:37

Crem, you made me right giggle with Longchamp pliage/Sister comment. I'd give the spark one of them, 'n' all.

'Appalling' is not a word any teacher should say about a child unless they have done something.... apalling. (She/ he is a twat. If I wrote a note to that effect, however, you would not be able to read it Blush. I have had he worst handwriting in my house since dd2 was about 5, as I may have mentioned.)

hattymattie · 11/11/2015 12:34

Congrats to NU - such good news. Here is a bank holiday. Trying to get everything organised before I go off to see my parents tomorrow.

Herbs - unfair for DS - take heart that my DF was told at medical school that his writing was do bad he'd never make a doctor!

bigTillyMint · 11/11/2015 12:42

Herbs, that teacher is out of order for saying that. She should be encouraging to improve FFS - like the Sparkle club teacher!

I am tired. Two nights of DH tossing and turning. Ofsted not going wellSad

Rosebag · 11/11/2015 16:08

Sorry to waffle on about us...but DS2 has just got an unconditional offer from Birmingham Star Wine Smile

Will come back later and catch up...

hattymattie · 11/11/2015 16:13

Yay congratulations to DS Rose. What a relief.Smile

motherinferior · 11/11/2015 16:15

Yay for DS. I am wiped and not sure I taught them well today.

Collymollypuff · 11/11/2015 16:21

Huge congrats to your ds, Rose - we could do with one of them here. Fingers crossed. Mind you, dd has got reasonable offers from the two also-ran unis (we had no idea she was putting them down! And still no idea why!) and Newcastle, which she declined to visit on the grounds that it was too far away. Nothing as yet from her top choice {wibble}

OP posts:
Rosebag · 11/11/2015 16:29

Molly He waited a month for the Brum one to come through....and has been like a bear with a sore head....I mean vile. He's holding from Newcastle (which he did visit and said he loved...) and Exeter at the moment. It'll happen...you'll see.

Stropperella · 11/11/2015 16:31

Well done to your ds, Rose. And well done to your dd, Molly. Fingers crossed you will hear something from no. 1 choice soon.

Meanwhile, here dd is still putting the finishing touches to her personal statement, which will then have to trundle its way through the school's system, and she is also busy smarming up to her teachers to try and convince them to give her decent predicted grades. Hmm Dd has discussed various details with me, but I have not had any sight of the personal statement. Probably better that way.

NUFC69 · 11/11/2015 16:43

Congratulations to those receiving offers - as you know I love Newcastle, too, Rose.

Awful comments from the teacher about DS, Herbs: poor little thing.

Crem, sofa in the caff sounds like a good idea under the circumstances.

Hatty, will you have any spare time whilst you're over here - I can always find time for a coffee at short notice? Bring your Mac, though, and wellies as it seems to have rained non stop for days.

motherinferior · 11/11/2015 16:50

I am in a 'WIBU to open the cooking red' state. Answer - yes till after dinner (said red is reasonably drinkable I think).

bigTillyMint · 11/11/2015 16:55

That's great Rose!

Fingers crossed Molly.

Cremo · 11/11/2015 17:52

Oh Rose that's his 1st choice isn't it? Wow just wow! That's a load off, as he's already got in, you'll not have quite such a nail biting time in June. Woohoo!Wine

Cremo · 11/11/2015 18:03

I am shattered. Electrician still not finished as due to the flooding, he is behind.. Another whole day of it tomorrow. Yawn. I have made a chocolate cake in protest.Cake

Lalsy · 11/11/2015 18:04

Great news on Brum offer, Rose. And hope you hear soom Molly, but as you know some take their time for no apparent reason. Stropps, go dd - it is great she sounds like she is getting her act together. Think you deserve a lovely cocktail or something when she pushes the big red button.

New HRT guidles about to be published, dear crepeys.....
