Husband says I will look like Prince

I've bought a purple cowl neck dress for a wedding mid-September. I'm worried I will be chilly & wanted a shrug / wrap type thing. Was about to buy a gold shrug and my husband says I will look like Prince.

Gold and purple works doesn't it?! I don't want to spend lots and am struggling to find anything.

I bought one of those shrug things from Amazon once - the cheapness was irresistible. Anyway, they're really scratchy and cheap and nasty - don't buy it. But embrace your inner Prince regardless.

TotalConfucius · 26/08/2015 21:57

Just don't expect a loving Kiss from your DH at the end of the evening.

pictish · 26/08/2015 22:00

I am laughing my head off at looking like Prince. Grin
I wouldn't have made the connection myself, but seeing as he has, I am inclined to agree. The colour scheme is Prince all over.

lorelei9 · 26/08/2015 22:03

If only you'd said that your hubby said

Colour you peach and black, colour me taken aback...crucial....

But still, best title ever. Long may your gold and purple reign....

pictish · 26/08/2015 22:07

Oooh I see what you did there! Very good.

Bragadocia · 26/08/2015 22:07

Have you considered accessorising with something in 'Cream'?

StealthPolarBear · 26/08/2015 22:11

Well, nothing will compare 2 u
(Getting tenuous now)

AlisonWunderland · 26/08/2015 22:12

There are worse people to look like - Prince is very pretty.

He didn't mean Prince Philip, did he?

mrssmith79 · 26/08/2015 22:16

You could top it with a raspberry beret, and some diamonds and pearls...you'll look like a proper sexy MF Grin

I'm so sorry Wine

lorelei9 · 26/08/2015 22:16

Stealth, was that an autocorrect fail?

Always have to ask...it's a Sign O' The Times.

pictish · 26/08/2015 22:19

How about something like this?

Subtle and weddingy.

mewkins · 26/08/2015 22:20

This would be splendid! I would actually LOVE to have someone at my wedding who was dressed like Prince.

Silverturnip · 26/08/2015 22:21

Best title ever Grin giggling away

StealthPolarBear · 26/08/2015 22:23

Don't think so, which bit?

BalloonSlayer · 26/08/2015 22:25

Hope your DH doesn't try to go in through the out door when he sees you Wink

CityBeach · 26/08/2015 22:27

This is a great thread.

I think you should wear it and drop as many Prince song titles into the champagne and canapés chitchat as possible Grin.

CalmYourselfTubbs · 26/08/2015 22:29

who was it who said that Prince looked like he'd been dipped in a bucket of pubic hair?
as long as that isn't your problem, i'd say you'll be fine.
great thread title BTW. made me laugh.

YokoUhOh · 26/08/2015 22:33

If you outshine the bride in your purple attire there'll be some Controversy...

Thanks OP you've made me laugh Grin

YokoUhOh · 26/08/2015 22:35

OP, is this you?

Husband says I will look like Prince
fuctifino · 26/08/2015 22:38

'Nothing compares 2 u' in purple and gold, go for it Smile

lorelei9 · 26/08/2015 22:48

Stealth, I thought it might have been tedious which would have caused Controversy but darn it, someone got that already.

Maybe my skills at this will get Better In Time...

lorelei9 · 26/08/2015 22:50

Sorry I meant. Better With Time. But U Know....

TJH1 · 27/08/2015 07:44

This is the funniest thread ever,I am sure you will have a great time at the wedding, I wish you could take me with u.

squiz81 · 27/08/2015 07:49

hassled thanks for the tip off about the shrug. I did have my suspicions about a £5 piece of knitwear. I'm just being a bit tight about it all. I don't even particularly like shrugs, I just want it to be fitted.

pictish I do already own something like that, I just find pashminas a bit of a faff!

Maybe I will just channel my inner Prince. As long as the band don't ask to me to make a guest appearance in their set.

VirtuosoRidiculoso · 27/08/2015 07:56

The eBay/Amazon shrugs are shit.
I would consider Debenhams/BHS/monsoon

or a lovely shawl/pashmina from Accessorize.
