Have you had a boob job?

More 'style' than 'health' imo.

Can you tell me whether you are pleased with it or not? Would you do it again? Is there you didn't know but wished you had?

I saw a woman on the tube yesterday who had clearly had one

She looked incredibly silly, she had a wobbly flabby body and these stupidly large and pert tits! So clearly not hers

I would say if you ghave to have it done make sure they are appropriate to the rest of you

talcy0 · 07/06/2007 11:08

I wouldn't want surgery

But i would love better norks

what can you do?

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 11:12

No but I would get an arse lift

LoveAngel · 07/06/2007 11:19

I have also seen old women with them (very common where my MIL lives in the US) and it looks absolutely ghastly. Wrinkly turkey necks, withered arms...and huge great plastic bazookas! Freaky! Aside from the moral issue, I just don't think many boob jobs look that good. You can usually spot them a mile off and they look...well, like fake tits.

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 11:24

Whereas an arse lift just makes ones trousers look neater.

Hideehi · 07/06/2007 12:20

I've had one and they are bloody fantastic, worth every penny, they really have changed my life again for the better.

I had fantastic tits as a youngster and they got worse and worse after each pregnancy and tbh tits and legs were really my only good features so without them I felt really downtrodden and not "me" if that makes sense.
Anyway I took the plunge about 8 weeks ago and am utterly delighted, I haven't gone any bigger just filled out the old socks and lifted them back where they once were.
Utterly fab, I'll send pictures if anyones really considering it, not just wanting a perv lol

electra · 07/06/2007 12:21

I understand why some people object to surgery but I just think you only live once so if you have the opportunity to change something why not? In my case I used to have quite big boobs but bf for 4 years has left them looking empty - I only want something resembling what I had before. I want it to look natural though - don't like the stuck-on globe look.

electra · 07/06/2007 12:23

Hideehi - where did you go? How has your recovery been?

Spider · 07/06/2007 12:26

I agree with loveangel. I believe in keeping it real. I love myself and I don't want to pretend I'm someone that I'm not. I'm also freaked out that it has become so unremarkable to actually use a scalpel and cut up healthy skin and insert foreign bodies to alter yourself.. it seems self abusive. Deeply, deeply disturbing.

I wish women could be happy with themselves. Why do mums want to look like people who've never had kids?

electra · 07/06/2007 12:31

Some people who have had kids don't lose their boobs like I have. It's not about wanting to look like I haven't had children. I don't think it's any different from having your teeth straightened or whatever. If I had a huge hook nose I would have a nose job.

Darciesmum · 07/06/2007 12:36

I'd love to have a boob job just to go up to a C cup, was 34C before i had my daughter and am now a 32A and miss my chest. but can't afford to have one rite now

Hideehi · 07/06/2007 12:43

Spider - I think your thinking about this too much, why do I want to look like a woman who hasn't had kids, simply because I am more than a mother, I'm a great mother who adores her children but they come through and leave to live their own lives, I still am me myself and I too.

I went through Bupa because they were nearest, chatted to one surgeon who I felt was more than qualified and I had every confidence in. Recovery was fine, painful for 3 weeks but I was up and about after 2 days, 5 kids Easter holidays, no choice lol.
I was back at work after 4 weeks I think and now they are brilliant, I'm really happy with the results and am so glad I didn't delay any longer. I had the tear drop shape by the way which are very natural, not too globes stuck onto my chest.
And I also got into shape first, not point in having pert tits with a big arse and belly, it has to look right to be worth the £6k.

I wouldn't be doing it for my dh - I would be doing it for me. It's hard not to look like the same person I did - I'm still only 26. Why do people object so strongly to it? If you disagree fine, but what's right for one person isn't for another.

Agree with spider on the 'self abuse' thing. Think about it. You are having an operation, where your breasts are cut open and a piece of some weird foreign material is stuffed inside your tit before its stitched back up. And that material won't last forever. You will have to have it replaced ...or end up eventually having it removed and being left with worse than what you started with. Its quite a huge thing to do - quite an extreme length to go to - and I think its RGHT that spider and others think deeply about that and question it, rather than go with the strange trend in western society for supposed self-improvement.

electra · 07/06/2007 15:31

You're right - it is kind of odd and actually not like me generally. But we all do things to make ourselves look better don't we? I am not trying to conform to any sort of ideal. But I don't want to give up on looking how I want just because I'm going to be old one day.

electra · 07/06/2007 15:35

Also I know it's a big thing to do, but I have given it a lot of thought and nothing has really put me off.

Hideehi · 07/06/2007 16:47

I wasn't suggesting that a boob job is something to rush into or without any thought, but quite simply it's something that made me feel more confident and like my old self. Yes i'm going to get older and yes i'm going to fight that all the way too.
For me, I'm more confident, my sex life has improved and I feel I wear nicer clothes and I'm worth taking care of again because of that operation, maybe it is sad that it took a boob job to get me there but I'm sure I would have spent more than £6k on a shrink to give me the same results.
Each to their own.

kittylette · 07/06/2007 16:50

No, but i'd LOVE one!

electra · 07/06/2007 16:59

Hideehi - thanks for your input. I'm rather surprised people think it's so terrible but then I'm no feminist

electra · 07/06/2007 22:49
