Me too. I made some really horrible, healthy flapjacks last week and I think that has scared everyone. Everything I have made since has been eaten in respectful silence. Would you like the recipe, MrsS Grin?

Definitely about the red lippie on MI and GGG, fab. I thought everyone looked great and am hoping I won't be ejected from crepeyland as I have ordered some Land's End shoes. Also browsing DMs, Beachy.

Also bushed here.

BeachysFlipFlops · 27/09/2015 21:53

I'm in bed, raring to go for another week at work! Just happened to mention that I was a bit tired to dh and his response was 'well, you were out on the piss last night!' Not really the sympathy I was looking for.

Still I walked the downs today with crazy, pulling dog, nice dog, old dad, moany dd and not content with that, took moany dd to Southampton to change all the hideous clothes mil got her for her birthday! So no wonder I'm knackered Smile

Back to Bankside tomorrow for my standard Monday night sleepover.... It will be a quieter affair!

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/09/2015 22:16

Lalsy, no thank you. I think that someone who eats Dull Muesli (oats and other grains and seeds, no lovely nuts or raisins or coconut) and could live on tuna, brown rice and lettuce might enjoy flapjacks like that. Grin

Mrs S - 0600 alarm at the weekend would be grounds for divorce here.

Mine are also moaning about food. One is fed up with pasta and the other doesnt like potatoes. I have threatened them with rice and cous cous which did not go down well. I was vaguely huffy and said I was not a restaurant.
White trash cooking sounds good.

Blackduck · 28/09/2015 07:57

Sthat alarm is unreasonable.....

I am in bed full of cold and with a migraine. I think the stress is making itself felt.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/09/2015 08:01

White Trash Cooking has "recipes" such as "Add a handful of salted peanuts to a can of Coke. A tasty treat for the children after school." (Although it sounds like it might be good for a hangover.)

He likes to sleep through the alarm at the weekend - to hear it, know he doesn't need to get up, and goes back to sleep. Unfortunately I can't do that.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/09/2015 08:02

Ugh, BD, that is crap. I hope you're going to stay there for the rest of the day?

Stropperella · 28/09/2015 08:26

MrsS, I used to have a husband who liked to do the 6am alarm thing at the weekend. I divorced him. Grin

Stropperella · 28/09/2015 08:27

Yes, BD, hope you are staying in bed.

Auriga · 28/09/2015 09:09

BD you're the one who needs the Coke - the full fat type, with three soluble aspirin. Amazingly effective.

Rosebag · 28/09/2015 09:12

I could not be responsible for my actions if someone put the alarm on when we didn't need it...a potential use of the butchers knife I keep under the bed.... Grin I have even come close to killing DS2 when he presses the snooze button too many times on a normal school day Fgs. MrsS you can't tolerate that....and just a reminder...do not cook for the troops on weekend evenings. Do not, I say. not not not.

Red lippie looks great on you MI And also the other Crepeys who wear it with pride, GGG and herbs too. I have to admit as my skin has got paler I need to blot mine a bit more, if I'm doing the red lip look, I sometimes put a little pink over it which seems to soften it a bit otherwise I look like Morticia Adams.

Visit to DDad in the home yesterday...he wasn't good., so DM wasn't good either. Spent the rest of the day trying to get over it and trying to oversee homework. Not much joy there. Better afternoon with walk in the sun and a scone at the tea shop. (Comfort eating, anyone?) Lots of underlying tensions at home though.

Got a bit of theatrical teaching today...for which I actually get paid. hopefully will take my mind off things.

Rosebag · 28/09/2015 09:13

Wish you better BD . Here the DC are sneezing ominously.

Blackduck · 28/09/2015 09:24

Normally I'd dose up and struggle in....
Forget normally - I am in bed with DS supplying tea (he's full of cold).
Will dress in a bit to walk the dog.

magimedi · 28/09/2015 09:38

Pleased to hear the meet up was good.

Sorry to hear about migraine & cold, BD. I'd second full fat coke as well.

So upsetting, Rose, and don't blame you for a bit of calorie comfort.

6am alarm with no reason & it would be divorce as far as I was concerned.

Off to see PFGD on Wednesday so lots of washing etc going on here. Having to take virtually whole wardrobe as it could be hot but it could be cold (they live in the mountains).

herbaceous · 28/09/2015 09:47

I'm having a very satisfying fantasy of Mrs S's DH's beloved alarm clock going off at six, him smiling and turning over to go to sleep, and Mrs S smashing the infernal device to dust with a hammer, Stropps Bin style. Then turning over and going back to sleep.

Cremo · 28/09/2015 11:19

Och BD you poor soul. Take it easy today and hopefully a bit of a fresh breeze will help during dog walk.

6am alarm on a Sunday. Holy cow, I'd be furious and not speak to Dh for days. Not that he'd notice. He did once decide to wear a heart monitor in bed that squeaked if his heart rate went up at any stage. Well you can imagine the obvious conclusion to that little scenario. I went 'on strike' for a long long time causing his heart rate to stay magically undisturbed. Twit.

Off today, but cleaner due any moment , and Im going to have to man up and give her the sack. Dread! Still her inability to actually see dust is extraordinary. There are even sweepings under the hall rug. Will give her til Christmas and then make a fresh start in the new year. Eek.Hmm

Cremo · 28/09/2015 11:24

Btw, I spoke to lots of you on Saturday who expressed frustration with the weekday meal boredom/fury.
Maybe we could shares few ideas to get us all out of a rut. Just an idea. I know if I have to make another lentil based shepherds pie I will expire.

herbaceous · 28/09/2015 11:29

Alternative alarm clock scenarios 1) Mrs S arises and throws clock out of the window. Then gets back into bed. 2) Makes it into a meal and feeds it to DH, foie gras goose style.

magimedi · 28/09/2015 11:40

When DC were at home & weekday meals became a nightmare I had an 11 day menu that I would run for ages - because it was 11 days no one ever twigged, as it was never Monday = cottage pie etc etc. And I put all the stuff that was liked on it. Saved me a lot of time & energy!

herbaceous · 28/09/2015 11:50

My mum used to have a list on the inside of a cupboard door of faithful staples. I must say, though, I don't remember ever moaning about what was on offer. I would have got short shrift.

I even didn't complain when she dropped the pyrex dish full of macaroni cheese on the floor, and it smashed. She proceeded to serve the macaroni cheese, saying 'watch out for the broken glass'!

Cremo · 28/09/2015 12:18

Grinherbs
Macaroni a la broken glass. Delish.

Rosebag · 28/09/2015 12:18

MIL did that once with a trifle Herbs and proceeded to serve the DC who were very little at the time. I put a stop to it and I was not popular, even though I had just picked out a shard from the baby's mouth….

I have nightmare eaters at this end who, variously, don't like all sorts of staples hence my weekday cooking is unbelievably boring because the subset of dishes that everyone likes is so small. Best options are Shepherds Pie and baked beans, Fish pie but have to serve the veg separately as one or other of them will complain, fish finger sandwiches, boring pasta, boring risotto, meatball stew or chicken stew…do it in a pressure cooker, spag bol, mushroom stroganoff (DS wont eat),dippy egg and soldiers (yes, I get that desperate), burgers, any soup, meatloaf, falafel in pitta with houmous and salad, turkey schnitzels (sometimes homemade..often from a packet…) ,cheese or spinach boreks. They universally love their roasts of course but you can't do that every night, can you?

motherinferior · 28/09/2015 14:03

I have tendencies towards the fortnight rota too. Which isn't that many damn meals as I only have to dish up in the week and not all of that - but is wearing. I may wimp out completely with Bought Fishcakes tonight.
