Yay the hamster lives. That was some vacation MI, I mean, for a hamster!Hmm Several human days must amount to aeons in hamster days...

Cresset , you're awfully nice to say we're a decent lot. I have to agree there.Grin

Yes to Club Sandwich, surely the Crepey logo. And yes I feel desperately squashed from all sides right now. I'm sure I had a holiday recently but the feeling has long gone . Can we book that Crepey villa soon? Can't believe the clocks change this weekend. Meh!
Night night

MontserratCaballe · 21/10/2015 05:38

Morning, Crepeys!

So glad hammy lives on. What an adventure for him! And amazing that the cat didn't fancy a bite...

Hope the sickies are feeling better and that the stressed out are feeling calmer Smile

Have been up worrying since 4.30. Most unlike me. Am stressed off my tits with work and school applications. Have submitted form, but realised that I forgot to submit my scholarship form in time for K. Will have to phone and grovel today to see if can submit it late but I suspect not. It's slightly academic as we have put K second in favour of S but poor old DD1 has had a Pauline conversion in terms of piano practice just so she can have a go at the audition and now she might not have the chance.

I feel terrible. I tried to juggle and keep all my balls in the air, but now it looks like I have dropped a really important one. Gutted Sad.

Am going to have a shower and try not to wake everyone up. DH taking the children to school so I can go in early. Feel like resigning TBH.

Hope everyone has a good day Smile

motherinferior · 21/10/2015 07:12

Monty, hang on in there.

I have to take students to crown court today which is making me nervous. Awoke to patter of rain so no Ladyjog.

NUFC69 · 21/10/2015 07:36

Glad to hear that the hamster made it safely back to his cage, MI - what a relief all round. Sorry about your problems, Monty. Fingers crossed for you, Stropps. How are you doing, Crem?

What stupid comment did I make about the ether and colds - I seem to be starting another one, just ten or so days after the last one cleared up. Sore throat overnight and apart from you lot I haven't been in contact with anyone who has a cold. Grin

Off for a swim shortly and then prep for my charity meeting tomorrow, was desperately looking forward to a quiet time next week then realised that it's half term so we're stepping up to the plate with DGS1.

When do you go to NY, BTM?

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2015 07:40

Herbs, I couldn't view your link as my PC deemed it as potentially dangerous!

Monty, give it a go - you never know! And chin-upSmile

Stropps, that sounds very positive - fingers crossed!

Had a nice evening out with friends, but found it even harder to dig myself out of bed this morning. Got a meeting this morning, which will be tricky, then some training, then DS's Parents Eve. Then a very early night.
Unless DD is expecting me to pick them up from the gig they are going toHmm

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2015 08:01

Very early Sunday morning, NU - very excitedSmile Has anyone got any last min NYC tips for me?

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/10/2015 08:24

BTM - shop till you drop. Grin I love Lord and Taylor, find Macy's overwhelming. Go to some of the museums, the Lower East Side Tenement museum us good, although possibly a bit too interactive for us Brits. I always go to the Jewish museum, which is a bit of a schlep up the Upper East Side, but a great museum. All the usual tourist things. The circle line boat trip is good, particularly if the weather is nice.

My cold has now moved to my chest, so the phlegm is rattling about there instead of in my head.

You all have very interesting families. Mine are drunks and gamblers - one of my great uncles lost the family house through gambling and moved his family in with my grandparents for several years. One interesting point in mine was that my grandfather's twin brother was sent to Australia with his Aunt, for good, at the age of 5, but the family kept my grandfather and his elder and younger siblings - this seems very odd to me, and no-one seems to know why, or be very interested.

cressetmama · 21/10/2015 08:26

Hope all are recovering well from the various ailments, and rising above the stress storm.

Happy to know that felines and rodents can achieve detente; fairly sure it would be impossible to convince my dog that anything small should be treated with courtesy and respect left alone.

cressetmama · 21/10/2015 08:30

Envy for BTM. It is such a long time since I was in NYC and I loved it so much. And this is the perfect time of year, not too hot nor too cold and everything gearing up to party season.

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2015 08:39

Thanks MrsS - I was a bit Shock when my friend explained to me how big Macy's is - I find Selfridges quite daunting! Will google Lord and Taylor. Not sure how much time we will have for museums as we have a shortlist of must-do's and then shopping. Hope I've got the energy!
Cresset, the weather forecast was fabulous a couple of weeks ago. Now it is clouds and showers - like hereSad

motherinferior · 21/10/2015 08:45

MrsS, that is a novel plot, surely?

