I want to try for starters:-

Alberto Balsam Mandarin and Papaya conditioner - have tried the shampoo and it is better than I'd expected...

I have tried Boots Evening Primrose moistursier and its just ok, wouldn't re-use

Most of the mascaras by L'Oreal, Maybelline and Max Factor. Real?y no need to hit the expensive brands as these are just as good, if not better.

No 7 gel nail polish. Lasts a week, even without a topcoat.

Rimmel's matte Kate Moss lipsticks.

Another tip is to take note of which companies own which brands. Eg, L'Oreal own L'Oreal, Maybelline and Lancôme (among others) and quite often use the same formulations in all their makeup ranges but at vastly different prices. So a Maybelline mascara may have the same formula as a Lancôme one but it'll cost half the price.

Nip and Fab are on a third-half price offer in Boots and Superdrug, so most things around £10, or under.

I've seen a difference in the skin on my forearms, within three days, my skin is firmer.

I'm using their "Upper Arm fix", "Tummy fix" and "Viper Venom Body Serum", I'm in my late 40's.

Leviticus · 26/07/2015 00:52

John Lewis basic range white cotton flannels. 35 pence a piece.

Nip and Fab Deep Cleansing Fix - ultra thick cleanser in a huge tub. Love the Glycolic pads but they're slightly over a tenner if we're being strict.

Aveeno for hand cream.

Garnier body lotions - they are all very good but the Shea butter one suits me really well.

Superdrug Simply Pure serum was recommended by Sali Hughes and really is very, very good. It's about £3. Also like their Vit E facial oil for a similar price. Always recommended on here for good reason.

Loads of stuff really. There is genuinely good skincare around at a decent price these days.

Sansarya, do you know which other designer companies are the sister company of high street brands (or where I can look to find out)? I know Bourjois and Chanel have been mentioned.

Does anybody know/suspect whether W7 the sister company of a bigger company? I just don't see how they can make such good quality products with great reviews for such little money! I really hope the stuff I've ordered lives up to the reviews I've read. I hate forking out for good make up, especially if I can get the same quality for £5 GrinGrin

I know this is a thread to share good products, but can we also share awful ones to warn each other Grin Soap and Glory's wonder bronze is awful - no pigment at all! Their brow bar however is v good (but is £12). Also, max factor masterpiece transform mascara is awful. It comes out in a thick, gloopy, clumpy mess and the wand is crap. I didn't like benefit's 'they're real' either. It always smudged towards the end of the afternoon (when applied at 9am).

WaggleBee · 26/07/2015 02:28

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush body scrub. £8. Amazing stuff! Smells like limes and leaves skin really silky soft and smooth. Best one I've ever tried by far.

Hezaire · 26/07/2015 08:30

There was an article on buzzfeed a couple of months ago maybe. It compared primark (or was it pound land?)make up to a much more expensive brand. Worth searching out. It did it product by product

Sansarya · 26/07/2015 08:51

I think it was Poundland makeup. Apparently the nail polishes are pretty good. That reminds me, I tried MUA nail polish recently and was impressed. For just £1 you can't really go wrong. I used it with Sally Hansen's InstaGrip base coat and MegaShine top coat, which makes even the cheapest of polishes last a week.

Melonfool · 26/07/2015 18:54

Waitrose has a nice range called Pure, which is good value, I like the face oil and the day cream. I think the oil was £3.99.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/07/2015 19:03

MUA lipstick - I think Shade 11 is the one I have lots of.

Superdrug Naturally Radiant overnight peel.

Phwoar Paint

Radox

Aveeno

Flexitol

Garnier body tonic scrub (thanks to whoever recommended it on here!)

Botanics BB

moopymoodle · 26/07/2015 21:14

Carmex lip balm is great. Nothing heals my chapped lips faster. Liquid eyeliner from Poundshop is really good too.

I find you can pretty much go cheap on everything but the foundation

Sansarya · 26/07/2015 22:37

Sleek's blush is Rose Gold is a colour dupe for Nars' Orgasm. Apparently there's an MUA dupe for it too, which is even cheaper.

PiesnThighs · 26/07/2015 22:37

Shonajay, love the sound of the Osmo shiny hair stuff, where can you buy it?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/07/2015 23:16

Revlon Photoready eye concealer/primer - fantastic. It does something really amazing and suddenly makes you look like you've had 20 hours sleep! It's £9.99.

Destinysdaughter · 26/07/2015 23:34

This is Sali Hughes top beauty buys under £20, some good stuff here!

findingmyfeet12 · 27/07/2015 11:29

I second the recommendation for sleek rose gold blush. Its subtle and vey pretty. The packaging doesn't feel cheap either unlike mua (although mua products are much cheaper).

thatsshallot · 27/07/2015 13:00

Funny - I have a Sleek Rose Gold and Detest it, it's far too shimmery and a weird shiny pink/coral colour, I had heard it was meant to suit everyone but looks awful on me.

Am keeping only to try with a tan, else it's out

findingmyfeet12 · 27/07/2015 13:58

Thatsshallot, I'm quite dark skinned so maybe that's why I think it suits me quite well. It is shimmery which is why I don't layer it up.

You might find it works better with a tan.

thatsshallot · 27/07/2015 14:09

findingmyfeet I suspect that's the case - I can imagine on darker skin it would look ace, it just looks totally odd on my pale irish skin

Dukketeater · 27/07/2015 22:47

Just posted this link on another thread so thought i'd pop back here and add it on.
I bought this brush set on ebay to go alongside my normal brushes and was really impressed with them. No moulting.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/07/2015 23:16

Sleek rose gold looks dreadful on me too-far too cruise shipWink

Shop · 28/07/2015 09:14

I have those brushes Duke bloody brilliant for a fiver!

notnowImreading · 28/07/2015 09:22

Poundland eyeliner - the one in the little round pot with a brush - is the best I've ever used. You can get a really fine line and it lasts all day (literally 7am-11pm) without smudging.

Dukketeater · 28/07/2015 11:46

I know shop, I was really surprised how good they were!

MarvinKMooney · 28/07/2015 12:57

I agree with dogwalker about the Max Factor Masterpiece mascara: blimmin awful. The wand was useless - strange 'bristles' which were so short they simply didn't work - and the consistency was almost sticky. Total waste of money.

Looking out for (cheap) mascara recommendations ... Smile

nottheOP · 28/07/2015 13:03

Revlon colorstay eyeliner
MaxFactor 2000 lashes mascara
Bourjois eyeshow
No7 eyeshadow
Bourjois bronzer

The only thing that I buy at a counter is foundation as it is a false economy for me to buy cheaper, I need to be colour matched.

I like the nivea face wash and moisturiser too, but not the blue pot as it's too heavy. I also like the garnier micellar water as mentioned by PP.

I'm currently using the boots own coconut shampoo. It was really cheap and my hair is really shiny with it.
