Help me find shoes for New York

Will be spending a lot of the time in hipster Williamsburg what on earth can I put on my feet that will see me from day to night? I've got new Chelsea boots that I'm slowly breaking in my bunion is screaming.

I've just bought Adidas. It's a bit like wearing slippers. I had a pair on my last trip last May and they were perfect.

I noticed that most New Yorkers wore shoes appropriate for walking and taking the tube - which surprised me, I thought they'd all look like Carrie Bradshaw!

God help me I bloody love my Skechers Go Walks, walked and walked in OZ on hols this summer and they were brilliant... tho we were cuddling koala's not tripping out with the hippsters!

When are you visiting? Right now its 90F during the day but in another month it will drop to the 70s. I wear nice sandals like these:

If coming in a month or so I would just bring shoes that you know are comfortable that you have at home.

Most women were in black trainers or black flat or low heeled boots.

Athleisure is very hip right now. Get some Nike Roshe sneakers in black for day, and get some good brogues or flattish and comfy boots or heels for night.

Whatever you do, do not take your style inspiration from SATC.

Trainers, but please not sketchers they're the trainer equivalent of Mum boots. Adidas shell tops are a classic, New Balance are having a revival.

Yes you can wear tights and sneakers. The look is called 'athleisure'.

I wore these ones with A line skirts and tights last October and looked like a native. Black Huarache
When it rained (and it did torrentially and 2 years before in Hurricane Sandy) everyone was in natty little Hunters.
