I really like it but fear it may be a little Riverdance=y

You are right.. Reminds me of Bewitched! Sorry

southeastastra · 18/09/2015 21:50

ooh it's very riverdancey but in a nice way, if you could pull it off

MuchasSmoochas · 18/09/2015 21:51

Hhm I could see someone like Pearl Lowe looking good in it.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 18/09/2015 21:51

I like it too but I wouldn't buy it for exactly that reason!
There is just a little too much embroidery for me.

ginmakesitallok · 18/09/2015 21:52

DP says its fucking horrible and very riverdancy. I agree

Awks · 18/09/2015 21:54

B*Witched or Bewitched? There's a massive difference ha ha.

I've ordered it but Pearl Lowe I'm not so it will prob be going back. Am off for a weekend away with friends to see an amazing new band Duran Duran and thought I'd buy a new frock. Never mind, maybe it will look lovely.

It's the sort of thing I wore in about 1987, with a Wayne Hussey-esque hat and DMs. I like it a lot, but I wouldn't wear it now. If you're 25 or less, and a size 10 or less, with small norks and a quirky style, I think it's perfect.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 18/09/2015 21:55

It depends what your style is like. I have friends with dark hair who would get away with it because of their style.I would probably like it on them. I don't like it like that and it's really a hit or a miss if someone could pull it off. Too fashion victimy for me.

NotTodaySatan · 18/09/2015 21:55

Like the concept but not the execution.

The embroidery is a bit wrong and there's too much green. Ends up looking a bit weird.

southeastastra · 18/09/2015 21:55

you can never tell with topshop dresses, you really need to try them on. still i think it's good, different

Awks · 18/09/2015 21:56

Ta for your dp's advice Gin though as he's unlikely to be Tom Ford I prob will ignore him Grin and hope for the best

I used to have a blouse/shirt thing like that in the early 90s. I wore it once. Some boys shouted, "Yeee-ha" at me and asked me where my horse was.
The shirt languished in the wardrobe for 15 years until I Ebayed it and it was bought by a delighted line dancer for competition wear.
Sorry.

DaftSkunk · 18/09/2015 21:57

I really like it.

Awks · 18/09/2015 21:58

Too fashion victimy? I'm off to see Duran Duran and I'm 50. I absolutely cant be a fashion victim, I'm too old, I just liked it but it's rapidly losing its allure :)

You lot just wait when I'm in the Stylehunter bit in Grazia in my riverdance frock :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/09/2015 22:00

If you like it and like the way it looks on you, then that's all that really matters.

southeastastra · 18/09/2015 22:00

it's not fashion victimy whatever that it. are duran duran touring again? not that i was a fan i was way too cool to be a duranie Grin

NotTodaySatan · 18/09/2015 22:00

It actually reminds me a bit of a dress I bought from Topshop earlier this year that looked similarly quirky and very 'me' on the site but in real life was a shapeless weird looking sack. I do love a bit of embroidery.

Is this a nice Dress?
ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 18/09/2015 22:00

Oh...what will you wear it with?

Twinklestein · 18/09/2015 22:00

I like it, it's got a peasant chic vibe, which is very now, and looks quite Anthropologie.

It reminds me of a dress my mum had in the 70s.

Primadonnagirl · 18/09/2015 22:01

B Witched! Yes I knew there was a somewhere . But anyway you are forgiven because I too worship at the altar that is Duran Duran.

southeastastra · 18/09/2015 22:01

look at them \link{http://images.popmatters.com/misc_art/b/book-beautifulcolors-duranduran-650-1.jpg\here} i think they look quite cool

southeastastra · 18/09/2015 22:02

(apart from nick rhodes (?) on the right) Grin

Primadonnagirl · 18/09/2015 22:03

they are still gods in my opinion ... I've not aged that well either!
