I'm just coming back to say that as the newest (& possibly oldest) & no degree, crepey I have felt nothing but welcomed here & have never felt ignored, inferior or pushed out.

I enjoy 'chatting' with a group of women who are all articulate & intelligent & I never thought of you as any different, Stropps.

MollyAir · 17/08/2015 19:23

Rudy, that's so funny about your mother. I bet all our mothers would say that, and would place us firmly at the very bottom of the Crepey League. Or in my case, hundreds of leagues under it.

MontserratCaballe · 17/08/2015 19:26

Lovely stropps. Sorry things are so hard for you just now. Please come back for the banter and support. You are much loved avd would be hugely missed. Thinking of you Flowers

beachyhead · 17/08/2015 19:47

Are you referring to me, Herbs?SmileSmile That's next door to my office and we are moving into that very building next Spring!!!

Happy to help with any lunch suggestions?

bigTillyMint · 17/08/2015 20:00

I'm backGrin

Have been in touch with Stropps who has good reason to not want to post atm. Nothing to do with any Crepeys or leagues or owt - RL is getting in the way.

Grin @ your DM Rudy! My DC were asking about people on my FB while we were away, and were most surprised (and not necessarily in a good way) when I told them how I knew you all Grin

In home news, our front door has started sticking horribly. DH tried to put it right before we left but it's even worse now. I think the house must be movingShock

herbaceous · 17/08/2015 20:04

No no, not you, Beachy! You're not THAT sort of banker.

Lunchwise, we might just head back up to Spitalfields, but any cheapish nice food, perhaps vaguely interesting to tempt a sometimes adventurous six-year-old boy away from burgers/pizzas/etc... He likes, for example, tapas!

Glad you've heard from Stropps, BTM, and that we haven't scared her off. She has far too much 'real life' to contend with - I liked being a spot of crepey light relief for her.

cremolafoam · 17/08/2015 21:01

Oh BTM, I'm glad you've been in touch with Stropps. I had a little weep there when I read her postSad
Don't know what to say, really. I feel terribly sad.

Not even worth mentioning a Crepey league. I can't think of one thing that we could even be measured by. Grey hairs? Lost socks? Time spent making meringues? Missed flights?
No no no no no.

Love you ALL.
sniff.

I feel very sad too Crem. I feel that I should have realised / noticed somehow that Stropps was so very near the end of her tether... but didn't Sad.

BTM, is she OK??

OP posts:
Blackduck · 17/08/2015 21:29

BTM tell her we loves her mucho and are sending strong vibes....

Rosebag · 17/08/2015 22:09

Ok Crepeys. I guess we give stropps some space for the time being, and remain hopeful of hooking up again on line before too long. The basis for friendship is all sorts of things but we're fighting it being solely on the basis of outward achievements of a particular sort. Look at me...a good degree, varied additional qualifications....and no work. I haven't even made the tax threshold in recent years. stropps if you're reading, take all the time out you need. Your friends will be here when you're ready xx

Welcome home tilly !!!

Rudy I got DH some John Lennon glasses when we had a 60's party a while ago and he was being arsy about it....

I have eaten too much today. But walked a lot by the sea . And have been driven doolaly by DM. And have read a thunderous riot act to my lot for bickering endlessly. And watched a VILE Spanish movie with DS because he has to write a critique on it for next term. Confused Tomorrow is another day.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/08/2015 22:36

Oh Stropps, don't go for good, please! No-one else on here speaks German. Grin Seriously though, do take time out and come back when you're ready. I'll miss you. You were the first person I spoke to at our first meet up, when I was nursing the hangover from hell after a night of endless champagne, cocktails and lewd behaviour, and you made me laugh a lot.

NUFC69 · 17/08/2015 22:38

Welcome back, BTM, and thank goodness you have been in touch with Stropps - here's hoping that she feels she can come back soon.

My friend has arrived and, as it was such a pleasant early evening we decided a trip to the beach was in order; of course we had to paddle. All was well until I dropped one of my sandals and had to wade in to get it back. Our drink in the pub was rather spoilt by me dripping on the carpet.

