Wedding dress help.

I'm helping a friend find a wedding dress, and we've come to a bit of a dead end.

All she knows is she wants it to be long, and go in at the waist. However, she also has a budget of £200, which rules out most bridal shops.

Luckily, she's not fussy and is willing to consider cream bridesmaid dresses and maxi dresses and anything along those lines, doesn't need to be a full on wedding dress.

We're checking shops like Debenhams, ASOS, BHS, Coast, but we've probably forgotten some obvious ones. Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

It's difficult without knowing her shape/size /height etc but I'm just adding a few!

If she likes jive style swing dresses, cheap and cheerful, try LindyBop. In white or cream, lace, damask. So cheap if she doesn't like them she's still got money. Monsoon sometimes do good stuff.

BikeRunSki · 04/10/2015 22:20

I was going to say Phase 8.

MrsFionaCharming · 04/10/2015 22:22

Some of those Phase 8 ones are gorgeous! We might have to keep an eye and hope for further reductions.

It's a no to swing dresses, she definitely wants long.

There's a pretty short monsoon dress in the sales ( ends shortly) called Anya.

Some of the bhs ones are in the sale.

House of Fraser, £150. Sigh. Gorgeous!

What size? Would she consider second hand?

noisytoys · 04/10/2015 22:46

It's worth a look on eBay. I had a similar budget so looked on there and ordered listings closest to home - I bought an ex window display from a bridal boutique BNWT for £89 rather than the RRP of £1400!

MrsFionaCharming · 04/10/2015 22:50

She's not looking at second hand yet, she'd rather get 1st hand if possible.

We're also a bit worried about ebay, because the budget is so tight. If it's no good, it might not be returnable and there wouldn't be any money left!

LettuceLaughton · 04/10/2015 23:31

Monsoon do wedding dresses

superbfairywren · 05/10/2015 08:57

Coast wedding dresses are normally really good quality for the money.

When I had a complete and utter wedding dress meltdown less than 3 weeks before the wedding the girls here were fantastic.

They found me a dress. An Eliza J. It had been £140 and I paid £39 . It was a short one. We had a beach wedding. I felt lovely in it.

Here it is at the very top of the page and the material was actually prettier than depicted . Is there anything here

An Eliza j

What I like about their dresses is they are beautifully made and buying from the Internet often they haven't been tried on. I got a 20 as I needed a bit more in the waist according to their sizes and had it altered to fit. I'm normally a14-16

Dowser · 05/10/2015 09:13

Oh. Here's mine. It says white but was actually off white with tiny gold thread running through it.

I love some of these dresses, sadly she's unconvinced so far.

She's now looking for bridesmaids dresses too. Can anyone recommend a site where you can buy those dresses that can be worn multiple ways? Or ones where you pick a colour, but each bridesmaid can choose her own style?
