Hi, I'm going to a verrrrrry fancy wedding next month. I've only been to 2 weddings that were far more casual than this one so don't have a lot of wedding experience.

I've seen this dress and all my friends (who are going) have said its lovely etc.

Then I showed my sister who said she'd kick me out if I turned up to her wedding in it ShockGrin

So..... I'd like some impartial views please, incase me friends are setting me up for a roasting!

Yes. Too bridal.
The back up option is good. Lots of places sell Coast, so theres still hope for finding the top -Debenhams, Hof, Next to name a few.

Chchchchanging · 30/07/2015 23:33

On a phone how do I see the images?

DoTheDuckFace · 31/07/2015 11:03

Oh crop top and skirt would be fine, I was looking on my phone and thought it was a dress.

I like the floral one linked up thread too.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 31/07/2015 11:07

Oh I didn't see the other floral dress, I'm going to take myself into coast to have a try on of a few things.

The crop top and skirt look like they have been long sold out now.

Oooooh I love your first dress. Definitely too bridal. It would make a gorgeous wedding dress though.

But the backup outfit is stunning too!

SuperFlyHigh · 31/07/2015 11:20

i am a bit Hmm re your friends not being able to work out that the first dress is definitely bridal!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 31/07/2015 11:40

I think it's because we don't usually go to fancy weddings etc, we're used to roughing it at music festivals so are probably just excited at the thought of getting dressed up Blush

This was my natural first choice when I first started looking. As I said, I'm quite boho-y and was picturing having my hair where you cross two braids over your head with lots of loose tendrils.

Any thoughts? Apart from if you hate it Grin

That's still a bit bridal-y in my opinion. Personally I think full length dresses on anyone apart from the bride and the bridesmaids looks a bit OTT.

SuperFlyHigh · 31/07/2015 11:51

OP - yeah I can see your point re dressed up.

hmmm this one is nice... the one you just showed.

a friend of mine a few years ago her sister showed up in a black and white floral dress and I was a bit Hmm til someone else here said 'no B&W floral is fine'.

MameHootieBench · 31/07/2015 11:52

The last one is much better. Tendrilly hair fine, just don't do bride ringlets.

And leave your bouquet at home. Grin

SuperFlyHigh · 31/07/2015 11:52

squoosh how is it bridal with the colours?

and full length is fine if that's what you want to wear and it suits you. could rule out maxi dresses then.

squoosh · 31/07/2015 11:55

Because it's a long (mostly) white dress.

squoosh · 31/07/2015 11:59

And I would rule out maxi dresses. As I say I personally think guests looks a bit silly wandering around in full length gowns at 2pm. It's the same when you see photos of people at the races, full length dresses just look out of place.

SuperFlyHigh · 31/07/2015 12:04

can't see it's bride-like at all... if anything it's more alternative BM dress but perfectly fine OP.

otherwise you look like all the other sheep in Coast dresses at a wedding!

squoosh · 31/07/2015 12:08

I'd say Asos dresses are equally as represented at weddings as Coast dresses.

SuperFlyHigh · 31/07/2015 12:12

actually I have no idea but SIL wore a FCUK dress from Asos to a wedding recently.

Moresmores · 31/07/2015 12:12

I think they all look fine Confused I wouldn't have minded anyone wearing any of them to my wedding. Personally I'd only have been put out if you'd turned up in a white meringue with veil but maybe that's just me!!

Glitteryarse · 31/07/2015 12:15

Ah I love your last dress.

It will be really flattering and sounds like your style. I'd buy that myself !

Glitteryarse · 31/07/2015 12:16

Where is it from by the way ? Grin

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 31/07/2015 12:51

I think the long/maxi dress thing is a personal opinion, I wear maxi dresses frequently and feel really comfortable in them, just shown my mil it and she's a fan too.

It's from Asos glitteryarse, it's been out of stock in my size for a while but it's back on today so going to order it, then will have time to send it back if I don't like it.

Going to get some chunky platforms to go with it Grin

It's lush Smile

98percentchocolate · 31/07/2015 12:54

Um op, could you link to the first dress please as I'm actually looking for my own wedding dress and think that would be perfect

Celticlassie · 31/07/2015 12:55

The back up is gorgeous, and I don't think it's too bridesmaid-y at all. Someone might choose to put a bridesmaid in it - but you choose Coast for your BMs at your own risk in that case. (I did!)

Celticlassie · 31/07/2015 12:57

Oops - didn't read Pg 2!

I wouldn't bat an eyelid at guests in maxi dresses - I've seen loads of people wearing them in the last year or two.

Allstoppedup · 31/07/2015 12:57

Haha 98 I was wondering about asking the same thing!

I'm getting married and its very similar to some of the dresses I've seen and liked! Grin