Rose, I hope you're managing some stress free time re your DM?

MontserratCaballe · 17/08/2015 23:01

Rose, you are very wise and very lovely.

MollyAir · 17/08/2015 23:11

Can I just add (hoping that Stropps will read at some point) that I've often been struck by how much I have in common with you, Stropps - but I haven't yet had a chance to share. Sad So I shall just bottle it up in an unhealthy way until you re-join us.

beachyhead · 17/08/2015 23:19

Herbs, Spitalfields is probably as good as any, though there is a sweet tapas place upstairs in Leadenhall Market, which is right opposite your tower. The tapas place is opposite the Lloyds building, sort of behind the Barbour shop! Ds might like Leadenhall market anyway - it's pretty and cobbled.

I'm up for a mini mu, Rose, although boss lady is arriving this week for 10 days (all of which I'm supposed to be off), so I may have to do some unplanned days in the office.

Blackduck · 18/08/2015 07:05

Talking mini MU who is on for Friday? Time/place? I will offload ds on ddad and can am fairly flexible.

Whilst doing my job app and hunting for a CV I found a load of old photos of ds which made me Grin Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/08/2015 07:43

I'm still on for Friday - whatever suits others is fine by me! Depending on who can come, is Waterloo the best?

I need to look out some old photos - am going up in September for a belated birthday celebration for a great friend from uniSmile

hattymattie · 18/08/2015 08:09

Herbs - your search for for alternatives to burger has reminded me of when DS had a huge stropp because I bought him - a pasty on holiday instead. Yes - that was this year and yes he is 13! He did sullenly admit it was "quite good". I like to get them to taste typically British stuff.

I'm anxiously looking at the sky as we are going to the revamped Paris zoo today. It is years since I went to any sort of zoo so I'm looking forward to it.

DD1 started her internship and is apparently translating Peace TreatiesConfused - I think war may be imminent!

Blackduck · 18/08/2015 08:22

Oh crepeys can I have ideas for cheap/free places in London I can take ds? History, parks, art... Need to keep the budget down Grin

Wifi and phone signal elusive & intermittent here, so only just caught up. BTM, please add my love to everyone else's when you're in touch with Stropps.

Crem, I did smile at your surmises about a Crepey league. It sounds like a version of Top Trumps. I think I would win on Lost Marbles this week and possibly Daftest Dog.

Lovely to be back here; sunny day on Windermere yesterday then Noel Coward at the theatre Smile Smile

I admit to some confusion about FB. I'm a pic of chicory flowers in a meadow at the moment if that helps you, WAF.

herbaceous · 18/08/2015 08:55

I often forget who's who on FB. I am a confused-looking stuffed rabbit.

Rudy - I'm meeting up with a friend tomorrow, otherwise I would come and meet you at Westfield Stratford! Which, I'm afraid, might be hell. Well, it is at weekends - it may well be better during school holidays. As ever with shopping, decide where you want to go and make a beeline. The John Lewis is very nice - small, but perfectly 'curated', and the M&S (right at the other end) is good. As is the Uniqlo. There are lots of shops in the outside bit - 'the street' - which never get at all crowded.

For food, go to the Great Eastern Market on the ground floor at the John Lewis end, or the 'naice' food hall on the top floor. Avoid the middle floor - it's all Maccy Ds and Spudulike.

BD - the Olympic park in general would be good for DS. It has water fountains, an actual beach with funfair, the stadium to gawp at, etc...

QueenQueenie · 18/08/2015 09:26

What sort of things do he like BD?

Somerset House has lots of free things on usually - have a look at the website - and position on the river is fab.

South Bank for a stroll and mooch - again there's always something going on there - free outdoor theatre, second hand book fair, fountains to get wet in etc etc.

National Gallery. Split up for 30 mins, each find a painting you love then take the other to see it and talk about it for 3 mins (followed by tea somewhere).

Columbia Road flower market (Sunday mornings) and a bagel in Brick Lane.

Imperial War Museum? V and A? Wellcome Collection - free and fab....
