Anything but the C-word!

OP posts:
Cremo · 24/09/2015 10:51

I know Hattie, my expectations do not match RL.
I will probably get a card and a modest gift token for Monsoon. (Dhs default)Grin

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2015 10:59

I love cashmere jumpers, but so do the moths round here!

My special 50th present is my trip to NYC in 4 weeks (only waited a yearGrin)
Plus I bought that Marc Jacobs bag with the vouchers my friends gave me!

You can always dream, Cremo. Or drop heavy hints. Or just tell him what you want (which is our default!)

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 11:22

Tragically, I am rather drawn to getting a lovely wool dressing gown. Perhaps like this.

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2015 11:52

Lovely dressing gowns, but OMG, £££! Still, it is your special birthday present!

Blackduck · 24/09/2015 11:56

50th... hmm... I got.......

ah yes, that's right...

Nothing (to be fair neither did he....made up for it following year)

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 11:57

An alternative. But even more £££!

I've love a really gorgeous cashmere jumper, but it would last a fortnight in my moth palace.

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2015 12:57

Herbs, I have had wool skirts eaten by moths - they might like a woolly dressing gown too?

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 13:05

V true, BTM. What I'd really like is one of those silk ones, with a quilted lining and with a tassled tie belt.

Right. Enough about my potential dressing gowns. And my interview. I shall now endeavour to talk about one of you lot for a change.

magimedi · 24/09/2015 13:12

About 12 years ago I treated myself to a really lovely thick fleece dressing gown. It was about £65 (as far as I remember), which at the time was a hell of a lot of ££ to me. I have never regretted the purchase, still wear it all winter (& summer, this year Grin ) & really love it.

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 13:16

I have an aged fleece dressing gown from Knickerbox (yes, it's that old). It has embroidery and beads on it. I wear it all the time, and love it, but it has a big hole in the arse, and DP is always threatening to burn it on a fire.

Rosebag · 24/09/2015 13:26

Molly I don't like the sound of that physio story, although I suspect she'd be mortified if she realised the anxiety her words and actions had caused. Can you ask for a change? I do think it's good to have another person at appointments…people aren't always as grown up in clinical situation as in other walks of life are they? We're vulnerable in hospitals and clinics even if were not there for a really bad reason. Flowers

Nice news on the professional front Herbs and Stropps.

We were well this summer but we have had trips when illness struck and each time I swear I won't travel again Hmm

I'm useless at suggestions of covetable presents. I always see what I want away from birthday time and then forget all about it. Having my engagement ring remodelled into a more flattering and contemporary design was a nice thing, although I always got the feeling DH was a bit hurt about it. Confused Love, love, love Swarovski crystals, especially their bangles. I'm not an expensive bag person, and I'm worried to buy cashmere as most natural wool makes me itch like buggery. I'm a cheap date. Grin

A certain thesp has added me on FB Grin Blush

Stropperella · 24/09/2015 13:40

Herbs, please, please carry on posting in this vein. You have just made me LOL with the description of your old dressing gown. I am somehow particularly taken with the image of your dp creeping out to the garden with your holey dressing gown and a box of matches. Grin

Rose Grin

One of dd's rather more colourful (in the most literal sense) friends added me on FB over the summer. He is doing London Fashion Week and has managed to get his pic taken rather a lot, bless him. I am a bit sad that he has gone to uni, as he was a good influence on dd.

CointreauVersial · 24/09/2015 13:43

No injuries at Chateau Cointreau for quite some time. Apart from broken hearts......

Herbs - re: handwriting, DS also struggled, and was at the point where they were suggesting transcribers for his exams. What really helped him were these pens. You can get them anywhere (WHS, Amazon etc).

50th present - for me, it will probably be jewellery. Something modern, preferably encrusted with some sort of expensive gemstone..... Or a painting? Certainly nothing the moths can eat.

motherinferior · 24/09/2015 13:48

I got an addition to my Chanel 19 stash for my 50th Confused. DP isn't great on presents for birthdays - though he is very generous and has oddly enough bought me some really lovely jewellery at times. My problem with dressing-gowns is that I am a Notorious Shortarse and they drag on the ground.

I bought a fab, I'm sure new, cashmere jumper in our local chazza for £3.50 the other day. And have another, bought with tags on a while back, huge grey men's V-neck, down to £9 (from £99), which has shrunk slightly and DD1 wears all the time.

magimedi · 24/09/2015 14:08

DH gave me this bag for my 60th - it is great as you can turn it into half the size with a nifty zip. He knows I love pliage bags.

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 14:14

I've been looking at the Outnet, and am now coveting another little VW something. A jacket would be useful for years, would it not? Though could be a little outré in the East End classroom.

motherinferior · 24/09/2015 14:20

HERBS
DO NOT GET ANOTHER COAT
YOU ALREADY HAVE 1,001 COATS
DO YOU HEAR ME?????

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 14:28

Not that sort of coat, MI! The sort of 'little jacket' one slips on over a dress for meetings or interviews. Or weddings.

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2015 14:34

Grin Herbs, you have an excuse for every coat/jacket Grin

motherinferior · 24/09/2015 14:40

Wot BTM said Grin

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 14:51

I do! As ever, I'm imagining my potential VW number to replace a few shitty old ones.

Though I would like on record that I have now sold four coats, and only bought one. Soon I will be at danger level, triggering a jacket crisis.

herbaceous · 24/09/2015 14:53

Mmmmmmm. Jacket

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2015 15:02

Herbs, you are making me ROFL! Good reduction on the jacket!

motherinferior · 24/09/2015 15:28

Crepey, Clarks has a discount of 20 per cent for the next few days. BGR8 online. Or there's a token.

Lalsy · 24/09/2015 15:38

Herbs, please carry on, on luxury dressing gowns and other matters. Is cheering me hugely. I have tried on loads of shoes and can report that none of them are nearly as comfy as clown trainers so am grumpy and dispirited.

CV, those pens were the business for dd too.
