Impossible? Smart black (fleece lined) jacket help

CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 17:35

Looking for this:

  1. hip length (not cropped)
  2. black
  3. jacket that zips down the front
  4. is fleece or is fleece lined and
  5. looks smart.
  6. AND HAS NO HOOD!

Basically a smart looking black fleece/sports type jacket with a cosy fleece lining.

Price isn't important if I can get this exactly.

I had a really lovely designer fleece jacket that is on its last legs. It was fleece lined (and lovely soft against the skin snuggly fleece) but the outside was more a very matt neoprene type fabric. It wasn't actually neoprene but that was the look so the over all effect was very smart. Although it was basically sports wear, it didn't look it.

I can find anything similar. Everything either looks smart but is not fleece inside (or if it is fleece is not nice quality snuggly fleece) or is completely fleece (ie the outside is fleece/cheap cotton) so looks like a very casual item or has a hood.

I've done lots of searching but no results.

Can anyone help me please?

I had one from Jigsaw a couple of years ago that sounds similar. Try them?

Also Barbour and Belstaff do things like this, I think (I don't know for sure as they're too expensive for me!)

Good luck.

Orangeanddemons · 12/10/2015 17:41

is this the sort of thing?

Orangeanddemons · 12/10/2015 17:43

or this?

lasermum · 12/10/2015 17:47

Landsend are great for this type of jacket/fleece/coat

CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 17:50

Thanks Orange - no it wasn't a soft shell jacket.

Maybe by comparing it to neoprene, I've given the wrong impression. It was a material that was like material - ie. flexible in the way that cotton is and not "crunchy" in the way that soft shell stuff it.

It has that material quality that makes it look very expensive - like a very good quality and fine cotton jersey rib - but thicker. The overall effect is an indoor jacket not outwear - if you see what I mean. Soft shell stuff is very outer wear.

It just looked (in its hay day!) smart. I can't find anything the same to show you.

Lasermum

I find that the landsend fleeces are just that - fleeces.

I don't want a coat/outwear that is fleece lined. And I don't want a fleece.

I'm looking for more for a pull on jacket (equivalent use of a cardigan/fleece) for indoor wear.

I know this is near impossible btw!! It's not like I haven't looked myself before asking for help.

Ah, I didn't realise you wanted it for indoors. Mine was definitely for outdoors, but smart/padded/fleecy.

I don't think I can help with the indoor one because I don't really know what you mean, sorry.

museumum · 12/10/2015 17:55

Try looking through the smarter north face stuff but I think what you describe is more likely to be sold in a spring range not at this time of year.

CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 17:58

The outer material look was more like this:

www.net-a-porter.com/gb/en/product/609548

which is apparently:

50% polyester, 50% polyurethane; fabric2: 85% cotton, 15% polyamide;

I think it is the fact that is wasn't fleece or fleece type material outside that made it so unusually smart looking.

Needle. Haystack.

Or kind of like this in terms of smart look but fleece lined. (not quite like this but you get the idea - the previous link I posted is closer)

If this didn't have a hood and addidas all over the back - this would be perfect:

www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=68138&vid=1&pid=000113633000 not sure how smart you'd call this but an idea?

CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 18:25

Thanks Carrie74

This is very much the type of exterior look I am after but no fleece lining! The other ones all have hoods.

I'm tossing up getting the stella mcartney one on matches and taking it to an alterations place to get the hood removed. But that seems a bit unsatisfactory for something that costs £140!

I suspected this was a hopeless cause.

It's either smart outside and no fleece lining OR fleece inside and scruffy/casual/overly outdoors outside look

Sigh.

How about Bench knitwear? I have a fleece lined hoodie I love but they have hood free too

IvyWall · 12/10/2015 18:35

Bench not bunch

CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 18:39

Ooh - that's very nice Ivy . I do want black but I will investigate Bench - never heard of them before. Thanks Kanye for Bench suggestion too.

Jack Wolfskin may have something, but think they're all slightly missing the mark (there are 2 pages of results):

CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 18:44

Hoods abound!

OP posts:
CheersMedea · 12/10/2015 18:46

The jack wolfskin are too "fleecy" exterior. Thanks everyone whose replied - sorry if I've missed anyone.
