Boden: coming to a high street near you!

I read the financial pages so you don't have to :)

Yesterday's Guardian reports that Boden are in a massive upswing just now, with profits ever rising.

They have plans to open high street stores in the UK as part of their expansion but are currently v tight lipped about location.

I'm in Edinburgh and I'm pretty certain they'll open here. Anybody else living in a Bodentastic town? Streets paved with ditsy print etc?

They should have an X Factor style reveal.

'Chester, after a lot of consideration we've decided that you're.........................not quite posh enough for our crazy patterned shizz. It's a no from us I'm afraid'.

JeremyCorbynsVest · 17/09/2015 16:18

DonkeyOaty - where is the posh part of Cardiff?

Squoosh- love the X factor reveal idea Grin

OOAOML · 17/09/2015 16:18

The people talking about demystifying have a point - in a shop it will be very easy to pick out the stuff that looks like it should be natural fibres but is actually polyester.

JeffreysMummyIsCross · 17/09/2015 16:32

Woodley - just what I was thinking. I lived in York during the 90s. It was shit back then for shopping. That awful Debenhams - it must have been the worst in the country (and that's saying something!). Maybe Boden will take that over Grin

NoMoreRenting · 17/09/2015 16:33

Posh bit of Cardiff is near the docks, isn't it?

As for up here in the NW, Chester is posh and ambient for a stylised shop. But there's probably a lot more money the other end of Cheshire so they may opt for Knutsford/Wilmslow. Although, having said that, ECheshire is def mini Boden heaven (and there must be other areas like this) But the mums not so much. Hale is probably much more mums in Boden and kids in mini and it's a trendy high street so I predict Hale.

Oxford is a funny one. People dress really oddly there. I've never quite been able to put my finger in it. But I'm not sure that it's particularly Boden. More Toast, maybe.

AnyoneButAndre · 17/09/2015 17:02

The aspirational clothes shops of Oxford don't necessarily sell to Oxford residents; they sell to the well-to-do Cotswold types when they can't be bothered to shlep into the West End of London.

NoMoreRenting · 17/09/2015 17:11

I know someone with 30yrs experience as a social worker who has worked all over the UK and ranks Oxford as one of the most deprived areas she's ever worked in.

JeffreysMummyIsCross · 17/09/2015 17:46

Oxford is certainly an extreme city - pockets of great affluence and life in a bubble, vs significantly deprived areas.

onlywhenyouleave · 17/09/2015 17:50

I do like Boden but I can guarantee that they will not be opening a shop in my 'delightful' north west town. It is far far removed from your typical Boden customer Grin Grin

thehousewife · 17/09/2015 17:53

Stratford upon Avon, we definitely need one here!!!

bluebump · 17/09/2015 17:55

Yes I think here in Exeter too - there is already Fat Face, White Stuff, White Company, Seasalt, Cath Kidston etc so it will fit in.

JeffreysMummyIsCross · 17/09/2015 17:57

Leamington is probably more Boden than Stratford-upon-Avon is. I'm pretty sure Coventry won't be getting one!

Jojay · 17/09/2015 18:02

I was about to say Stratford and Leamington!

Monica101 · 17/09/2015 18:38

Oh I don't want this to happen. It'll go the way of Jack Wills and go down market and gimmicky.

I bet they'll be one in Durham if it does happen and I will visit it! But it'll really change the brand if it goes to stores I think.

TheBeautifulAndTheDamned · 17/09/2015 18:39

I am near Stratford Upon Avon and I am almost certain we will be close to the top of their target list.

MorrisZapp · 17/09/2015 19:32

I'm imagining Boden shower gel gift sets on three for two in Boots at Christmas :)

I'm surprised they're doing so well - I'm buying much less from them these days. I find the quality has gone down and the prices have remained high. Also there is a preponderance of viscose - they used to use nice natural fibres;