Cat now resumed prowling by hamster cage. Perhaps he just likes the company?Smile

hattymattie · 21/10/2015 09:17

Very quick catch up as DH has ruined my morning by working from home in the the middle of the living room. How can I do anything useful without the radio on?

Glad - hamster has reappeared and Grin at bonkers relatives - I'm going to have to do some digging when I see my DM as my family seem disappointingly boring.

We have half term here - and DS has still not woken at 10.15 am - I am supposed to be taking him shopping for shoes as he cannot pass the winter in converse.

Herbs - those shoes made me laugh - just checking - they were a joke weren't they? Wink.

Have friend in Germany who has been dumped by email by her DP. All sounds a bit bizarre. She says she is too upset to phone and talk - I have recommended the Relationship boards on trusty old Mumsnet.

Blackduck · 21/10/2015 10:47

Hello all.
Rose so sorry re DDad and DNR - wishing you much strength...

Cremo I can recommend this sign off lark but understand if you need to be around. Understand re people leaving too. A lot of us feel that those who got out are probably in a much better position than we are.
Auriga that all sounds very stressful.
MrsS hope job is going well - cold not withstanding.

Here Tuesday was walk over hill, mooch round JL, and waaaay too much wine with very old friend. Feeling a tad delicate this morning.

Rosebag · 21/10/2015 13:11

Bd that sounds very healing to me. Just what your leave is meant for.

Tilly if you shop just over the state line in New Jersey there's no sales tax on clothing. At least that was the case when I was last there. Smile

Hooray for the return of the prodigal hamster. And for stropps improving work outlook.

cresset you are very nice about us! Glad you're here to stay. Where are the other newbies?

Aren't all relatives bonkers in one way or another? We certainly have had our fair share of gamblers, drinkers and unknown-about children crawling out of the woodwork. However in DMs generation all this was covered up saying "we don't talk about her/him" The first of her generation to get divorced was known as "Ex Auntie Mildred," spoken with a cats bum face. Grin

Oh monty you poor thing. I will text you back soon. I hope it'll sort out. Breathe, breathe....

I have taken DM out for breakfast today...what a time to try and celebrate her birthday. She did seem to enjoy it though but kept looking at her watch and all conversation led back to DDad of course. She just texted me that the Rabbi visited DDad at the home and DDad responded "appropriately" whatever that means. I texted back that if the rabbi visited me in hospital I would pretend to be asleep..... Grin

In other news I have spent the rest of the morning in a fruitless search for a chain link belt, 70s style for the party at the weekend. Will try Amazon.

herbaceous · 21/10/2015 13:30

The shoes were no joke, you bunch of heathens. I'm going to buy them now, just to spite you all.

Another day another voluntary opportunity. This time in year 2. 24 of the class have English as a second language!

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2015 15:53

Herbs, I amSad because I couldn't see them.
And that sounds like a challenge!

herbaceous · 21/10/2015 16:02

Just for you, BTM.

Crepe Fear!
bigTillyMint · 21/10/2015 16:30

Grin How are you going to style your outfit with them Herbs?

herbaceous · 21/10/2015 16:49

Everything else would have to be pretty plain, I realised. Skinny jeans, plain jumper. Or black opaque tights, dark denim skirt, white top. Summat like that.

They also come in black with just a shiny toe...

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2015 17:00

Yes, I think plain would be good. QQQ is an animal print expert - do they count as animal print?

cressetmama · 21/10/2015 17:15

I like 'em Herbs. But the white toe would very quickly turn a shade of sludge in the mud around here.

BeachysFlipFlops · 21/10/2015 17:15

I think they count as a Whole Animal Smile

herbaceous · 21/10/2015 17:18

I think the toe is 'duck egg blue'. But they would stay 'for best', and for the dry, as the pavement sludge round here would ruin them.

I probably won't get them, just fantasising...

Bought a couple more wardrobe staples in sains today - some petrol blue wide-leg trews, and a kind of animal print knitted dress that's nicer than it sounds!

herbaceous · 21/10/2015 17:20

Trews Though they drag on the floor on me...

Wooly frock

Now just have to sneak them into the wardrobe without DP noticing.

cressetmama · 21/10/2015 17:39

Ooooh, duck egg blue toes... sounds divine. Sadly I already have a surfeit of unsuitable shoes and live mostly in Wellies, hiking boots, trainers and ancient clogs. But one day, some day, the time will come when I need them!
