Have you had a boob job?

More 'style' than 'health' imo.

Can you tell me whether you are pleased with it or not? Would you do it again? Is there you didn't know but wished you had?

Its a really personal thing, I don't think anyone would make the decision lightly, although it is definetly more readily available nowadays.
Im unhappy with other area's of my body, but i wouldn't dream of having any kind of surgery done on them. I wouldn't even change my eating habits, I can live with the small things.
I just couldn't live with my boobs, they really affected me.

feelingfedup · 13/12/2006 08:38

Sorry to buck the trend but for me it is not really such a big thing. If I had bad teeth (buck teeth or discoloured teeth ot ugly teeth), I would fix them.

My body is just the same, if it is making me unhappy and I can't make the changes using diet/exercise/good hair-cut/make-up then I am happy to go under the knife.

My money, my body, my risk.

riab · 13/12/2006 12:10

I wouldn't but then me and DH are happy with my tiny bust (34 AA). I went up to a 34B/C when my milk came in and didn't feel like me.

However I would have other plastic surgery, i'd have anything done around my eyes or chin/jawline if that starts to sag.

My basic principle is if my neck or eyes go despite me having done what I can to keep it looking good, (ie eat well, not get fat, exercise, plenty of water, moisturise etc) then I would consider it.

My mom has good plump skin but her eyes are awful and mine are going that way too, so in 10 years time i may get the lids 'undrooped'. So i'd ask to have my 30yr old eyes back, but i wouldn't ever choose to have something I didn't have - ie bigger boobs.

Easy for me to say though, I'm 30, no droopy bits, size 10 and decent regular features.

donnie · 13/12/2006 13:46

oh just listen to you all....silly, transparent, vacant, bubble headed....

feelingfedup · 13/12/2006 13:55

Yes Donnie - why are you listening?

buktus · 13/12/2006 19:11

i have recently had a tummy tuck which has changed me so much i am now so confident my boobs are quite big any way 34E but if they got too droopy i would have them done and i might have my eyes done in 20 or so years time - dont see the big problem with it at all

ImMcDreamyingofawhitexmas · 13/12/2006 19:15

I wouldn't I don't think but I would emphasize what has already been said - get a proper referral, go to a reputable surgeon and DON'T GO ABROAD - am currently living in abroad and the post operative care is non existent! You get what you pay for.

riab · 13/12/2006 20:14

donnie, why is it silly to want to feel good about your looks?

eggnog · 13/12/2006 20:53

So pleased about this discussion. after 9 months of bf ing my previously fairly nice boobs are a disaster area. so, if i manage to bf all my future kids (hopefully) for at least a year each i am going to reward myself with a nice new pair. yay!

dont see what the prob is really, donnie. if i fancy a nice new pair of foster tits for my troubles i shall damned well have them.

MerryPiffmas · 13/12/2006 20:56

bang out of order donnie - vanity it is not.
And I would happily post pictures of my tits to show exactly why I am changing mine for a few szies smaller
How dare you make a judgement accusing women of being vacuous and bubbleheaded.
Says more about you than it does is to be honest.

QuadropheniaonIce · 13/12/2006 20:59

Had a reduction best thing I ever did

eggnog · 13/12/2006 21:02

right on piff, i have two friends who have had reductions and it has changed their lives. they had dreadful back ache for donkeys years.

having an enlargment is slightly different, but is totally personal. i am genuinely worried about the state of mine when i finish bf-ing and a significant amount of my sexual identity is wrapped up in my norks. i am going to see how things are when i finish all this lark, then if i am not happy i will definitely get them sorted.

BTW, my friend had a reduction on the NHS. she had a sympathetic GP who referred her after years of back probs.

Mojomummy · 13/12/2006 21:12

eggnog, why not get them done BEFORE you have more children ? No time like the present & if they get too saggy, you may need to have your nipples repositioned (more risky I suspect)

Besides BF after boob jobs improves them

donnie · 13/12/2006 21:38

well, the fact that this is posted under ' style' says everything IMO....

let's give boob jobs to our daughters on their 16th birthdays. Oh, and lipsuction, nose jobs, blash blah blah. Cos if they ain't 'perfect' Jordan style, we won't love them will we? let's set them a good example by having our own bodies nipped and tucked until we look like some man's fantasy of a female.

like I said vacuous and bubble headed. How do I dare piff? by reading this desperate thread, that's how. Get a f***g life FGS some of you. Life is about more than the size of your breasts. Or hadn't you realised??? Uber pathetic.

mckenzie · 13/12/2006 21:50

In my 5 years on Mumsnet I have never before responded to such a virulent posting but I'm going to now.
Life is about more than the size of my breasts, no one is denying that. But if by changing the size of my breasts I am going to make myself happier and more confident then it is my choice to do so. Why are you so against something that does not affect you personally in any way whatsoever?

donnie · 13/12/2006 22:05

but it DOES affect me - it affects all of society by the message it sends out.Can you really not grasp this simple fact?

Duh.

mckenzie · 13/12/2006 22:12

I personally am not sending a message to anyone other than myself and my very close family as no one else knows.
Do you drink donnie?
do you smoke?
do you drive a big gas guzzler car?
do you swear?
do you do the lottery?
do you ever diet?
do you buy clothes from Tesco?
do you let friends copy dvds for you to save you buying them?

QuadropheniaonIce · 13/12/2006 22:14

You don't know me donnie you have no idea how I parent my children, the issues are often more complex than vanity.

eggnog · 13/12/2006 22:19

donnie does have a point. i have a little boy and it does occur to me that it will send a message to him if his mother has breast implants. not sure of exactly what the message is but i am sure it isnt positive. however, to say 'pathetic', 'bubble-headed' etc... is a bit OTT. i never imagined i would be the 'sort' of person who would consider cosmetic surgery, but .....

i have recently been offered reconstructive surgery on my fanjo. it is purely cosmetic, but the obstetrician and my husband both believe i should have it done. i never see it, so dont want it. (imagine- a scalpel roudn there- ugh) do you think, donnie, the fanjo surgery is as bubble headed as the boob surgery? fanjo damaged by childbirth, boobs by breastfeeding... is one less valid than the other. or should i leave both?

donnie · 13/12/2006 22:20

oh dear, change the subject why don't you? it's an old ploy.........you know exactly what I am talking about mckenzie.

start saving for your dd's first bout of plastic surgery now. It's more worthwhile than a lot of charities doncha know.

eggnog · 13/12/2006 22:22

or as my obs put it, get a fanjo like a porn star again.

just think- designer fanjo and tits

woo hoo- my lucky dh

donnie · 13/12/2006 22:26

yes, it's a laugh a minute eggnog. I say get them both then get your little boy's penis enlarged at the same time. Then maybe he could look like a porn star too! one big happy plastic family.Nice.

mckenzie · 13/12/2006 22:27

my daughter is the most beautiful 21 month old donnie, inside and out, that I am absolutely sure she will never wish for plastic surgery! and as for charity donation, I certainly do more than my fair share, I can assure you of that.
Personally I'm off to bed now. So goodnight one and all.

donnie · 13/12/2006 22:30

yes, avoid the issue why don't you....

ClementClarkeMoore · 13/12/2006 22:33

Precis anyone?
