Rudy Grin - I'm on standby.

How are you doing GGG? Or should I say how is DS doing. DD1 is quite good at checking in at random times on FB Messenger.

BeachysFlipFlops · 06/10/2015 18:58

How temporary is temporary? Three hours, two days, all week??

hattymattie · 06/10/2015 18:58

By the way - Mrs S - made your bean thing and it was good but couldn't really taste the peanut butter - should I be able to or should it just blend in with the other flavours?

herbaceous · 06/10/2015 19:00

No rudy! That's no fun at all, and will cause you psychological damage. Best to let it all out.

Re Portuguese delicacies, sadly for my arse a Portuguese deli has opened practically next to the school. Sells delicious and cheap coffee, and naturally a wide selection of custard-based items.

S diet has had further slip ups. DP suggested we finish off the weekend's wine, and I am very Suggestible. Then I tried a bit of DS's cake from his party.

bigTillyMint · 06/10/2015 19:02

I agree with Herbs, Rudy - far better to let it all out!

Lalsy · 06/10/2015 19:26

Finishing off leftovers is Selfless.

BeachysFlipFlops · 06/10/2015 20:00

You see, exactly an hour later and one episode of Dr Foster down..... Excellent, very gripping. Unfortunately, I spotted one of the more scary mothers from school at my station and I had to do a stealth ninja creep onto the train so I could enjoy Dr Foster without nitter natter.....

How hard would those Portuguese tarts be to make, do you think?

herbaceous · 06/10/2015 20:06

Easy. I've found a number of recipes! Ready-made puff pastry, eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and cornflour for the filling. 30 mins in the oven. Eat. All at once.

Dearie me, there goes the neighbourhood. One minute it's all flat whites and macha lattes, and the next it's running battles with the police!

bigTillyMint · 06/10/2015 21:03

I think they made them on Bake off?

Rudy, are you still there?!

DD wants me to do some fancy plaiting on her hair. Again. I am no good at it and she has not brushed her hair which is the tangliest hair in the world Confused

Rest of this month ShockShock it's only the 6th....

Strength to you Rudy Wine

herbaceous · 06/10/2015 22:08

A whole month, with family. I would need to develop a heroin habit to take my mind off it.

Lalsy · 06/10/2015 22:14

Emigrate, Rudy.

CointreauVersial · 06/10/2015 23:10

Rudy, I feel your pain. DH's family are just the same. When they come and stay with us, the first we hear about it is a phone call announcing that flights are booked, and that they will be arriving at airport X on date Y, and could we please pick them up... inevitably we have some important/immovable social engagement which coincides with their visit. Simple questions like "will you be here for dinner - do I need to cater for you?" go unanswered, and they simply assume that DH will be able to take time off work and drive them around the country for days at a time. Angry

Herbs, there is a recipe for Portuguese custard tarts in Jamie's 30 min meals book. Might enable you to get a custard fix more quickly.

Rudy, that sounds stressful. A month en famille with non communicators would finish me off. I hate it when people think one can drop everything and leap into action. My MIL often talks about coming to town to have lunch on a Wednesday and then is miffed that I will be at work and unable to join her. WTF.

BD, it is Wednesday now and so only 2 more days before you can get to the GP. I hope they pass as quickly as possible and that you can get to see someone sensible who understands how you are feeling and signs you off for a few weeks. This has been going on for months and the stress levels must be intolerable. Not long now my lovely. Hang on in there Flowers.

Crem, I am rooting for you too and sending you Flowers and positive thoughts across the water.

DH got up at 5 to go to Scotland with work. I have been up since then, twitching gently about the day. Soooooooooooo much to do. I have been emailing various people about beaver drop offs and drama pick ups which will take place whilst I am working late. I sent them yesterday but no one has replied so I am assuming they didn't arrive, otherwise I will look like mad hassling mother. Must look slightly mad anyway to be sending emails so early. Still, if the cap fits.....

Hope everyone has a good day.

bigTillyMint · 07/10/2015 06:53

I just had my first crepey dream! Monty, I dreamed that we bumped into each other in a spa, and then had to pretend that we didn't know each otherGrin

RudyWineWineWine A weekend is more than enough for me!

Blackduck · 07/10/2015 07:10

God Rudy... . I can stand two days and I'm taking the dog for looooong walks. There is a plan for a long weekend with all of dps family to celebrate various significant birthdays - I have told him to find the biggest house he can.....

MC thanks for your wishes - unfortunately I will have to stagger to official appointment next Friday as I need to be in this Friday - last day for my team member who is being masses redundant. Next week is hell on wheels (wall to walk meetings = no actual working getting done)

On a positive note I am pretty sure my team member will get a job offer today - she had an interview yesterday and I was asked to supply a reference yesterday afternoon.... There is light at the end of the tunnel (or is it an on-coming train)
Cremo - you okay??

Rosebag · 07/10/2015 07:19

Is it possible that one's family can all go off in the morning, saying "have a good day"... completely oblivious to the fact that one has been up all night, ill and has been assailed by a vile debilitating virus?

Is it possible to feel so awful and have no one notice anything?

Believe me…it is.

Will catch up later. Brew

Blackduck · 07/10/2015 07:22

Oh Rose. :(.
Hope you feel better soon.

motherinferior · 07/10/2015 08:23

Oh Rose, thou art sick?

Get well soon. Blakean hugs (without infectious potential obvs) from se6. Off to put stuff on memory sticks/ Dropbox and go to teach...

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/10/2015 08:31

Rose, yes, yes, it's perfectly possible if you are the woman of the house. And when you come home, someone will say "Have you been lying on that bed/sofa all day? Have you not actually done anything today? And where's dinner?"

Go back to bed, and hope you feel better soon.

I have a huge pile of admin, largely school and bank related. And if DH says once more "What have we done about...?" I will stab him.

bigTillyMint · 07/10/2015 08:37

Fuck em, Rose!

MrsS I am on my way to a meeting in your ends, but way too early - looking for a decent cafe ...
